Mostly there are just single pumps in alts while btc is on the rise, and the rest actually declines due to the fact that people take their assets over into btc - when btc has a steady range for a few days or more, altcoin market starts to be more volatile and active again due to the fact that people will return to their former altcoin assets. Thats the simple version - so if you are looking to invest long term (speaking of years) some altcoins surely make sense, but if youre looking to profit in the short run, either stay in btc or switch to alts while btc is declining.
I choose bitcoin ,it seems as though I understand it .is it not too hard for me to understand the forums and so on.bitcoin is very comfortable whenever you talk to explain the forums you understand and of course first is bitcoin in the whole world .about the altcoins .I do not know much and I have a hard time to understand and understanding everything ,every forums it does not know my knowledge about altcoins .I'm not comfortable with altcoins .its really hard for me to discuss altcoins or thread...
Bitcoin is safer and more profitable than the most altcoins because the price of bitcoin is not so volatile than before so it is easy for the price of bitcoin to maintain its current price and do not go down so hard and it is also profitable because just after a few months you can earn up to 50% by just holding it and waiting for the price to go up.
With Bitcoin, you can be sure, that you will make profits. But it will be small profits. (low risk, low profits)
With altcoins you can't be sure about anything. You will either lose -90% or make 400%. (high risk, high profits)

Probably Bitcoin is a safer option because it is the first cypto currency and widely used now. Altcoins are something that you won't know what is going to happen tomorrow.
But do you really see the present challenges easing out. I personally think the challenges with blockchain will just continue to mount and theres going to be a whole lot of frustrations
I think most of the altcoins need more gestation time before they can start producing. They need to produce more tangible results and then they'll gain some traction. I'm just speaking of them as a whole and not as one particular coin or token.
But then...waiting for gestation time could become an inaction that would make you lose the first spots!!!

Is this true? I'm also relatively new to this but there are some great altcoins out there which have huge potential. Surely investing small amounts of fiat those which would give you a lot in that coin is low risk and could turn out to be hugely profitable (like Bitcoin is) in the long run...
Bitoin is expensive now and with its flaws, there's a risk your investment in it will go less far and Bitcoin could flop.

I would say that word safe isn't something you could tie to cryptocurrencies. Investing in Bitcoin or altcoins takes certain risk that you can't avoid. I would say that Bitcoin is better for long term investing or using as a payment method for some expences and altcoins are for short term trading and fast profit. But since the altcoin market is very diverse you have to know it very well to avoid picking the wrong coins.

because Ethereum price is very stable.
Moreover, It provides a smart contract which is widely used by ICO.
and also Ethereum cover the lack of bitcoin, ie :

Maybe for some people who like to take risks I think Altcoin can be used as an alternative, for those who want to take a big advantage then altcoin is a good choice. but if wrong in choosing then altcoin can bring you loss and destruction. choose according to the conditions and do not forget you must have a strong belief in choosing a coin you want invested.
actually it's depends on how you want to take risk , i consider bitcoin are the most promising one especially for your long term investment. where altcoin could be a disaster when you want to invest on them for the long term you need a creful research about altcoin investment , so i would say that altcoin are for short term and bitcoin for long term , both has similar risk , unless if you look at a new altcoin then it has higher risk and not safe at all.

Bitcoin is more profitable than altcoin, but sometimes altcoin become more profitable. Usually people get a lot of profit because they buy coin in ICO. But after that nobody know what will happen next.
I think bitcoin is more profitable and safer because you can create types of coins while bitcoin is the only one and people just know about bitcoin not many people know about others coin so I think bitcoin is the best

Is it still safe, wise and as profitable as before to start a fresh bitcoin investment?
I'm thinking that investing in a number of the other several altcoins might be much better

Alt coins is much more easy to earn than bitcoin but you can not assure that it will last long. bitcoin can be a long term investment because lots of investors are into bitcoin and it is more safer than other coins and it is more stable in terms of value.
It's riskier to invest on Alt coins, usually they are just created for an "instant profit" airdrop that leads to pump and dump. Bitcoins are safer for me, no argument for that, basing from size of the community that supports it and the reputation that built over the years, but if you really want to invest in alt coins make sure that they have the names and not just "so-good-to-be-true" kind of coin features.
If you are keeping up with all the new stuff that happens all the time in the cryptocurrencies world you would notice that any altcoin that derives from bitcoin itself such as BCH or BCG are potential threats to bitcoin's value and fan base . For 2 simple reasons , these coins have better features such as faster and cheaper transactions , and are supported by a list of highly active and successful entrepreneurs . And just through surfing this forum , you'll notice how much people get hyped about such news , yet it doesn't last ! And soon after bitcoin gets up on it's feet again and goes all the way up once more proving that he is much loved and trusted by it's owners , developers and especially miners ! , a lot much trusted and believed in than to have backs turned to him .
