Don't joke with my Daughter
Despite the fact that there has been no discussion in this topic for almost a year, I still wanted to remind the forum about the existence of this topic. Not out of any vanity or sense of pride or anything like that. Not at all. It seems to me that the discussion and posts from here could be of some benefit to newly arrived forum participants who missed this and are unlikely to delve into such old topics. Of course, the discussion here is not of a technical (bitcoin) nature and not about the bitcoin, which would undoubtedly be more useful, but still, I believe, it can indirectly facilitate the accumulation of the bitcoin. As many may want, but they have difficulties with it. Both in the case of ranking on the forum and the accumulation of bitcoin, the principle of action will be similar - step by step, the gradual accumulation of merit or every satoshi.

Newbie, if reading these longreads doesn't tire you and you don't fall asleep Smiley, then it would be nice if this inspires someone to new achievements, both personal and public.

P.S. The writing of this post was inspired by reading one topic and with this I am ending this reminder post. Maybe again, I’ll remind you of the existence of this topic in a year or so. Time will tell.

And may the forum forgive me for this step. Smiley
Newbie have gradually been inspired by other newbie who seem to easily accumulate merit. Some merit thread can turn out to be very active and lots of newbie come flocking in looking to be farming - but I admit that thread like this are very inspiring even though I'm sure not many newbie will want to read them from A to Z.

You have to pay attention to what's going on - I mean, topics like this aren't going to be very effective in motivating newbie because it seems like most of the newbie these days are those who are farming accounts due to financial difficulties. They know exactly how to earn merit and build their accounts - so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the newbie got some real buzz because of his participation in the drama topic.

I wouldn't doubt as well but to be Frank during my newbie stay I actually focused on reading that hunting for merits I never knew it would be that smooth for me despite being stuck for awhile at a particular rank until I started changing my posting style and format this alone gives me a lifting hands to start witnessing a turnaround within the forum. The major problems why most of the newbies won't pay attention to this thread could be by either not having patient to read some lengthy post meanwhile those lengthy post covers lots of information they really needs to know about but due to impatient they kept hunting for merits and flooding any tokens that talks about merits distribution to an extent most of the newbies wants to forced merits source to start distributing merits as other merits source do spray merits.

What I think is when a post really covers a variety of information it propelled whomever that owns a merits to share to them but, when they noticed some leakage or poorly written post more like spamming none would be triggered to dish out his or her merits to them without wanting to spend their merits wisely. As a matter of facts merits has been the major discussion of newbies rather than learning what would help them to know their left and right in this forum.

This is the kind of inspiring threads I will always want to read through countless times especially for moments I feel like giving up and dumping my account and the forum maybe just because I feel there's no significant growth and I think every other newbie's need to learn on this story.
For it's threads with encouraging stories as this that that there's surely gonna be a light at the end of the tunnel irrespective of how long it takes, that inspired me on making this misconceptualized  post https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.61968016 but howbeit am glad to have read OP story.
Yes, this thread needs to be read many times by newbies and someone who finds it difficult up to a new rank. To always exist in the forum requires effort and patience, just like rank up, it takes time to reach the required number of merits as a requirement to be promoted to a higher rank. Op story has inspired many users who feel they can't or find it hard to develop their talents in the forums. The essence of what Op has achieved, hard work always gives more than expected.

Alot of discussion about bounty hunters had been made previously to this one, it's not that having a bounty profile account is an offence against the forum rules but what they always post is much focused on altcoins and bounties reports which it you can remember that this forum is majorly a bitcoin discussion platform but other boards were added to make the whole thing fun altogether, because personally I don't see what any bounty hunter has benefited me o have warrant giving any merit.
If they don't make a profit, then I don't think they will stick around. But the problem is that their profits are disproportionate to what they do, but it seems worthy to those who are grateful for what it produces.

But maybe this discussion has gone off topic, I think OP should stop it and lock this thread. @m2017, it's time.

For someone to get to Hero or Legendary rank, such user must have been given to consistent learning and improvement on countless times, it's not easy because some finds it a difficult task for them to achieve, the more you could see some members getting there in more than two years, though we have some individuals personal challenges that could take away time from them resulting to not being active for some while, merits also could be another determinant and so on, but if you made it to a higher rank, you've done well in the past.

Right... It is not just about learning, which is important, though.
But realistically, people can learn from the forum without even creating an account, by just lurking around and reading other's opinions and participations. Since ranking up implies earning merits, we could say, instead, that rank is an approximation of the perception this forum as own you as a member.

There are members who have a lot of post in the bounty section, for example, but do not rank up because in the eyes of other's, they do not provide much for the enrichment of this place.

A week ago I got Sr.Member rank. This event surprised me, because I didn't expect it to happen in the near future. Pleasant suddenness - what can I say. Thanks to Quickseller, this moment was brought very close and I am sure that will tell my grandchildren about it Cheesy. Thanks to him and to all those who marked my posts with "merits".
Congratulations OP for achieving your new legendary rank and it looks good on you. Your hardwork, commitment and consistency finally paid off. Looking at you gives me hope that anything(rank) is possible if only I am ready to put in the work, am making baby steps today and I hope it turns to giant strides tomorrow. Once again, congrats and enjoy your new rank 😎

Congrats on getting to Sr. Member, OP.  I suspect if you just posted more, you'd probably have been at least a Hero member by now.

