if you were looking for the particular altcoins as the replacement of bitcoin then i think difficult to figure out it because bitcoin still the best of cryptocurrencies but if you were looking for the best investment coin instead of bitcoin i think ETH is good as most people says this coin is strong even only bitcoin could able to beat volume support for ETH and this is showing that ETH would never lack of interest at least for next several years
Yep, Bitcoin is really the best coin,no coin can replace the position of bitcoin because firstly btc is appeared for a long time, and it becomes more and more popular all over the world which  makes many people trust on it. Secondly, bitcoin is predited to have a bright future which make most of us feel safe. However, if you compare bitcoin and Ethereum, you will find the speed of Ethereum growth is particularly potential. So I think Etherum is the best alternative of bitcoin in 2018.

I think it might be ETH, ETH is the smart contract. It actually affects the whole cryptocurrency market, so it's possible to go beyond bitcoin.
Probably true ETH is quite popular right now, and all possibilities can happen. But I think the value of ETH is still a lot of comparison of different values. so what may be ETH beyond the bitcoin value in the near future?

Bitcoin has a powerful competitor - Ripple. This cryptocurrency yesterday ahead of the capitalization of Ethereum, and took second place after bitcoin.

Ripple can't be a competitor for Bitcoin, it's a different beast.

It's completely centralized and the number of coins can be increased in any moment...

No one needs alternative. We need just good options. I believe Ethereum and Litecoin are two of the VERY best. As per more, I completely believe that there is much more that we need to look at.

I am really into this Coinzai, I have being following them for last 2-3 months, and finally they are good to go with their website live and soon rest of the things will be up. I feel this is going to be pretty much revolutionary option, it just can’t be missed.

Ethereum remains a strong alternative to BTC. The acceptance of ETH is growing by the day, especially the use of ETH for most ICOs is driving the utilization of the coin on daily basis. And the fact that it is cheaper than BTC too is an asset.

Many coins can claim the BTC, but I think he will be the first. Look can XVG, GBYTE, ODN, VIA,XRB. From Ethereum also get rid of not worth it

It depends very much on what you want to do with the coin. If just "get rich", all fair and good projects will do okay as soon as the money stops leaving the crypto scene.
I just want to add to the list Monero and Waves, since I think that nobody did this yet.
of all the coins you mentioned above and with the addition of monero and waves can be used as an alternative coin to be used as an investment other than bitcoin, but I feel I have to prepare a lot of money to invest in the coins because the price is high.

Definitely not verge or zcash.
ETH or LTC maybe.

I think 2018 will be all about scalability.
So projects like iota, raiblocks, and raiden will start to shine.
At this point, it is hard to tell which one will take over.
I think by the end of Q2 2018, we will start to see a couple projects gain a lot of momentum.

I love btc, but I really think this year is it for bitcoin.
It's growth is unsustainable, and on top of that, it just istn't scalable.
It is basically unusable for small transactions, we are looking at $20 fees now.
And there hasn't been a fork that the community agrees on yet.
The tech is 10 years old, it's time for something better to replace it.

I would look over for this new blockchain rival rather then look up this altcoins. Im scared if the new tech would destroy blockchain this year. This will make all coin and tokens in the blockchain drop all. Beware

An alternative to bitcoin can be considered only an etherium (provided that they solve their problems with scalability) and perhaps even a lightcoin. In my opinion, these are two alternatives to bitcoin.

For me Ethereum is the best coin afer bitcoin and I am pretty sure on that 2018 will be the year for ethereum because it going very good from last many months and good developments are going in their platform and I am sure it will grow huge in 2018 and those who will be holding will be very happy. Other coins which you mentioned are also very good but for me Ethereum is the best after bitcoin.

I don't like bitcoin cash but now it looks like the best BTC competitor due to fast transactions and low tx fees. But unfortunately it has the founder in opposite to the original BTC.

Yes, I also like the idea of Ethereum or Litecoin. But today's realities are such that the favorite is Bitcoin cash. Not a ripple, even though it shows growth, namely Cash. Let's see what will happen next.
