Can someone explain what description "archived" under username on BPIP means? Things like "inactive" or "banned" is obvious, butvI didn't found anything about it.

I'm taking OmegaStarScream's suggestion posted in Viewing unedited/deleted posts (search per post, per user or per topic) here:
A suggestion... Have you thought about making a browser extension? I think it would be nice if we could access the archived posts directly from the forum's posts instead of having to manually check every post.

I've found another error with the BPIP extension - if I visit a users' profile with the ;dt extension, I can see the letter I in a circle, however, there is no DT1/2 inactive/banned etc added to the profile extension.

examples:

See also this post for an error that is also created separately.

*Edit* I've noticed this post which is possibly the same error.

I think that I've found a bug.
If an user is Ignored, although the proper settings are there in the extension, the extra info is not shown (for example "Banned") in a discussion thread.

Confirmed it happens - not sure it is a bug as such.

I agree.   If I'm ignoring someone, I don't want to see the changes in their status.

To do that we would have to know who you are and we currently don't do that in the extension nor is it easy to determine.
Of course you would. Total brain fart on my part. I wouldn't even use that feature due to the privacy implications, haha. Forget I spoke.

Can you add earned merit count below the actual merit (or maybe even instead of it)?
In addition to this, it would be really nice to have a counter for how much merit I had sent to each user and how much they had sent to me.

I was thinking something like this for privacy-reducing features such as the one that you're proposing:

  • A grave warning on the settings screen ("if you enable these features we will know your user ID").
  • A box to enter the user ID, instead of us trying to sniff it out of HTML - that would make it more reliable and reinforce the fact that you're giving your user ID to BPIP.
  • Could also use someone else's ID if e.g. you want to see who LoyceV's backscratchers are.

I see what you did there

What is the difference?

If you hover over the numbers of Archive and Inactive on the front page, it shows a definition.  Smiley

Now I can't find it anymore.
They're not that hard to find, see https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?id=1234560 for instance.
My guess: unlike archived profiles, inactive profiles still get checked once in a while.

₿uy / $ell ..oeleo ;(
I saw yesterday a new tag - archived which i haven't seen before, instead of inactive. I should have taken a screenshot. Now I can't find it anymore. What is the difference? Those who are archived are most likely banned, or those are old inactive accounts before the staring of the ban list?
Don't remember the real color of the tag but it was something like orange, right?

I would like an option to toggle DT1/DT2 beside the profile to the actual strength number.  New users need to know DT but experienced users would rather see the number.

Is it possible to add something like personal notes feedback for members in BPIP extension?
Take this one step further and you can make personal notes about websites, posts, etc.
I just realized such extensions already exist! I won't link any of them here, as I haven't tested any and you should be very careful which extensions you trust, but they're out there. I don't think a generic extension can be nicely integrated with the posts, but it could work on the profile.

I mentioned password just because Vod proposed encryption, and I don't think it's needed so much.

Yes - I don't think anyone would want their personal notes to go public if the data was stored in the cloud.

But as SM stated, his extension does not identify the user.  I don't think wasting time programming a backup/restore function is necessary - just include the file in your backup routine.

We can't store it on the server because we don't identify users but we can use local storage (already used for settings). The only problem is that it gets wiped out if you uninstall the extension so it would probably need some sort of backup/export function.

Password is probably not necessary if you don't share the browser with someone else. Using passwords would require some way to reset them etc, so that's a whole other can of worms.

It's an interesting feature for sure but probably not something we could do quickly.

Thanks for answering.
I am not in a hurry, and I could live even with my local storage and manual backup (for start).

I doubt anyone would be interested to know my thoughts about some members in bitcointalk forum.... but you never know  Smiley

Where would this data be stored?  If local, you need to worry about losing info.  Maybe the extension could encrypt the data before sending it to BPIP?

Maybe some password would be good for this.
This data would not be sensitive or super-secret information, but only short basic text notes reminders regarding specific members.
Now, I can use trust system neutral feedback (that is public), but people started to complain about that also, and I would like to avoid 'war' in forum.
