The world of investing has long been accused of being a male-dominated “old-boys club”. Women in this environment frequently complain that they are frozen out, treated badly or have to work harder than men to make good.

So you would have thought that the 21st century’s developing fetch scene might have leveled the playing field between the sexes. However, evidence suggests the rush to online finance platforms and investments has done nothing to boost equality.

Instead, the digitally driven world of artificial intelligence, Bitcoin and blockchain is as sexually unbalanced as the banking, property and commodity markets industries that preceded it. Tech industries are inherently male-dominated for reasons that include boys being introduced to gadgets at a younger age, leading to just 16% of computer science undergraduates being female.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies first became popular in the geekiest parts of the tech and finance industries, both male-dominated. The early word was spread mainly on Reedit and forums for discussing video games.

In my personal opinion ithe male domination is not only in the Crypto world, but historically it is so in all directions of our life and business. It does not depend on wheather it is Bitcoin's World or Dollar's. But nowadays there is such a tendency it’s not a nuisance for women who have a strong desire to earn and be engaged in the BTC and other crypto world. And there are lots of women who are just holders, traders or really successful leaders in this direction. I do not see any infringements or restrictions for women here.

Girls are in Cryptocurrency like the ones in this group GirlsGoneBTC and most of them are also earning BTC, probably earning more than what signature campaign participants from the services.

I wanna thank them publicly for driving people to cryptocurrency, i just can't do it on facebook.  so there you go, if you need more women in bitcoin, you need men who likes jacking infront of a camera.

Nowadays women have more opportunities to get into traditionally men-conquered industries. And number of women engaged in Bitcoin is continuously growing. Maybe there aren't any women among the top 10 richest people in crypto, but it's a matter of time.

I don't know why there is a need for a call about either more women and men because this area is open for everyone and no gender restriction
so meaning Women can enter and invest on their own discretion and risk .

we have no way of forcing anyone to like and come here because this is a place where we can understand and study on our own,for more than 10 years I
think this is enough for everyone to venture here ,Investing or giving service is whom they must be.

How many of your friends or family that is now inside crypto?

Mine?i think 1 cousin,2 girlfriend and my wife,so at least 4 of my personal connected people are inside.

If there's a statistics that really says that bitcoin and cryptocurrency are more prominent to male than female. There's really not much importance to focus on this part. We should also not conclude that cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin is in favor of the males since there's no single information regarding this is listed on the whitepaper of Bitcoin, and it will solely depend on the choice of a person whether to use Bitcoin or not. It is just that, males are more active in the community but it doesn't mean that females aren't using it. I have female friends who use Bitcoin in transactions. They also manage huge cryptocurrency communities.

Bitcoin never limits a person's gender. both men and women can enter the world of cryptocurrency. Even a children can learn and join the bitcoin and cryptocurrency community. Everyone is free to enter the world of cryptocurrency. it's just that, more men are attracted to this latest technology than women. If a lot of women aren't interested in the bitcoin world, that's fine.

thats not a proper way to treat women . that only shows that thier husbands are lazy or dont love them . a loving husband or a good example of husband can willing to decide to work hard for thier wives and family and wives usually left out on the house to do chores and look for kids but this dont mean they are restricted to go outside and have fun

i agree on the last part, men are exposed early to techy stuffs than women that will mostly play non techy stuffs such as barbie dolls and make up but that was before but now that gadgets are now cheaper , we can now see little kids play with mobile phones  .

well, the issue here is adoption; i.e., not used as an instrument of investment.

Once BTC are used as electronic cash as originally envisioned by Satoshi more than a decade ago: bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

BTC will be held and used equally by women and men.

There are a lot of businesswoman and entrepreneurs make an investment with the bitcoin well mostly because of the news and known investor is a man this could possibly the reason why OP saying that mostly the bitcoin is for men(right now) but there are a lot of women are trying to invest too, in investment, there is no gender restriction if you want to make investment go, no one stops you.
Also, I think why most of the investor talks about men because they are more risk-taker than the woman.

Bitcoin needs more women is a wrong statement if you permit me to say that, bitcoin did not depend on women, so why using such statements? What bitcoin needs are people, it can be men or women, irrespective of the gender.
Same thoughts here. I'm not against that statement or anything but I think bitcoin is never a gender-issue. It's open for everyone and can be used by anyone regardless of their gender. Crypto, blockchain, technology-inclined stuff; it's indeed a guy-dominated society but women can also be part of it. After all, it depends on a person's choice which career path he/she wants to take.

