I don't understand how they expect to cool 6 asics in that form factor. Smells like utter bullshit to con more money before the disappearing act.

The form factor is the same as a high end GPU and it uses roughly the same wattage.  It might not be quiet, a HD7970 at max fan isn't either but is "possible" to remove that level of heat load if designed properly.

It certainly is "possible".  This shouldn't be taken as a statement that BFL will be successful.  The biggest risk is BFL can't deliver on time.  The potential for thermal complications only increase that risk.  A smaller card, say 4 chips and TDP of <250W would give them some breathing room if the "real deal" ends up hotter and more power hungry than the guesstimate.

Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending
Another fuckin' thought came to mind before I headed back to the beginning of this thread. If BFL is such an up-and-up company, why is it that they are no longer accepting PayPal or Credit Cards--only Bitcoin, Dwolla, and bank transfers?

Here's an idea to explore if you want a refund: Upgrade via a bank transfer, then the next day claw back all the funds.

I am now on a crusade to bring these mother fuckin' clowns down. Quit jacking me off now, for I have work to do!

MadNESSSSSSS!!!

PS: Quit posting for I can get this post in. This will be the forth attempt.

PSS: Fifth!  Grin Seriously!

PSSS: Fuck me! Sixth!

EDIT: I have a feeling this thread is goin' to be a good read.  Grin

Butterfly Labs is the pioneer and has remained the leader of the bitcoin mining hardware industry since 2011.  We are the only 28nm hardware manufacturer with a proven ASIC design.  We have 45 employees, a mature production capacity and supply chain.   Our 28nm competitors have never deliverd a single product.  Their manufacturing, supply chain and engineering are all back of the napkin ideas.

Somebody jack me off! The only fuckin' truth in the above is "Our 28nm competitors have never deliverd a single product." I've never deliverd barn wood. It's possible that a woman on the south side of Chicago deliverd a baby, but that stretching it.

Sorry to harp on about ORSoC, but I did do a lot of research into them and Josh what is with this whackness?

We've been in hard development for approximately six months.  We're now we're in the final stage of the process which is wafer start at the foundry.  However, we aren't shipping anytime soon.  This is a Pre-Order product, so if you're uncomfortable waiting an indeterminate length of time for the final phase of development, do NOT pre-order this product. With that in mind, our current schedule is on track for shippments towards end of year.

I love this one. ..  6 months ago they say!  They didn't even have their first set bumped by then let alone packaged and tested

Yep.
I've said this for the longest fucking time. I'm really peeved how RIGHT my recent bitching about BFL has been the past 2 months. I didn't want to be right, I wanted to be wrong.

Well, I'll give them this, it is a hell of a lot easier to produce that one little card than it is a whole big machine with many cards at 400Gh.

How about an upgrade of our Jalapeno's that won't make any money? Just put as many chips in that little bad boy as they can. Instead of a 7Gh Jalapeno, how about a 12-15Gh one for the same price?

The quote above clearly states that BFL is a 28nm hardware manufacturer. Am I the only one that hasn't seen a single one of their 28nm mining rigs?

Furthermore, one of the reasons BFL gave for not honoring refunds is that they have already allocated funds to procure all the parts needed to build the entire backlog. Kind of throws that excuse out the window when scores of people are now able to cancel their order in lieu of an upgrade, doesn't it?

This is utter bullshit on so many levels, I honestly don't know where to begin, but I'll give it hell once I finish reading this thread, for I just found it.

Montherfuckin' Madness!

Q:What makes you so sure you'll deliver when you say you will?

A: BFL began in 2011 with the announcement of it's first FPGA bitcoin miner, the now famous 'Single'.  The delivered speed was in range of expectations12 months?, but the power consumption was greater than design simulation indicated was so high even Josh wouldn't buy one.  With that experience under our belt, we set out to raise the bar again with our second generation FPGA miner (The original Mini Rig). ?   ...

The page says:
Tape out August 2013
November/December delivery

Tape out for their "old" ASICS was supposed to be September 2012, with October 2012 delivery.

It's August 2013 now and people that ordered a Single SC late June 2012 are still waiting.

Why would anyone trust BFL ever again?

Really?  Why would it be PCIex16.  I get the idea of making it PCIe so using standard motherboards to densely rackmount.  By why PCIex16?  Using a x1 slot would allow more cards per mother board.
This is only a photoshop. Final product may differ from the picture. (Might be PCI-E X16 X2_lol at the end)

Someone should let them know their mockup photo doesn't match that description.  That is clearly a x16 edge connector.

PCI Express  -  Monarch cards consume two PCI slots when installed in a standard ATX montherboard.  The PCIe format used is 1X for maximum compatibility.
