When you get yourself into bitcoin it is not literally gambling, depending on how you will use btc. but in the real world of crypto when you go into something that you can possibly earn like holding few btc, always remember that there's also this chance that you will lose because value of btc fluctuates just like in forex. So it's like you're into gambling by holding btc, right?

Yes it is not gambling, literally, if you are not using it to bet for any gambling game. What makes bitcoin a gambling scheme when you take risk of investing your money on it. But mostly, people are always thankful to bitcoin for changing their lives.

I don't know why people say bitcoin is gambling. Its not gambling. You are investing your money and time. You use your internet. So its not gambling dealing with it.

It diffinately not gambling. Really, but when you look at your investment you take the risk, and risk is what gambling was all about. So in my point of view, bitcoin is not gambling, however if you lose your investment its seems like you loose your bet in a gambling way.

People are always asking if they are going to sell or hold everytime there is a surge or crash, so with this I consider Bitcoin as a gambling, if you are constantly looking at it's price like dollar and gold you can consider it an investment and gambling.

Bitcoin is something new for the society. To rice in price for about 2000% in a few years is associating with low trusted assets maybe.
But people have to understand that there is the same potential with bitcoin that is losers, maybe many are benefiting but when they need money then do not care about the price so they sell when the price is cheap.

Sometimes, I also get confused if it is gambling or not. I tell myself I am investing in a company. It can either grow or lose. Doesn't sound convincing to me though.

Sometimes I also consider bitcoin as gambling, because here we also rely on luck
Since almost 70% of the bitcoin is unpredictable, no one knows, when the price will rise, and when it will go down.
But everyone has a personal assessment

Yes of course bitcoin is not gambling. I think gambling and trading are different else. Gambling and investing bitcoin are also different things. Trading bitcoin is something like the people buy and sell "a thing" like the other things. In all trading, it's an usual thing when someone get profit or loss.

in my view bitcoin is open to gambling, because if anyone thinks of bitcoin as gambling, it is a false and dubious assumption. because according to some views of educated people. gambling is the process by which a person will feel a loss in a game, and will feel lucky a lot if he wins. and this bitcoin is not a gambling game. thank you

I agree that it isn't.

But remember, gambling depends on how a person behaves. If someone throws their life savings into Bitcoin, that would be gambling.

Because we know that bitcoin is famous for coins, and certainly people think it is a coin in the intention to play poker, which is where it is to the same in terms of the mention of a chip that is shaped like a coin, and people will definitely think it is a gamble, but if we can explain to them surely they will understand what from bitcoin that we are now present ..

Bitcoin can be said to be a gamble if used for betting,
it all depends on where people see it themselves Bitcoin is not a gamble except the person.

Bitcoin is not just some dumb internet money. Its not gambling!  It is a finance phenomenon that will take over the world of free trade.Enormous amounts of money have been invested in Bitcoin’s infrastructure, such as exchanges, debit cards, special wallets, legal and blockchain innovation. Each new piece of Bitcoin infrastructure  makes it authentic and not just some kind of Internet game.

While I essentially agree with the argument made repeatedly in this thread that bitcoin is a currency/investment, I think if we're honest with ourselves, we'd admit that bitcoin holders are about 50/50 right now. That is 50% gamblers (or, lets call them "wild speculators" so we don't split hairs), and 50% true believers/investors. It wasn't always this way, but especially in 2017 I think that's been increasingly the case. These gamblers are the people who freak out every time bitcoin makes any movement whatsoever. They are the people who constantly try to figure out which ICO they can hold and dump 20 minutes later. They are the people who, everytime they get a whiff of a government even thinking about imposing some kind of regulation, they sell everything. So bitcoin itself isn't gambling, but a lot of the people involved are, in a sense, gamblers. And I know that because they barely understand the thing that they've invested in. A normal investor, buying into a company, usually at least has some general conception about that company's business model and prospects. In crypto, I really feel about half of the people have no idea of whats going on at all, don't understand the technology, its possible applications, its origins, and instead just hope to make a quick buck on the hot new thing.

It is little bit like gambling, because there is no concrete application yet. The only difference is that we are gambling that this technology will pay off in the future