And here we are just over a year later and you've done it!  Congratulations on getting to the end of the line as far as ranks, OP.  Just reading what you've posted in this thread, it's obvious you put a lot of time and thought into what you're writing and that tends to get noticed--which in your case, it obviously did.  If any lower-ranked members are here wondering what they have to do to earn merits, they ought to emulate the path you took and begin by taking a look at your post history.

OP ignored my post which kind of makes me feel embarrassed and is proving that my reply is not really worth this discussion. Huh
So sensitive!  Dude, you're doing fine.  Don't let your own thoughts and self-criticism drag you down, because I've seen you contribute to the forum and I think you're being way too hard on yourself.

Official names and titles, in my opinion, are not as significant as what we ourselves are. The inner state is more important than the rank. Frankly, I still don't feel like a Legendary, because I don't have sufficient knowledge to consider myself as such. I am not ashamed to say that I will ask questions that would not expect from a high rank. So, your wish for new heights is very appropriate in my case.
This implies that not all Legendaries are well-rounded members and can understand everything without asking. There are even many Legendaries here who are spammers, without much knowledge and living in the dark among other low ranking spammers. I don't deny it, it exists and will continue to exist.

About your new rank, it is fun. I even wonder when I'll become Legendary - I think months from now or maybe when ATH just hits. LOL
One day it will surely happen. Let's hope it doesn't take a lot of activity. Just keep being on the forum so that we have a reason for your congratulations.

Threads like this one always serves as a source of inspiration for others members in the forum that are looking forward to excel in such way, i personally would love to achieve such feat if not even more than what you have achieved. I honestly believe a good poster will always be recognized in this forum as his hardwork and resilience to growth will always point him out different to other obscure lazy members in the forum. Nothing comes easy in life as you really need to work for it. Congratulations Op on your great achievement as you have truly earned it but its seem to me that your achievements have further double as your profile is currently showing legendary rank achievement so i think it only proper the thread is lock up or updated Just as other members have duely stated.
You will certainly achieve the result you want, because you have no illusions and clearly understand that you need to work for this. I am sure you will succeed, just keep doing your job and be patient.

Oh wow!
Congratulations m2017! I don't know how you are feeling right now. But I can imagine your feelings. Surprisingly, you created this thread a year ago to celebrate your Sr. member rank up. In a year, You managed to earn another 750 merits. It's impressive. Sometimes your merit makes say how valuable you are. I believe only helpful posts deserve merits.

There are a lot of members who have been here for ages, and they are still not able to get Full member rank. (I have been here for a couple of years too, But I was inactive) I haven't seen your many posts, maybe because we are interested in different forum sections. But, I would like to appreciate your contribution and Congratulate you.
750 merit impresses you, and I gave a whole year of my life for this. Smiley In fact, it was a pleasure for me to spend this year among the bitcointalk-community and I hope it was not the last.

Besides you're not active enough, you probably weren't interested in merit systems until your mindset changed. I think that's one of the reasons why you don't get high ratings after being active for few years, and actually I felt the same way back then.

The mindset will change when you realize how important it is to contribute to forums regardless of whether it is about your technical knowledge or anything else. It doesn't matter how long it takes you to reach it, but when you can maintain the consistency of your active discussion with the community then you have chance to reach that target.

Apart from that, congratulations @m2017. It may be too late, but cheers.
You correctly noted that the chances increase many times with the constancy of activity on this forum. Each post makes achievement possible and brings the final goal closer.

Many people even wish to reach the highest rank. When a beginner's dream of becoming legendary is achieved, the feeling is that there are still many tasks that need to be completed and the greater the responsibility in the future. This is when the goal of becoming a hero is executed.

Trying to interpret what the hero goal means. Helping those at the lower ranks to be motivated to try to improve their quality so that the desire is achieved. Or maybe when your dream is achieved as it is now, then there is a great desire from you to help them achieve it someday through the merit distribution that you will share based on your own judgement. If my interpretation is correct, the legendary-ranked m2017 is a "hero" and perhaps many other legendary will applaud a hero for doing his job properly.

In advance, congratulations to you my friend.

A story that contains a lot of meaning that you deserve to be recorded during your time on the forum in a book.
Well, no books. Smiley Everything I wanted to say about this has already been written in this thread.

It's fine to leave it open for a few days, just as it gives other users a chance to congratulate them on their achievement. But the longer it takes, of course there will be more and more unimportant replies that can even become spam.
That is why, perhaps, this post of mine will be final here. I think everyone who wanted to, has already spoken.

Once again, I sincerely thank you all. On this I close this topic.

You've proven that the merit system won't make it difficult for anyone to move up in the rankings when the quality of posts and contributions are the benchmark. You are not the first to reach this stage and you are not the last to feel it, I mean there are a lot of people lining up to reach this milestone and they are on their way.

