I always get a bit panicky when a coin forks, worried i'll lose my stash...so what do i need to do, just click on the update (i have a normal computer windows wallet)
and it does it automatic?, will i need to change passwords, will it create new keys?..sorry if these are daft questions but i don't want to feck it all up on the last hurdle. Shocked
and a big thumbs up to the bitbay team Kiss

There is no risk of losing your stash, just make sure you are upgraded.

If it's the QT update here:
https://github.com/bitbaymarket/bitbay-core-peg/releases/tag/v3.0.0a

The QT just replace the previous QT with the file above and you are upgraded. That's all. Of course always make sure you have good backups.

IF it's the MARKETS/HALO client then download at the links formerly sent. Run the updater. Then rename wallet.dat to wallet-original.dat and then load then new Halo. Then load your two private keys from the file menu(file->open->normal account). Or if you have multiple accounts load each one in any order. Then once you finish loading them it should show a zero balance which is fine, just click the rescan button on the lower right corner. Rescan is different from resync as it just rebuilds wallet.dat. Once that's done you should be up to date. To be clear you don't need new keys. Your two private keys in Halo are your account (key1 and key.private). So just stay with that same account.

Is there any deadline for the QT update? What happens  if we delay the upgrade of it in term of staking rewards?

Hello, David, what about WebWallet in Dynamic Peg future? It will work correctly?
I see it as very important to have a high-quality web wallet - it's simple, it's clear for most people, it's our way to mass acceptance.

Yes, both the web wallet and a Mac build that doesn't run Wine will be the highest dev priorities aside from maintaining the new build and assisting advising on exchanges and stuff. After that, the only thing left for a completion of everything would be web markets. Still, getting volume into this peg and marketing would be the biggest priority however I agree that without a web wallet it's harder to market to newcomers. And occasionally there will be people who buy and hold and only want to store on web wallet and android.

lol bitcointalk doesn't let me delete a duplicate post... strange. OK well yeah everyone it's what we have all waited for. I expect as close as possible to 100% of the network on the newest builds. The Halo version is 1.38

New build is here:
bithalo.github.io/bithalo/downloads/BitBayLinux.html
bithalo.github.io/bithalo/downloads/BitBayMac.html
bithalo.github.io/bithalo/downloads/BitBayUpdateWin.html
bithalo.github.io/bithalo/downloads/BitBayWin.html

That's the peg build. We will update the links on the main site very soon as well with peg version of QT. I will post again when site is up. I just figure we may as well start migrating everyone to the peg now.

QT links will follow shortly. Please pay attention to this thread in the coming days.

Peg will commence on the 21st so we need everyone updated before then.

Trading on Latoken will probably be a little bit later from that day but I anticipate it's soon because all that is left for them is to finish withdraws and we test withdraws. The trading seemed to work like dynamicpeg although their dev stand is a tedious. Still Craig and Shorn reported the results seemed good. Either way, we have to fork now so we can get started on porting over Blocknet trading as well.

Dear devs, how about this exchange: https://twitter.com/VCCExchange
It seems they are friendly to PoS coins, and many are already in the list there: OKCash, NavCoin, NEO, PIVX, ReddCoin, Stratis.
But definitely their list is not full enough without BitBay!  Smiley

but hard to get liquidity without being listed on an established exchange

We have Latoken and I still am talking to others. It's just a process. Since obviously there is many scam exchanges and this includes "established" ones. However we will fork really soon probably within a month

Thanks for the heads-up.  I've pencilled in 17/01/2020 as the day it all happens!!   Grin

is it possible to get listed on any of these exchanges?
https://fuk.io/no-kyc-exchanges-list/

Some of the top exchanges may be a bit expensive to list. But we definitely have them on our radar.
Some of the top exchanges would love to have what we have... we are next level. Be Free.

Good Question.
Answer: We really don't trust many exchanges these days. Also, Bay needs additional programming to run its 1st In The World Dynamic Peg - so every exchange simply cannot do the programming that's necessary to run our unique "Stable Coin" during our early implementation stages.

Update from LAToken on the Peg (copied from Slack Channel):

From latoken:

“Hello, we plan to finish main part tomorrow till the evening, so you can do deposit, make trades, automatically cancel your orders if peg will change and your new balance will be smaller than order amount. Maybe will work withdrawals, but not sure, anyway we can do it fast. So on Monday (or may be tomorrow) i think we can test it and we will do workaround some corner cases.”

 Cool

Thanks for posting that, Tradersnow, it is very much appreciated.  Kiss

If you become aware of any further progress re the peg at Latoken, please do post it here.  I only really use this forum for info, not being on Slack, Telegram etc.

Thanks again.

Sure thing, will do!

Also, here is the BAY testnet chart:
https://bitbaymarket.github.io/ratedb-testnet/

Should be interesting to watch this over the next few weeks as they perform test trades etc.

What does the ratedb testnet mean? Is this LAtoken test net?

And what happened to dynamicpeg website? Thanks

Yep that's correct, the ratedb chart is showing the dynamic peg testnet price, which is now running through LAToken's trading engine. Any trading tests that LAToken does should show up as price movements here.

The Dynamic Peg website domain has changed to https://ych.lynxline.com/.
This is where a new exchange is being built/tested for BAY's dynamic peg in addition to it being hosted on LAToken.

(From D. Zimbeck 10-08-2019 - "*Bay has been around for 5 years, and is one of the most developed projects in the industry. All it takes is for someone to look at github and the 50k lines of original code in Halo to know that. BitHalo and BitBay were the first smart contracts, a year before Ethereum. Although they are different because this project uses double deposit escrow. And that doesn't even get started on the peg.")

So - What is Bit Bay?
(From the BitBay Dynamic Peg Overview)

BitBay is the *World’s first peer-to-peer, decentralized contracting platform.
Everything from household items to real estate have been bought and sold using BitBay’s marketplace, all without any third-party involvement.

We are proud to announce a brand new method of price control for BitBay (BAY), one that has yet to be seen in the stablecoin industry.
It’s called the Dynamic Peg. With this system of liquidity control, BAY now serves as both a store of value, and a medium of exchange for users. It stimulates organic trading volume, increases potential profit for investors, and creates price stability for our p2p marketplace.

It is purely decentralized, non asset-backed and most importantly, a democratic system. The Dynamic Peg reduces volatility, without anchoring the price to any one point. Through a secure Proof of Stake 3.0 voting mechanism, stakers can now collectively adjust the liquidity of BAY’s total supply. This creates three balances for users: Liquid, Reserve and Frozen...

To learn more go to:
https://bitbay.market/downloads/bitbay-dynamic-peg-intro.pdf and https://bitbay.market/decentralized-marketplace

SIDE NOTE:
Not being on major exchanges at this point in time while the peg is being implemented (Exchange(s) that host BAY need to be programmed for it!), might be the best thing that ever happened to BAY. And, for those of us that are early investors, when BAY relaunches on an exchange at $0.20 - BOOM!
All the pain will have been worth it!  Cheers!!! - Doc
