Hey guys.....just got this.....anyone know what needs to be done.....

Ship date:
Sat 8/26/2017
CENTRAL, HK HK
Scheduled delivery:
Pending
MCN, GA US
Shipment requires importer's registration/identification number for clearance. (Examples include EIN, SSN, VAT, GST, RFC, etc.)
Recommended action:
Importer must provide the required registration/ identification number.
No scheduled delivery date available at this time.

How much did you buy?

If you got 3 or more you will be paying fees and taxes.

Contact fedex and ask them what they want from you.

This is not the IRS this would be import or trafif taxes and fees.

Can you say how much the order was? Above $2000? $2500?

Sounds like you got hit by the IRS xD
<- Joke  Cheesy

you need to give them your Tax ID if you have a company one if not then your SSN. Sounds like what happened above with taxes being billed.

Has the new batch gone up and I missed it? or they still havent put it up?

They still haven't put them up. Radio silence on their facebook and twitter despite a lot of people asking when they're coming out.

Canaan said available 8/30... It's currently 0820 in Beijing... Any idea when the site will show the inventory?
I just asked this question on face book Grin
Fact: there's an intern at Canaan.io just sitting there watching the different IP addresses refresh the page. Lol.

This is torture!
When the shop finally opens up, do remember that since you are in the US, keep the total value of the order under $2,500 or there will be Import Duty charged.

And about ordering, assuming it has not changed at checkout select the Manual Payment method. Also put a note in the Customer Notes box provided about using BTC or Wire Transfer though Wire is supposed to be for large customers only - like 60 miners at a time... They will get back to you usually in a day or so.

I did not know that. Thank you for letting me know.

Do you know what percentage the Import Duty Charge is?
Edit: Nevermind, I found it. It's 0.3464% of the value of the shipment (minimum duty charge is $25, max duty charge is $485).

not sure about your number  of 0.3464 as that is $8.66 per 2500 with a minimum of 25.00  I was never charged  that low.  there are broker fees tacked on to that. I think I was around 78 dollars. for a 2500 order.

I think you're right. I googled it, but I think it just pulled up the merchandise processing fee.

Damn import laws, taxes, and fees.

It may be worth it to exceed the $2500 amount now and avoid the opportunity cost of ordering fewer than I want to end up with.

To add to the Fun Surprises, the two times over the years I did have to pay Duty, CBP also notified the Michigan tax folks who promptly sent me an internet-purchases sales tax (9%) bill based on the equipment value. Ya supposed to declare that at tax time on my state taxes but they preferred it right then...

There is a new power supply available on canaan.io.

Do you think this will work for a L3+ as well? Why shouldn't it work? It's a "normal" power supply, isn't it ?? I am from the EU(germany).

https://canaan.io/product/sorcerer-power-supply-unit/

Yeah it should work for a L3 given that is has enough PCIE cables.

My main question is the airflow orientation for cooling. is it setup to move airflow in the same orientation as the 741?

Seems like standart chinese PSU. I have bought similar from ebay. I guess airflow is not optimized for 741.

Thanks for the update on wire transfers, I am going to go the BTC route for my order.

I have another question I have a 2450W power supply built by amitylabs (ebay store) out of the states.

I know theoretically I should be able to run 2 of these of the 1 PSU but does anyone who has run these have any experience with what these actually draw. I have no intention of overclocking the unit and at max my ambient temperature will be 35C in summer(already past that) and 20-30C until winter hits when I will easily be able to keep it at 5C. (yay Canada lol).

Thanks in advance.

if you set it at -1  I think  it will be okay.

it does about 1075 watts at the kwatt meter  on -1

settings are

-2  =  1025 - 1050
-1  =  1075 -1100
0   =  1125 -1150
+1 =  1175 - 1200

I was wondering how many people run theirs on +1 and is it stable?

I tried it with a 12.5v psu and it was quite unstable.

Theoretically it should, but judging from the pictures it looks kinda jimmy rigged... I've had excellent experience using properly designed breakout boards with the 741's. I have two of them running off one IBM 2880 watt unit. no problem.

Great step from Canaan to release the power supplys for small quantitys.

If they can fullfill their backorders, we will have a bright future with their avalons Smiley

Anybody got details about new generations of the avalons?
I can't imagine that there will come new miners from them before next year..
