several people seem to have problems accessing the trading page.
Also the public trades history hits an error. All other pages seem to work
Maybe that's just the increased load?

In the same spirit with which there will be an option for lenders to opt to have insured loans or not, thus causing a fee to the lender, might I propose that there also be an option to allow lenders to choose whether or not their funds are subject to a pre-payment penalty?

I'm sure there are at list of unintended consequences to it, however, I can only imagine this idea is at least worth exploring.

Do you see any conflict of interest in both trading on, and working for bitfinex?

I really do not think CloudFlare is the solution for Bitfinex.

Offline viewing? This is not the product for you!! CloudFlare is not designed to keep a realtime site up!

Bitfinex team, using them is not a good choice, and the option to view a offline version of site is embarrassing. You are not a forum or blog!

Not very impressed at all. Really gives a bad impression, like you have no idea what CloudFlare does, I think they are designed for static blogs and stuff.

Can't you load balance the site across multiple AWS instances?
I double facepalmed at your post. Offline viewing = unprofessional??

Yeah, I don't see where your face-palm is applicable. Smiley

No trading site is useful for viewing offline, more focus should be made to make sure the site never goes offline, cloudflare is protection for static sites. You can't do any trading on a offline site, all the information is useless.

Amazon AWS is capable of handling a millions times the load of Bitfinex, they should really consider them.

Honestly, what do you do with offline Bitfinex? Its like a offline Poker room or a offline NASDAQ, it kinda doesn't make sense.

Offline fall back is good for some types of sites, but looks really really silly for some other types.

But please, enjoy looking at your offline price ticker and offline limit orders. Have fun.

Is there a historical Bitfinex VIR interest rate chart?  I'd really like to see that chart overlayed against historical Bitcoin price.  Anyone know of any such tool?

I only have empirical data with only 1 day resolution to offer... I hope there will be more stats in the future but I guess that they just have different problems at the moment.

If everybody has so far been able to get everything that is to them due, from Bitfinex, even last week, I consider it safe enough to extend my trading there also.

I am using Bitfinex both for lending and trading.
Nothing to complain. I checked the gain/loss calculation on trading and as far as I am concerned the numbers are accurate.

In the initial phase there were some software glitches. Bitfinex compensated for losses caused by those glitches. Problems were always addressed right away and every incident I reported was investigated and fixed. On one incident, the front-end locked up, but the trading engine continued to run and executed my stop orders properly. I can also confirm that forced liquidations work correctly and I was able to withdraw a fraction of my gains as BTC.

Question about stops:

Do stops trigger based on mtgox's last print? or its level I (best bid/best offer)?

if i had a stop below 90  (say 89.99) and someone routed to BFX at 86 even though the mtgox best bid is 90, does my stop get triggered?

Read the past few pages in this thread...
Soon (tm) there will be insured loans with higher fees on interest for the lenders that are guaranteed by someone (tm) to be honored, even if Bitfinex gets goxxed again.

I'm unsure if this is actually needed once there are more exchanges added but I guess it's always nice to have. It might give incentive though to rather take losses from (uninsured) lenders than fixing the platform...

There will be no differences for traders, it's just that lenders will get 10% or 30% less of the paid interest due to fees.

If you are going with insured and non-insured loans - be sure to give advance notice and let people transition their existing loans to one of the two formats.  Thanks.

What is an insured loan in this case?  Does it increase my return?  If so, at what cost?   Anyone, got a link for a newbie that can help me understand this please?

Thanks.

I might be misunderstanding something. What does "Margin available: 2,468 BTC" mean?
that at curent price there are funds  available to go long 2468 BTC

oh! thanks for clearing that up. that whole section
