I am a developer currently working on a Bitcoin related project.
I don't want to give full details of the project but it is essentially going to be a gambling/raffle based game.

I'd like full access so that I can receive some advice/guidance on my current security plan.
I want to ensure that everything is as secure as possible!

Thanks

I am offering Oracle DBA services for BTC, in addition to generic computer services.  Maybe even considering offering some of the products I have in development in a hosted SaaS environment for USD and BTC. Any suggestions are always welcome.

Hi All,

Super newbie here ( in Bitcoin terms) but with a large experience( read almost 20 years) in traditional payment systems ( ATM,EFT-POS). Since i see there are many projects involving Bitcoin hardware keys, coins, smartcards, etc is there any interest (i mean from a merchant, miner, exchange point of view) in developing applications for real life situations like paying with a hardware token( smartcard, QRcode, etc) goods and items via an EFT-POS terminal?

My idea would be a system that is able to handle transactions with BTC/LTC for real life in store purchases with smart cards, QR codes, Tokens, similar to what you have right now with traditional Debit/Credit cards. The system would be composed of a transaction server, able to talk to the p2p Bitcoin network and handle the entire cryptography session involved in transferring the BTC from the user wallet to the shop owner wallet, and the software in the EFT-POS with a light client that will just initiate a transaction, sign the request and wait for the successful reply from the network. There is enough cryptography embedded in current EFT-terminals and also enough security in relation to key storage that i think these devices can be safely used for real life purchases with cryptocurrency.

On the other hand, what are the legal implications ( minimal requirements) in running such a business of providing transaction processing software and facilitating transaction operations between customers and businesses? ( AU,US,EU limitations?)especially AU because i am currently there ?

thank you

I'm developing an android app for btc-e. When there is enough animo, I will port this to Windows 8 phone and maybe to iOS.
I'd like access to the forums to ask for some feedback and new idea's.

I do feel there aren't enough Bitcoin apps for WP8. So i'm quite sure you'll make some people happy by releasing it.

I'm still looking for a good wallet app, though.

I represent a small computer repair business and we have decided to open a side venture to help cancer patients.  What makes this venture different is that we plan to accept bitcoin as well as other gifts to help provide assistance to current and recent cancer sufferers.  We had an employee that went through chemo and had stage 3 cancer when he told me about what he and his family went through it really hit me.  I'll give a little information so you can understand what we've decided to do.  While he's no longer with the company his story has really touched us so here is the "clipping":

He had been working at a factory for over 12 years then it closed due to the recent economic downturn.  He then decided to go back to college in order to make himself more employable.  While he was attending college he found out that he had cancer.  While going over all of the treatment options his oncologist introduced them to an "aid" person that helped them sign up for various programs that should have helped them pay for the massive medical bills that are common for cancer patients.  Needless to say because his wife was working and made a little over 40k/yr they weren't eligible for assistance.  Their insurance covered a lot of their costs though but it didn't help them when it came to covering their bills at home because he was unable to work.  They decided to request a temporary stop on their student loans and mortgage while he was going through chemo and various procedures he had to go through.  While the student loan people were generous their mortgage people were rude and unwilling to help them.  There was something said about how cancer was a long term issue and didn't qualify for any sort of payment assistance.  I'm not sure of the exact nature of the response.  It has been a couple years since I last saw him and heard his story but I've always wanted to do something to help people ever since he told me about everything that went on during his treatment.  Relay for life, the American cancer society, etc.  None of them seemed to really fit.  I asked my boss about what we could do and he was like myself... at a loss so we continued to brainstorm about what we could do.

Fast forward to the past three or so months.  A couple programmer friends and a professor told me about bitcoin after a lengthy discussion about how powerful and efficient GPU's are at password cracking.  It was a very disturbing conversation and one that I wish I had never heard.  But that's neither here nor there.  One of them mentioned token generation/bitcoin and I became very interested.  Over the past few weeks I've been reading the forums and learning about bitcoin and the awesome potential and community that is growing every day.  After some digging and more research I had an eureka moment.  I could support the bitcoin community and also help cancer patients.  After sitting down with the owner we decided to open a website that would take bitcoin gifts as well as sell bitcoin related support equipment such as custom clothing etc.  We also thought it would be a decent idea to offer computer hardware at a discount for people that purchase the gear via bitcoin.  The proceeds will go towards helping people like our former friend and co-worker that were facing foreclosure etc. as a result of having to fight with cancer.

So my boss congratulated me and said, "This is your puppy and I'll help you any way I can.  But it's up to you to make it work."  So with that in mind I decided to post here and get some feedback as well as see if anyone would like to assist me in getting the site up and running.  My boss already bought the domain name and I've applied to bitpay.  Anyhow I'd like to know what you folks think about it and if anyone would want to help then feel free to send me a P.M.

We've got the first stages of the website up and running.  Feel free to let us know what you think or help us get started. you can check it out at:

Name is Nathan Hangen, and I'm the co-founder of Virtuous Giant, a web development company. Our main product is the IgnitionDeck WordPress crowdfunding plugin, which supports bitcoin payments. We really like Bitcoin because of its digital nature, and because of the way fees are calculated. Essentially, zero middlemen.

Offering Logo Design for Businesses and websites. If you need a logo done for something, you can tell me what you are visioning, and I will do some mock-ups of different designs and let you decide what you want before you pay. I am a graphic artist and really wouldn't charge very much, depending on project, but for the most part it is a hobby that I make a bit of fiat for here in my town. Smiley

Let me know if anybody is interested!

Hi guys,

I am a hardware and software developer who is going to be making hardware (ASICs) for mining bitcoins.  These chips will be on fast, low-power 40nm technology, which allows hash rates on individual chips of up to 60 GH/s! More detail to come on the Mining Hardware forum, but I am going to be setting up for an initial run of 150 devices either through Kickstarter (only if they accept BTC) or my own website.  There is still a little bit of development to complete and a lot of money to raise.

I'm working on a bitcoin travel booking site. But, not like the ones you're used to where you fill out a form and someone books the travel on your behalf manually, and adds a fee onto your price in exchange. I want to build a site that uses existing brokerage services to book travel directly and make money from commissions instead of fees paid by the customer.

However, I'm needing some help with market validation and market research in general. In order to pay for the back-end travel booking service, I need to hit a certain amount of sales per month. If I don't, the difference comes out of pocket.