I'm just advice that you also help other users as others help you about merit. Your merit stats say you have 100+ sMerits still buried in your profile, so it would be great if you could spend them on other users to keep this system going. It doesn't matter how high your priority posts are, but keeping the system running is good.
Initially, merit-system made me so difficult and frustrated that I abandoned the forum for a while. But when the merit-sources began to accrue them to me little by little, I decided that perhaps not everything was lost and it was worth a try. If I had been told in the past that I would get highest rank, I would not have believed it. Everything happened the way it did. Probably, if I got legendary easily and simply, only at the expense of long-term shitposting, as many did before the new era, then my attitude to the forum could be different. Now, looking back, I am glad that everything was not so smooth and fast, because these difficulties left their mark. You don't have to be afraid of difficulties. We need to see them as an opportunity to realize their potential.

I take your advice and will definitely distribute sMerits. But I don't want to give them indiscriminately to everyone and therefore, I will give to those who deserve their actions and need them. In my opinion.

~snip
Don't worry. Everything has its time. I see this as a kind of duty that I must fulfill well and with all responsibility. Thank you for reminding.

Your dream exceeds expectations, this is a very beautiful moment for you. No one thought you could get to the Legendary Rank this fast, the time you need is too fast which may be difficult for other people to achieve.
Glad to see your success reaching Legendary even though your goal was a Hero Member at first. Congratulations to you for this success, your story has inspired other members that there is no obstacle for anyone to go to the highest rank as long as they want to try.
A reward or achievement without difficulty is of little value. Until you try and see if you can get what you want.

Congratulations OP for achieving what you have dreamed off and this is another example for nothing can stop when you keep working on your goals.

But myself never gave much attention to the merits column, I am happy with the financial knowledge I am getting from bitcointalk and it helped me a lot personally to break and live a good life but topics like these kinds of triggers me to get more merits and now am asking myself what am I doing wrong?

Or I am just another bounty spammer? Huh
I am glad that my topic encourages you to new achievements. It's interesting, like a mini-game, the bonus of which will be your personal metaphors.

It's good that you have a question, what are you doing wrong, because it pushes you to look for answers. These answers can only be found by you by looking deep into yourself. Reflect in your free time on what you can "give" to the forum and other users. Perhaps this will help with your question.

~snip
Everything has its time. I didn't ignore. Don't be embarrassed. Your replay is also important for me.

Something is difficult when we think it is difficult, including how we rank in forum. I'm not at all worried about how forum contributor can get assurance that they'll get to the highest level without realizing it, that's what most people want, but only in the minority here.

You've had a great trip and today you've had a lot of fun, congrats on your rank up to Legendary.
Yes, you are right. Our perception is very important and can play a cruel joke on us. If we believe that the goal is achievable, then it ceases to be impossible and unattainable. Therefore, it is important to think positively.

It is 1yr and 15 days you made the thread and the merits, you had then was little compared to the numbers that have added to it since then till date. This means that you are improving yourself and contributing in the forum for other members to learn from you.

You are already in the highest rank and it shows that your dreams came true. It is everybody's dream as a forum member from hero rank down to newbie rank to be legendaries some day,but some of them end up not achieving this goal because of difficulties of getting merits on the forum. Forgetting that patience and hard work is the key.  Congrats mate.
Many dream, but few set a goal. This is the difference. You don't need to dream, but you need to set achievable goals. At Sr.Member, I saw that Hero Member was achievable and therefore set it as my goal by creating this thread. At that time, Legendary was a dream for me, not a goal. As I reached Hero, the next step, I formulated for myself (internally) a new goal - highest rank. At that moment, it ceased to be a dream, but became a goal. What it led to, you already know.

As a Member, you can't set a goal to become Legendary. It's complicated. Very.
Set immediate and achievable goals. For starters, a Full Member.
Step by step, this will lead to the highest rank.

Thank you all for your congratulations and your comments. I am pleased to answer them and discuss with you. It pushes me to new thoughts and allows me to look from a different angle. I wish you all the best.

Hello Leo! You can still win.

Needless of saying much, I remember all about this thread and I remember your rank and merit count being so far from achievement when you made this thread. I remember how consistent you have remained. I remember when you helped me escape the 666 merit count Grin
I remember when you joined the Best_Change family. I remember most things about you as if you are my close friend. We only meet here and nothing more, but with all modesty I can attest that you are a good fellow.
Congratulations and accept my love from this end of the world ❤️
It's nice to hear these words and that you still remember these moments. It seemed that this was important only for me, and few people around me would notice these events in my forum life. Sometimes it's nice to be wrong.

When a member realized that giving to the forum does not required the responsibility of any rank, which means irrespective of the rank you're, it is always expected of you to contribute and maintain the standard you started with if not improved on it, by then it should have been a habit.

You are already in the highest rank and it shows that your dreams came true.

Everyone has thesame opportunity to reach the peak of the forum ranks and not that alone, they have every right to also get to the pinnacle of success in life if they are determined, everything follows procedures and time together with hardworks, these are the prices needed.
