I will choose bitcoin because of its value as of now. It gives better future to everyone.On the other hand, Ethereum's value is too different to bitcoin's value but we don't have to be bothered by it because everything here needs a long process of time to achieved its goals. Bitcoin can't be question base on it's growth and for you that has a plan of holding up for 5 years or more than that. You had the best two choices of coins, bitcoin for the same time frame of holding and Ethereum too. But if you want to have the best gains of your life then get attached all of your investment with bitcoin. Since ethereum and other alt coins are also depending to bitcoin market.

Indeed cryptocurrency is very trending these days because the more the value of bitcoin increases, the more people knows about it. About Ethereum, it's value is not that high compared to bitcoin but i'm pretty sure that ethereum needs a long process in order to meet the value we are all expecting. My opinion trade only bitcoin because ethereum have trouble with transcations and others media problems like spam about "Vitalik death")
The transactions trouble Ethereum is experiencing is not going to be stable, It has to do with an issue on their blockchain or so. I think, Soon it will be resolved and will be working fine once again. And moreover, if i remember well, I think bitcoin experience the same problem some time ago when it was also growing. So, just know that anything is bound to happen with technology.About the rumors concerning 'Vitalik death', this is a just a false speculation. There is no official news nor headlines that carried this news.
So, I think its better for the OP to invest in both coin, because just like Bitcoin, Ethereum is a coin that has a promising future. Most people even predict that in years to come, it will be more valuable than Bitcoin.

In 5 years Ethereum will rise significantly, but that cannot be compared with Bitcoin. Ethereum will still be the second one best cryptocurrency after Bitcoin. With all the potential, more companies will make use of it's possibilities. The issues we now have, will be solved by then. So Ethereum is a good investment and will make good returns in the future.

It's very hard to predict ethereum price for 5 years. I think ethereum will have more practical implementation but it still be number 2. I think the ethereum for the next 5 years will probably see a good "price", as it will be more and more fans of ethereum itself.
Since past few days, the market price of ETH is rising very much significantly. In fact, it is far better than most of the coins which are there in the crypto world. Inspire of all these things, you cannot rely on ETH for quite a long period of time. It is highly volatile in nature and the market price can actually fall down anytime. This is not the accurate question. We don't have to chose between bitcoin and ethereum only. There are many of others available in the market. Future of ethereum is very good if you mean 5 year long time.
Ethereum is a good option, too, to invest in. I think in five years time, it will continue to grow, and its' price will continue to pump. It will be a good long term investment, so why not take a go, and start investing.
