Being one of the main 250 events in Bulgaria, ATP Sofia brings out a lot of the top players in the world. As it is as a indoor hard court tourney, the big servers will come out to play in their preferred environment. Some notable players that are attending the event include: Dennis Shapovalov, Jannik Sinner, Vasek Pospisil, and Richard Gasquet! With the stacked card of players that they have planned throughout the week, the matches are only to be going up in quality. One of the more interesting match-ups however, is coming up soon. Let’s dive into the Jannik Sinner vs Marton Fucsovics game in the round of 32.
Jannik Sinner vs Marton Fucsovics Analysis06:20 - 10/11/20 - ATP: Sofia, Bulgaria
Jannik Sinner is one of the hottest young prospects on the tour, having beat a ton of big names in his short career thus far, and boasting them at a high clip. At a mere 19 years old, Sinner looks to be one of the game’s greats in the upcoming years, and his abilities do not sell him short of reaching such a goal. His main strengths on the indoor courts remain his serve, forehand, and strong backhand, all abilities that should make him a threat against any opposition this coming week. However, he faces a stiff task in Marton Fucsovics.
Marton Fucsovics, world rank 55 in the ATP, is one of the most solid and consistent players on the tour. His steady game and ability to stay in points has proven to be troubling for a lot of opponents he has faced this year. Being an all-surface specialist certainly helps Marton as it has netted him a positive W/L ratio across al competitions and a few QF appearances in the season. Marton has been on the tour for a few years now, and although he may seem like an old veteran, do not count him out in this matchup! With Sofia being one of Fucsovics’ favorite tournaments, historically and physically, he will prove a tough nut to crack for the youngster Sinner.
Sofia Open PredictionThis game on indoor hard courts will always come down to who can hold their serve the most efficiently, and who can pressure the other player. While both players have larger than average serves, Jannik Sinner takes the cake in terms of ace-ability and overall hold percentage. His 1-2 combo that has seen opponents defeated so many times in the past year will be something he needs to rely on in order to beat Fucsovics. Fucsovics on the other hand will be battling with his steady slice and heavy forehand throughout the match, something that could possibly rise the unforce error count up on young Jannik. These two have played this year, at the Australian Open. The result? Fucsovics took the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. Although the match was also on hard, it should not be taken for full reliability in this upcoming matchup. Indoors slightly tilts the balance over to Sinner, and I expect the match to be a slug fest. Breaking serve will be hard for either player, and we could possibly expect some clashes in tiebreaks!
The Over 21.5 for full game, currently priced at 1.69 odds seems like great value, for what should be a 3 setter. Sinner may just edge it out in the end, but all signs point towards long, hard-fought games with very few breaks in between. If both players come out swinging, expect there to be tiebreaks, and thus I am going with the over 21.5 as my prediction for this sizzling matchup!
Prediction: Over 21.5 Games Full Match 1.69
