If you are beginner when it comes to investing and cryptocurrencies then the best advice that we can give to you is to not invest in altcoins yet, and the reason is very simple altcoins move in unpredictable ways sometimes the price is going to move in one direction or the other and there is no apparent reason for it, so if you're going to make an investment invest in bitcoin, but the only what you can afford to lose, do that for some time and if you can hold despite the huge movements in the price then you can try to invest in altcoins.

I think bitcoin, ethereum, neo and litecoin might be good choices for the beginning. In my opinion, ethereum and bitcoin have more stable prices than the prices of other altcoins and I think this is giving trust.

Like all other beginners I would suggest you to play it safe and do not risk it all .
Don't go for some random coins and invest in them . Always pick up the coins from the top 10 coins and invest on them by splitting up your money . Never invest on one coin as if the value goes down it will be a big heart attack . Trust bitcoin and don't forget to invest in it . It should be the priority for you or or any beginner in this field.

I think some posters here already told you why the market was red the past few weeks but it had been green already. Now for your second question, for small investments around how much are you willing to invest necause it also depends on the amount you are willing to lose. Once you have set an amount, limit yourself around how many coins you would want to invest in, do some research or YouTube them if you cant find any answers.

Depend on how much money will you invest? The safest is Bitcoin and Ethereum, they are the best coins to invest in but you need have a lot of money because the price of them will very high. If you just have a little money, i advise you should invest in the coins which have good project behind and have the price of them is still cheap such as Stellar, Golem or NXT..... those coins can increase more than 5x in the future and bring a lot of profit.

You will hear different opinion on which coin is best. So, if you're newbie you should spend time doing your research on top listed coin in coinmarketcap. It will teach you something and you can make a sound investment. Don't rely too much on other people for investment as it'll make you panic when market crashes as it usually does.

Good point, learn it by yourself and never to rely with someones opinion, read and watch those videos that has been shared start investing your
time and carefully understand each things that really affects the coin, on why the value is getting pumped and also why the value is getting dumped
after knowing that, try to start investing better to have existing coins which already have a lots of supports try to catch it up while the value still
low.
