I'm from Romania. And our main problem are the leaders that are very corrupt and are trying to change the law in their favour

The biggest problem in our country is unemployment resulting to crime and poverty. Because of unemployment, many people are engaged in illegal acts such as drug running/pushing, gambling and killings in the name of money.
And because of unemployment, many people especially in remote areas suffer from poverty.

The biggest problem of my country is the ignorance and being a crab mentality of some individual. We always give suggestion, judgement, critic to some leaders and friends without seeing first our own attitude. We must have discipline in our self and the heart to help others so that we could have a productive and a better country to live in.

There's just too many of us for limited resources. I mean per square meter of space in a given land there is just too many of us trying to earn, eat and actually live. With that alot more opportunities are wasted, time in traffic worsens, health care goes down the drain, labor becomes much more cheaper, housing worsens even more. It's like a culling is really needed

Aside from the previous administration was being corrupt, its citizen remains undiscipline. Unlike our neighboring country that are strongly built by their disciplinary acts.

One of the biggest problem of our country is poverty caused by different issues. Lack of education, unequal opportunity and unemployment are just some of them.

I'm from the Philippines and these are some of my opinion on this.

The biggest problem I find to be the root cause of everything (poverty, rampant crimes etc.) is the lack of sense of community or nationhood. Most Filipinos lack the patriotism that other successful nations have.

Second is the problem of "me first" (seems a big influence from western culture) instead of thinking of the society/community as a whole.
This, in turn, creates an environment wherein cutthroat competition for resources is the norm.
When people value the community first instead of themselves, respect the circumstances of each other and look at the bigger picture we will have a better shot on prosperity.

Example (current events happening)

Transportation modernization - govt is pushing to improve the decrepit jeepneys to be a better mode of transportation. A big group of these jeepney owners and operators are blocking the said program as it will change the way they are profiting from their business. As a show of protest, they froze the transport system for two straight days. I really find it sad that a small group of society can immobilize a city and make life harder for everyone if called upon to sacrifice for the greater good.

Third is overpopulation due to the Catholic church interference. It is currently a double-edged sword, we are currently enjoying the demographic dividends same as China had 20 years ago. Problem is in the next 40 years, the overpopulation we have will surely bite us in the long run. The country is predominantly Catholic so bishops are always countering efforts by the government to curb the rate of birth here. The meddling of the church is not helping those who are most vulnerable in the society to pick themselves up and live decently. The ones having big families are those that are also the poorest. Fuck the bishops saying that it is good to be poor because the God in afterlife will reward them (how sick can these bishops be to sponsor such thoughts).

Just other problems are:

We also have a wrong sense of pride, we take too much pride in superficial things (beauty contest, singing contests, basketball etc.) than on solid gains (economic growth, business confidence).
Smart/wealth shaming is also prevalent as people would just want to be the dumbest/poorest person in the room just not to be noticed. I call this a loser/colonial mentality. Being too confident is looked down upon by most of the society. I think it inhibits the potential of those that are excellent and promoting mediocrity in the society. Yes, we have become a society that celebrates mediocrity instead of excellence.

You need to analyze why the businesses are not being set up in your country. The same situation prevails here, in India. Here the red tape, bureaucracy, and corruption are the main reasons why the businessmen are afraid to set up their ventures. So they migrate to safer destinations such as the middle east and invest their money on projects there.

Poverty is the main reason why our country is not progressing because in our country many people doesn't have any work to provide their needs. There is almost no vacant in all business to provide the population of non workers that's why they are working to other countries to sustain their needs.

Our BIGGEST problem here in our country is CORRUPTION AND DRUG PUSHERS. One of the hardest thing to clean in all countries..

I think the biggest problem in my country is the citizens itself, those undisciplined people who constantly messing in the society. Killings, hatred, absurdity etc. who keeps spreading and continuing to pass by generation to gen.

In the USA I would say that lobbyist are our biggest problem

For me the biggest problem of our country is poverty.

Corruption and the importance of connections and money

Just browsing through the post, i see a lot of discussion about poverty and corruption - is this due to the moral implications for society or due to people actually feeling these affects on their wallets?

(From an individual point of view)

It's usual stuff like corruption, bureaucracy and so on. But I think the biggest problem is the people who don't want to change in the face of new challenges and changes. Government is not the most easygoing structure either, but it is the mentality of its people which brings the most serious problems to face

Well , I think the biggest problem in our country is Poverty and Corruption . There’s a lot of people who’s suffering and die because of depression , many people dont have a shelter and money . They thinking on how they can get a money so that they can buy a foods for their family . CORRUPTION , We all know that there’s a lot of people working in government that it has a high position who corrupted our money .

COrruption and Poverty this is the biggest problems in our country in the Philippines we call the corrupt politicians CROCODILLE.

In my country, poverty is one of the biggest problem in my country.  Corruption, lack of education and illegal drugs are some of the causes why my country is suffering from this problem.
