Without wanting to be a doom monger I think the chances of catching these scum is pretty slim. They could be in any country, and will no doubt have used proxies / Tor network for everything they did and used Virtual Credit Cards / gift cards.

Of course that is no reason to not keep at them and try to uncover everything possible. I wish you all the best and hope they have left a chink somewhere because no doubt they will have done this before and will try again.

I am not too sure about that. They seemed to be pretty inept at covering their tracks when tumbling the coins. Also ordering miners from the very forums they used to help in the scam is either very brazen or very stupid, probably both.

IMO this is the most likely route to a positive resolution. If the seller of the machines can verify the address the goods payment from the wallet address were sent to then it is a massive hit

thanks rascal... hopefully he can help...  thx pete

Someone mentioned earlier that they had somehow traced the btc to buying antminers, I'm not too good at the blockchain sleuthing, but if we can nail the time & amount, we might be able to get antminer to help out with a shipping address.

It was 'The Observer' and your brother said he PM'ed him earlier....  He traced it by the BTC addresses paid to Sushi.

Hang on a minute. You are saying they rented the physical space in the same building of CMS ? Really ?

Seems to me if this is true then that would be a better line of inquiry as someone had to have contact with the alleged perpetrators of this crime. If this is true of course.

That would be the proper line to take to actually get some results by the UK authorities. Which I assume have already been contacted during all of the heavy investigating that has been going on. They have been notified right ?
no, all that was BS from "Rebecca"

ok i stand corrected on the building...still a pretty good trick on the phone number being the same but 1 digit off...to look like an extension of CMS...not as hard to do thou

anyone know anyone that used their other site (was in the same history ip as www.ctsminer.com) www.butterflyiabs.com ? how much did they get on that scam site? was warned about that one on BFL fourms..wonder how much they got?

(man with no morals I could make a lot of scratch doing this stuff)

sigh

Thought you said you called them and cts and the same person answered. Man this really does suck, sorry. Don't let greed trick you into hasty decisions.

pretty sophisitcated scam they rented part of the bldg of CMS a legit chip maker and the phone number called was 1 digit off from CMS.....same group that did www.butterflyiabs.com clone site a couple months ago and imho likely same group they did the frostbite 1TH miner this last summer.....imho this is organized crime big time operatoin imho

again hopefully they can trace somethingfrom the miner equip the bought with the proceeds and these guys can at least get some of that at the worst if not btc
don't see why not....they surely are not gonna be at the address this miner equip shows up at...not with fraud reports in the UK and USA etc...

anyway probably the only redress possible is proof to antminer and the rest and they re-direct the miner shipments at least to legit people burnt vs when they prove the asic trail on the bitcoin paid was tainted

anyway I think this was less greed then trying to get in on a KNC type early deal...ie advantage yes....greed not so much imho.

RickJames...
I think you may have read we called CTS and CMS,yes. Easy to mix those up. But although Maui was able to speak with "Rebecca" at CTS, CMS had a machine on. Later, when CTS's machine was on, we heard a similar message. I was never able to contact CMS until just recent.

you didnt THINK it, you READ it, just like the rest of us did!!

he's a liar!!

he 'may' not be involved directly in this scam, but that doesnt change the fact that he lies & lies & lies, and even goes back and changes shit he lied about to appear more honest or less dishonest.

DO NOT TRUST!!!

and especially do not trust the 'lets open a security firm' bullshit, that is misdirection aka smoke & mirrors!!

LIARS will ALWAYS go above & beyond what is required to 'prove' their honesty!

DO NOT TRUST!!

now the only way to recover these btc is to contact the miners seller and ask him to refund to u guys and any other who got cheated

I don't think that is going to happen, but i'm sure you should be able to get direct contact details of the perpetrators.
remember, UK courts have a victim damages scheme... and as long as we keep on top of this, one may be able to make sure the court enforces a payback order, whether in BTC or in fiat - it could be a groundbreaking evolution for BTC but lets just get these scammers caught firstly.
