It must be acknowledged that bitcoin marketcap currently dominates over 40%, and certainly it can be said that bitcoin has no competition, of course this is not good for the market and bitcoin because it is too strong it becomes a monopoly.

That's exactly what you say many altcoin been trying to surpass bitcoin but they fail because good features of bitcoin is a solid machine for the people embraced of bitcoin that's why until now bitcoin is very popular and you are right Bitcoin has no competition.

Altcoins are built not because of the competiton but because they do offer other service that bitcoin does not have . That is the reason why they are called alt or alternative coins because they can be used as an alternative next to bitcoin if you are not satisfied the services offered by bitcoin.

People do often mistakin that cryptos are in a competition because of their prices that may seem to change . They can rise or fall and they can surpass each others ranking because of price change but that is probably normal and that is only the effect of volatility.

Bitcoin has no competition? You just mentioned the sidechains! The question is that today definitely the BTC has no competition and this is healthy? By the Austrian school of economics, competition is a means to make more profit! Being sovereign leads to profits but are superior to a competition! It is precisely because there is no competition that the BTC is drowning, right? People buy BTC and altcoins, buying BTC believing in a valuation and buy altcoins as ways to get more BTC, why would anyone buy altcoins thinking of appreciation? I agree with that, because I see no reason that bitcoin competes any business in the world. Maybe other businesses they think are bitcoins that compete with them but why some of those businesses are adopting bitcoin systems

I think so that bitcoin has no competition. Even me, I only use bitcoin, I'm not using any alternative coin its only bitcoin. But in our scenario who would think that bitcoin is going to step down by other coin? I think that bitcoin is more dominant to another coin.
