I went back the last 15 pages or so to try and get a good idea about running these units, and definitely understand their supply and demand issues. I'm not worried about getting my units especially after reading the posts from their Rep/VP/helping hand Steven. I just wanted to see if there are any options apart from BTC or USD wire transfer available for payment. Either way I'll make sure I'm ready to go, no matter what it will be better than trying the lottery of catching Bitmains sale and hoping the hardware lasts.
They just take BTC or wire transfer.No other payment methods.

Planning my first order from a supplier, and wondering what does Canaan accept for payment methods, and how long do you have to make the payment before the order is tossed. Also does anyone know what time the items become available for order? I want to make sure I'm up and ready even if it's 4 am lol.

Go back and read the last 4 or 5 pages of this forum to get your answer, but in short Canaan has been all over the place lately on orders. Just keep in mind they're legit and not trying to rip you off. Be patient and work with them as they seem ready to work with their customers. I recommend you be ready with payment when your order is placed. Before it looked like they were giving customers time, but they might start demanding speedier payment. Also I recommend to open a ticket (if they don't) to send them your transaction ID. I would also send one more message when all confirmations are completed. They will then send you a FedEx tracking number in about 1-2 days. If they go beyond any deadline just reply to your ticket and they should give you an update, but be ready for a reply no to come until HK time and somewhat broken English. But again you just need to be patient and know they're legit.
Last order I did with them took 2.5 weeks from order to miners arrived. This was during their surge of orders. It took about a week to receive the payment address, they sent a message they were shipping 2 day slater with the tracking number, when I check FedEx it wasn't picked up until the following evening then about 5 days of transit due to the weekend.

I would not trust that at all. Doesn't look like it would do 1800w. Might even cause a fire, get the marshmallows ready.

Log into Canaan and look at your order, if it shipped it will have the tracking number on the top.
Usually a bunch of numbers together, I never received the ping they talk about or any notification of tracking number from Canaan I simply logged on and looked at my order.

Looks like Avalon updated their website to announce that sales will start on August 30th.
good now if I could get a tracking number for the one I paid for .
I would order more on the 30th.
They cause more work for their company with the slow replies.
I would order 3 at a time if they were efficient with orders.
Instead I feel forced to get 1 at a time and not order until I get the one.
I placed 2 orders of the 741
first was slow but only about 8 days.
second is over 20 days.
third is yet to be ordered.
here is the deal for me buysolar and I have the solar array it provides 9kw to 13kw depending on the season.
we are expanding to a bigger array our new site can be done in three stages each adds about 15kw to 20kw
this would be 45kw to 60kw
plus the 9kw to 13kw
so lets say stage:
1 will be 14 avalon 741's
2 will be 14 avalon 741's
3 will be 14 avalon 741's
total of 42 more avalon's
this will be a 9 month expansion
And 42 avalon's is not small but I just can't seem to simply order 2 or 3 at a time as my build up will be progressive .
I am mostly adding gpus as I get them with out the hassles I have buying here.
I really don't want to order from bit main at the moment as the s-9 needs more care to run. the avalon are more bullet proof.
Oh I understand, I run a similar model. I don't buy 50 of anything at a time, but spread it out over several orders. The deal is, I think Canaan is setup to handle 10 people that buy 100 unit each, not 100 people that buy 10 each. Each order has a fixed minimum amount of time required to process it and get it out the door, I think they got caught off guard by the sheer number of people looking for immediately available hash power, not necessarily the number of hardware units. On a side note, I think this is great news for diversification. Glad to see Canaan is making a dent in the BTC hardware world. Hopefully with more positive long term reliability stories, folks will start valuing trouble-free ownership over a slight increase in efficiency.
It becomes frustrating to buy any gear except gpus.
And at the moment I have enough gpus.
I am looking to place a third order and they have not done the second one.
I have been in the game since 2011 but actually in the game with viable gear since 2012. Before asics.
This has been a good year and expansion works for us so the lack of willing sellers becomes very frustrating to me and buysolar.
I got some GPU as well, problem with that is gpu availability... I like to have all the same gpu, makes building rigs, modding, and scaling easier. Its hard to get 6 of the same of anything... much less 30+ needed to make some decent coin. cost is crazy too... makes roi worse than btc.
Anyone get any further info from Canaan re shipment of this batch?
I got the replacement fan today - without any notice from Canaan saying it had actually shipped/tracking number. Like the miner I'm waiting for was just notified that it was in-progress and I'd be told when it shipped.
Anywho, got it, about 5min later to replace the fan/shroud and the 721 is happy again. Now wondering if the miners are also in-transit for us...
I got the replacement fan today - without any notice from Canaan saying it had actually shipped/tracking number. Like the miner I'm waiting for was just notified that it was in-progress and I'd be told when it shipped.
Anywho, got it, about 5min later to replace the fan/shroud and the 721 is happy again. Now wondering if the miners are also in-transit for us...
Still shows "Processing..." as my status. FedEx or UPS delivery manager usually pings me when a new shipment is coming, but not sure if they used them or another shipper.

Phil have you tried contacting Ebang if they could sell their hardware more easily than Canaan at the moment?
