Houston vs. Texan Tech Prediction - NCAA Basketball Bitcoin SportsbookChoose your favorite cryptocurrency and head to Betcoin.ag to place your bets. When COVID-19 hit the United States in March, the first sport that was affected was College Basketball. Bettors missed out on both the conference and NCAA tournaments, leaving a lot of bitter fans and players. Since then, various sports have gone through the protocols and have allowed the sport to safely resume. College basketball fans are already in for a treat, as we have a great early season matchup between Houston and Texas Tech. I’ll be previewing each team and giving a prediction on who I think will come out in front.
Bet on Houston Cougars Game2019-20 Standings - 23 Wins 8 Losses, ranked #22
The previous season went exceptionally well for the Cougars. Before the abrupt end to the season, they were looking at a high seed in the NCAA tournament. They return with a nearly full roster, featuring everyone except guard Nate Hinton, who moved on to the NBA
Coach: Kelvin Sampson (637 Wins, 331 Losses Overall, 138 Wins, 59 Losses at Houston)
Kelvin Sampson is an excellent coach with an outstanding record at multiple universities. He has brought Houston out of the dumps and has been on an upward trajectory in his 7 years in charge. Under his watch, they finished in the top 25 and won an NCAA tournament game for the first time since 1984.
Key Players: Quentin Grimes, Tramon Mark, Marcus Sasser, Caleb Mills
One thing of note on all 4 of these key players is that they all play guard. Grimes is a former 5 star recruit and transfer from Kansas. He is quite talented and a leader on the team. Mark is an incoming 4 star recruit that had an excellent debut, scoring 22 points off of the bench. The sophomore, Sasser, is looking to make a leap from his good freshman campaign where he averaged 8 points a game. Mills is the team’s leading scorer from last year and is hoping to play in his game after having an ankle injury to start the season
Texas Tech Red Raiders Sports Betting2019-20 Standings: 18 wins, 13 losses
Last year, Texas Tech had a bit of a step down from their 2018-19 season where they finished as runners up in the NCAA tournament. They had a good deal of turnover and were a big beneficiary of transfers being allowed to play right away
Coach: Chris Beard (191 Wins, 74 Losses Overall, 95 Wins, 44 Losses at Texas Tech)
Chris Beard is a fantastic coach, that has taken Texas Tech to new heights. Two seasons ago, he led the Red Raiders to their first ever Final Four appearance, before losing in the championship game to Virginia. While they took a step back in 2019, he has reloaded the roster with talent for a 2020-21 push.
Key Players: Mac McClung, Marcus Santos-Silva, Kyler Edwards, Nimari Burnett
Texas Tech has significant depth, and one could argue that they have up to 10 key players. Mac McClung is a transfer from Georgetown who is a proven scorer. Santos-Silva is also a transfer, from VCU, and a quality inside presence. Kyler Edwards it a returning player that has a very solid overall game. Nimari Burnett is a 5 star recruit that struggled in his first game but the talent is obviously there.
