This is one of the most scariest thing that may possibly happen to anyone.

According to the Webroot Threat Report, nearly 1.5 million new phishing sites are created each month and according to Intel, 97% of people around the world are unable to identify a sophisticated phishing email.

Awareness and readiness are important to counter this kind of risk.

1. Keep Informed About Phishing Techniques

2. Think Before You Click!

3. Install an Anti-Phishing Toolbar

4. Verify a Site’s Security

5. Check Your Online Accounts Regularly

6. Keep Your Browser Up to Date

7. Use Firewalls

8. Be Wary of Pop-Ups

9. Never Give Out Personal Information

10. Use Antivirus Software

Everyone knows it, but to avoid phishing website is pretty hard, also for the advanced users.
They are using a fake website with a special spot that you don't even have to see.

This is why I don't join in any airdrop especially from those sites who are not reputable.

The only XLM airdrop that is legit is from blockchain.info and nothing more for me. You can create a post regarding this kind of scams and phishing sites anytime but there will be still some newbies who will fall into this trap. Sad but true because they are newbies and they don't have any knowledge about it.
That's one reason why beginners have to fall there. Because they do not have outside knowledge and also they do have to do so in order to earn income. But in reality they don't even get income and actually get phishing or scam for participating in all existing airdrops.

The sad thing is they are using google ads nowadays and google is not doing anything important about it until it gets reported. Like they do not care themselves and let it be until it gets reported and they check the report, in reality it should be not getting advertised at first and google should not allow them to exist at all but they let the work done by the people and only check it if it is reported.

If it is not reported (unlikely) google wouldn't do anything about it. Which means you can put a phishing website to google advertisement anytime you want and google will allow you to exist until you get reported and you will make as much money as possible until you get banned. That means for a while all phishing websites are allowed and they are capable of getting money.
Google is really not to be blamed for any of those shit sites, there are thousands of projects that goes through Google ad on a daily basis, and these projects do pass the little verification that Google can do, they are very good at manipulating everything, and there is no way Google cam completely know which site is there to scam or not, like this one op mentioned, to Google, it is just a content that is genuine, and until proving wrong before any action can be taken against them.

People are the ones that needs to be extremely careful with what they look or search for over the internet, the site does not have any bewitching spirit to coerce anyone into to taking action, we do that out of our willingness, so we should be the one to be extra careful in picking sites.

Well if it sounds too good to be true then it's 100% a scam. But guess the most have us learned some hard lessons in the crypto world. Like me, I lost 2 btc at hash-profit a few years ago. :-(

That's why I always bookmark the crypto related important sites on the browser and I never use Google for finding the exchange. Google can be uses for advertising the scam phishing sites and so many people are trapped there easily thanks to Google...

That's true almost fall for that there are so many phishing sites that cloaking their website and advertise using AdWords targetting keywords, so if you do not know how to look or differentiate a url you will become a victim, so bookmarking and using metacert are two of the best practice.

Thanks so much for this information. So far, I found so many phishing and scams in crypto world. Many are deceived both the funds and identity. That is why we must be careful and understand more about phishing. I'm sure that being active in this forum can also help us because they commonly provide real information.
Scammers will always deceive other people to get people fall to their traps. Don't login everywhere and be sure what website you are logging in. Sometimes we are too careless of not checking the URL and that's one of the weakest of most people that falls to these phishing sites.

This is why back then, Facebook banned cryptocurrency advertisements.I remember seeing a lot of ponzi/hyip or phishing scams circulating in Facebook.

Some tips to prevent phishing attacks:
1-Sometimes anti virus or anti-phishing toolbars alerts you if the website is suspicious so be sure that have one of those as precaution
2-Don't click on ads/popups/email links to access a website even if you know it, google it instead.

This is a good way to avoid phising site, nowadays the hackers are getting more and more creative to set a trap for users, its better to check carefully before enter and clicking any link, used different password and email for register and don't give your kyc to unknown site, if you are not sure about the site, find the information thoroughly, don't be reckless and lazy, one wrong click could end up all of your account being hacked

Of a truth, phishing shouldn't be taken for granted as it is a very serious thing. Most platforms, exchanges have been victims of phishing thereby losing huge amount of money. Some of the ways to avoid phishing is by bookmarking the website, getting the right platform links from the telegram group or by searching for the platform on CoinMarketCap.
Secondly we shouldn't give any body any funds whatsoever through a form or otherwise, even on telegram the admin will always point it out that they won't pm or ask for fund, so let's always have that in mind.

This is essentially for those who are new to the space, that they do not fall prey to cheap scams. The above ad seem to be very popular on facebook, a mimic, requesting you to fill the form and make some deposits to claim your rewards. That's is the scam part. The legit site is https://www.coinmama.com/ and NOT coinmama.com.ru. I am sure those who made deposit will not get anything  out of it as it obviously mimicking another popular site. Just be careful.
Any contrary opinion is welcome for discussion pls.

Good share up and a worthy thing to be read for those newbies out there regarding on phishing attempts.

Always put up on mind that never ever clicked randomly even its a giveaway, always have the habit on verifying things up
which google is widely open to search the real url's or even finding sites feedback.

This is bad and shouldn't be welcomed at all, no participants or users of any platform is meant to pay for whatsoever unless the person is participating in public offering. Any project asking for funds via form is always scam and should be stayed away from, of course they will always mimic the genuine projects to carry out their act thus the reason it's wise to ask questions when such arises.
Phishing on the other hand is getting worst, let's endeavour to be careful and alert always.
Also, thanks for bringing this up so that people will learn and be guided.

This is funny, a project asking participants to pay a certain fee should be a sign to those participants that the project is a scam ,but owing to the fact they might mimic the real project those participants might be confused thus sending the payment.
Let it be clear especially to those who don't know, no project will ask for fee before rewarding its participants and anyone doing such should be scam example Is the one posted here. To clear doubt, it is wise to visit the appropriate group of that project to be sure.
Secondly, Phishing is real and should be taken into consideration; especially exchanges, we should bookmark our favourite exchanges in order to be safe.

There are lots of programmes, bounties and airdrops that appear very cheap. Whenever I come across things like this, if I am have not done any intensive research on it, it is already a red light for me to take my leave.
Phishing sites are sent to emails and the likes.

That's right. Your site bookmarks are the first to help you in the fight against crypto phishing sites. I can also recommend the browser extension to the utmost, but know that for some time it has become paid, but effective.