And also, it's not that clear to me why you stated "bitcoin needs more women". Would there be any difference on how it works or something? Like increase in the price or fast adaptation? If you have an explanation for that, then it might change my mind. But as I've said, bitcoin is not a gender-issue. It doesn't removes women in the equation 'cause it's for all who wants to be part of it.

It does sounds to sexist if we talk about gender about this one, I feel like there's no need to discuss with regards to gender in dealing with cryptocurrencies, so what if one's investor is a man or a woman? that would not change anything. I know there have been this privilege in men but come on it's 2020, broad thinking and understanding is a must Roll Eyes We don't even know if Satoshi is a man or a woman  Huh anyone?
Yes, it was sexism if the gender equality is brought up but Bitcoin technology never been hook to men or women. It's the people who make the Bitcoin worthy now because Satoshi did made it to prove that no single entity could control the entire money system. Men and women have different goals and path of what they like regardless to any technology we use same also in different kinds of work.

I am confused by the title of this topic, because Bitcoin is never a gender issue. Because everyone be free to buy Bitcoin,
in my opinion Bitcoin requires more large companies to investment, usually large companies if they investment will buy
Bitcoin in large quantities. Then it will make Bitcoin even higher in price, and if many companies buy Bitcoin it will increase
the trust of many people in Bitcoin too. So the conclusion is that Bitcoin does not need more women, but more large companies is
needed, in order to accelerate the mass adoption process.

Could you change the title to
Women needs more bitcoin Grin

I regularly saw the number of women and men on stocks or financial management discussions is balance.
But it didn’t happened in bitcoin discussion because as most of you said, bitcoin is more advance and techie for women.

Bitcoin and crypto can be mined with computers, you do know that computer is almost men’s stuff.
Also you need to have high end GPU’s to mine it. GPU is related to gamers, and gamers related to boys/mens.

There’s a few number of women in blockchain or crypto space, but you will find some inspirational and influential women here:

And this is for fintech (blockchain included) women:

Generally whether 21st century or in the past, financial matters money issues have been on the take of men. In the bible, men were wealthier than women and I think that is even the genesis of it all. God gave women the role of giving birth and going through hard time to nurse the pregnancy and men will cultivate and labour the ground to get food with hard times . This is just the patrilineal thing and with this, you also have the financial record as men being the richest.

Although things are changing with women emancipation and feminist agenda getting women involved in public sphere but we still see it is a male dominated nature from inception.

Why the heck does things even need to be "sexually balanced"? Sectors like technology has always been male dominant whereas healthcare and education has mostly been female dominant. Is there anything wrong about it? No. Let people work on their interests regardless of gender dominance.

Some people are really fan on making issues even on the slightest one including gender on particular industries. It is really needed for Bitcoin to have more women?

I heavily agree on what you had said that there are industry which are heavily dominated by a certain gender which it isn't something unusual and people do get used to it.

Why would really mind that much if here on crypto world does have less women than men? It doesn't really limit or restrict out  yet everyone can engage with it.
The difference here is that men are more risk takers than women this is why we do saw that men are dominant on this market but there
are still few women though.

You would really be expecting this common thing. Why? because male are adventurous and we know that Bitcoin is somewhat that techy that not all women cant really hook up on whats its all about.

This isn't solely talking about Bitcoin but in all sorts of things where male do still remain dominant. We aren't that underestimating that capability but male are just too highly reactive and do tend to
engage on things directly once it do poke out their interest.

Bitcoin doesn't need more women nor men because no gender is the limit on the ones that will engage or make use of it.Its free for everyone.

I do not understand why gender means something here. Yes, women are less active with cryptocurrencies. They do not want to take risks as they have a bunch of housework. Besides, many women might not understand all these technical moments of BTC.

statement is wrong many women around me hold bitcoin and bitcoin need more holders in all profession not just a matter of gender ,70% of women tend to be closed in all things including business so it cannot be concluded that there are more men than women using bitcoin

I agree to your statement, Doell. You all cannot say that in crypto world that there are only men who are using bitcoin and/or altcoins. Being here in forum, we are all anonymous in such a way that we are using usernames. What if we are dominated by women here? Anyway, bitcoin needs a lot of people, lets not use genders here.

I am asking myself the following:

what will change if there are many women buying bitcoin?

Bitcoin should not be involved with politics and gender equality. bitcoin is an investment or currency and should be used by any person who is interested in using it, if the person is gay, white, black, woman, lesbian it doesn't matter
