I hope the Avalon team sold their BTC at $200+, I'm sure a nice payday would help move our units along

Haha, if BTC dropped to $2 then it would only be a loss of $10-$12 USD per day lol.  And my Batch 3 units were only $212  Cheesy

Honestly I'm more concerned about BTC commerce than the price.  The price run made BTC unusable for both buyers and sellers.

The information on the PSU confuse me --> https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1779402

155mm recommend, MAX: 170mm  <-->  Enermax 金魔冰核1000W(suit for 4 modules, a little bit long)
from the enermax datasheet: 750/850/1000W: 150mm x 86mm x 175mmHuh

ist this for batch 1-3? or will you re-design the batch 2 & 3 case for more space?

we added a tested and confirmed working PSU list to the wiki, as well as other power requirement specs for those who wish to use their own PSU or bought a unit without the power supply.

Thanks. Please add a tip jar address to your sig.

In exchange most companies worked on Sunday - so 1 day public holiday.
Calculate how much profit they can make by delaying the shipping for one day, and what the consequences would be if they do. And then you tell me if you wouldn't in that situation....
Avalon does not make ANY profit by delaying.   They DO NOT run your machine other than to test and then they ship.  Watch the HR, has it increased 40TH or you are being silly?   And if that is what YOU WOULD do, I am glad you do not work for Avalon because that is NOT what they did.   Go submit your CV to BFL.

Well gentleman, I'm a little confused about this thread

AVALON ASIC - QCool element watercooling thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/avalon-asic-qcool-element-watercooling-thread-164742

I have tried to stay up to date in order to be ready for when my batch 2 arrives - I hope for zero delays when I turn this bad boy on, but the above thread makes me think that the Avalon's should be tweaked.  Is there any reason we would need this watercooling or is this just a hobbyist increasing his efficiency?  I can fabricate something like this in my shop at work, but it'll take a few days and a couple favors.  I want to be ready.

You don't necessarily _have_ to water cool it but of course if you do you will get better heat transfer than air cooling and that means you might be able to push the chips even further or if you live in a hot climate ensure cooler chip temps at stock clock rates.

Thanks - I was hoping this was the case.  For a moment I was worried it was having overheating issues.  I plan to store it in the basement where it stays nice and cool all year long.

Well hopefully the basement can deal with the extra heat being pumped into it. Remember the heat has to go somewhere. If you got multiple units then you have a LOT of heat to deal with. But I'm sure you realize this.

Has nothing to do with greed or envy.

I just don't understand it.

If I am dealing with something new, I'll go like this:
- Read (FAQ, man)
- Googling my question
(- Even try)
- Ask questions (with all possible information to help me)

Maybe I'm just too old-fashioned.

Why even ask if you have someone to help you?

Sorry should not be aggressive.
I apologize. Smiley
