We think the success of Bitcoin Gold depends on the leadership. We guess that it is an interesting idea.

Bitcoin Gold? What the heck is that? I've never heard of it before. Btw, on marketcoincap, BTG is assigned to Bitgem.

Bitcoin Gold is a fork of bitcoin just like Bitcoin Cash. One of the notable changes is that they have changed algorithm to Equihash which makes it asic resistance and its a memory intensive algorithm. The idea is to bring back GPU mining plus some other changes.

Sorry, I'd like to know, have this fork taken place or it's planning to, cause I have not heard anything of such fork coming up, except now and in this thread.

Another fork? Why? Is this just other coins trying to piggyback on bitcoin. I suppose it will still be profitable as people will still trade in it.
But what will be happening if there will be no miner will try to mine it and run the network, that forked coin should be worthless in my opinion, as you can see the bitcoin cash needs reduce its difficulty to give a profitability to the miners or incentives. And what about the next forked coin of bitcoin?

Will be no fork on the 1st October. It's going to be on 25th October or 15th November. I don't know the list of wallets which are going to support new coin, but I suppose it's gonna be the same which supported Bitcoin Cash on the 1st August.

Is this supposed fork going to have a 'snapshot' on Oct 25th? or is the previous post above true and  it has to sit in a 'wallet' quote a few messages up correct....

If it is a 'snapshot' I will still think bitcoin gold is silly as f*ck... but I'll get more than dust out of it in paper worth...so meh.....whatever....

As far as i know you can get free Bitcoin gold if you have bitcoin
on the Exodus Wallet  before october 25.
In my opinion it is another fork like bitcoin cash and everyone will earn some free money nothing more than that.

wtf is the exodus wallet? So they are gonna fork to BTC gold...but only if you have all you btc on a wallet I never heard of?

yeah ....that is not a true fork...that is a gimmick Smiley

Frankly I don't believe they will be succeed. BCH is alive just because have pretty good support of BTC miners. I think BCH as well as upcoming bitcoin gold will die next 1-2 years.

LOL, 1-2 years is a very long time to stay alive. most altcoins don't even last a couple of months before they get dumped hard, and then their blockchain dies and eventually they disappear.
i'd say if it stays around for 1-2 years, it will be doing fine.

despite what you said i have a different speculation about BTG, i believe that because it is GPU mineable and also because the fact that it nearly coincides with the death of ETH mining, there will be a decent support for it which can keep the coin going.

Hello,

Does anybody know which wallets plan to support the Bitcoin Gold (BTG) friendly fork on October 1st? And what, if anything, should be done by the user?
where did you hear October the 1st? looks like it is actually happening or possibly happening on October the 25th and not 4 days ago? here is an article about it https://news.bitcoin.com/another-bitcoin-fork-bitcoin-gold-project-plans-to-fork-bitcoin-next-month/

If i hold my bitcoins in an exchange would they also credit me bitcoin gold tokens just like bittrex and other exchangers did to bitcoin holders with bitcoin cash fork? Or it is necessary to move my btc in exodus wallet?
The exchange site will make an announcement about the decision if they want or not to distribute the new bitcoin forked coin to the bitcoin holders in the exchange sites. This should be confirmed by the exchange before the fork will be happening.

At this rate we are going to get an innumerable amount of forks I was not aware of this fork but to be honest I do not care, bitcoin could not change its algorithm without declaring a frontal war against the miners so that is the last option and will only be used if the miners go with the segwit2x fork, but I’m curious who is supporting this fork?

IT would be good to understand if "Bitcoin Gold" has anything to do with gold or if the word "gold" has just been attached to make it shine...

I hope this gold will be shinier than Bitcoin Cash. I will be shifting my entire portfolio to Bitcoin when the friendly fork of Bitcoin Gold starts. If I am not mistaken this will be implemented also the way Bitcoin Cash did last August. There will be Bitcoin Gold to all Bitcoin holders in selected wallets.  Grin
