I have been witnessing this from the past 4 years, the value of bitcoin starts falling between Christmas and new year because most of the mid-level user cash out during this period for holiday vacations. I think this trend has already started this year as well as this year is not an exception.

I think it only dumps hard right after a huge price bubble which has happed a couple of times just before Christmas. This year we did not see a price bubble so don’t expect a big price drop.
I wouldn't be so confident about it though even if the market seems too unstable there's still could a chance that a huge price drop would happen in the future. Although this is December and it is expected already that most people will be cashing out just to buy some present for the upcoming holiday season.

I know about bitcoin since 3 years. And I have been continuously seeing that during Christmas [25 December] Crypto Markets dump hardly.

In 2011, 2013, and 2016, the market was bullish during Christmas week. In 2012 and 2015, the market was sideways. I don't agree with the conclusion that the crypto markets always dump at this time.

Whenever people start seeing patterns like this, the patterns fail. That's no surprise given the lack of historical data and unpredictability of markets.

So what do you think about this Christmas and BTC price movements? Dump is coming to near? Or we can a different scenario in this Xmas?

This is a congestion zone in a ranging market so my hopes aren't high for huge fireworks (in either direction) this week. My overall bias is still leaning bullish. Targets in the $8K-$9K area seem possible in the next couple weeks.
well there is a myth that bitcooin price go down on christmas day because of people selling some of bitcoin that they hold for a year for buying stuff as part of the celebration day and some holiday expenses too , that is pretty makes sense right?

jus imagine everybody around the world doing this at the same time at the same day!

yes of course the more selling order coming but and buyers have anticipated this selling waves on the christmas day.
can not really blame anybody for this myth, that is too makes sense.
and that is happened temporarily by the way. there is no need to worry about.

The dump in price of the bitcoin market don't always happen every Christmas and with the upcoming bitcoin halving some infrequently dump and surge in price is expected due to people spending their bitcoin on some gifts while the real dump will happen after Christmas and early next year.

The dump usually happens in January when the tax is due. 2019 was a mixed year, but still we managed to do a +200% after all. So some taxes will have to be paid in January, I just hope that the hype and media for the bitcoin halving will cover all the sell pressure.

I have seen last year's christmas dump at $4k. The bitcoin's price as of today is stableat $7k and doesn't have any movement whether it will really dump. But I do think these coming days will still be $7k. Nothing special movements as of now. Though everyone is really expecting to pump this season instead of what is happening right now.

I'd agree bitcoin doesn't do so well in autumn

How about the 2013 and 2017 bubbles?! Those were very bullish autumn months.

These generalizations never work out. The only way to say "BTC is always bearish during x and y months" is to omit the contradictory data. Smiley

hmm it was caused by halving 1 year before. so, in my opinion, it has no effect on this Christmas. but it's quite unique when 2 days ago before Christmas the price increased to 6700, which I thought when Christmas happened it would be a sell off due many people need money to buy gifts.

There is no significant movement so far, so it's okay, as long as BTC will not anymore drop below $7K,  I will be okay for this year because we just started at $3K+, so this is a progress that is happening now.

and not to forget all time high of 2019 i.e. 11500$. Bitcoin perform very good this year, as we can see from its price chart. Its going again to $7k, lets see whether it go down to $6k or jump up to $10k. This year there is slight moment in bitcoin price on Christmas this year but nothing  much of significance happens.

Christmas always make and give bad reputation with bitcoin become lower price, last three time before and after Christmas day bitcoin always have lower price, two weeks usually after Christmas moment bitcoin can back with higher price because many people cash out their bitcoin to gift Xmas for their friend, hope next Christmas day giving Xmas only using bitcoin and not have to withdraw bitcoin become cash money first.

Not all people in the world celebrate Christmas, there are around 2 billion Christians, but many are merely declared as such, and do not hold too much to religion. However, those who have BTC and who need the money will sell some BTC at this time, at least I think and do just that. But this is not a reason that can affect the price too much unless someone really sells a large amount of BTC to buy something pretty expensive.

To give an example that this theory is not completely correct, we have this small pump which lasted for a very short time, but it's obviously another bull trap, or maybe a little Santa Claus gift Wink

It is not only Christmas but the "holiday season" in USA, in some other nations as well but in USA there is Halloween and on top of that there is thanksgiving and then Christmas afterwards (and some celebrate new years too) so it is a costly season that makes investors give up on their investments to sell and use that money to celebrate the holiday season better.

I am not from USA but we have new years here as well (just like all around the world) and I am a person who spends it at home not spending too much money, so all in all I am not the reason for bitcoin price to fall but there must have been a lot of people who sold during these times. The best times for bitcoin to go up seems to be around spring because both people haven't spent their new money yet on summer vacations just yet and they are not worrying about holiday season neither.

I'd agree bitcoin doesn't do so well in autumn but I think its more due to people trying to cash out to buy presents and other stuff for Christmas rather than anything else (those who store large amounts in crypto).

I don't think bitcoin will see much of a fall due to Christmas, there may be little trading from the west but the east will still probably keep trading and keep the price on the current trajectory. I think it'll take a while for us to see the markets do a substantial move (a few months probably).

You can honestly think billions of sell volume is based on people cashing out to buy christmas presents as its highest factor.  This is silly, there have been years when bitcoin raised through the holidays, went sideways and some years it went down.  It is not attributed to people needing to buy presents...

I know that every Christmas Eve the price of bitcoin will go down because many sell bitcoin for Christmas needs maybe, and I hope it will go up again soon

I don't think a lot of people are selling their btc because they want to spend it for christmas needs. That is a no brainer anyone can always choose to pay in fiat currency. There is another reason why the people dont want to buy due to the situation in the market today.

its almost 25th now to some coutries and price is still sttable but it did already drop right after we touch the month of december  . i already forgot the price of btc last year but i still remember that btc on december 25 2017 were not going down but they are still continue to rise up   .  this is why i believe that there is no relation on the price to christmas day   . if this is your basis to sell or buy then better if you just dont use it anymore because its unpredictable . just buy and sell normally depending on what you think youl be better for you  .

It is surely different from previous years.

It is already December 25 by tomorrow but if we take a look into the chart it seems we are far away from suffering such an expecting event. The support might be strong and people are still holding their coins just to wait for the upcoming halving which influences a lot. I'm confident enough that we never have a huge drop( if it has) rather than to see scaling high until the end of this year.

I think there will be no movements around this holidays. Most probably the price will go in range of $7k-$7500 tops. Usually this time of the year, trading is kinda slow, maybe traders are just busy on this holidays and spend most of their time with their families.

So no break out run, trading sideways up until the beginning of 2020.

Yeah, I also been here since 2017, and who would forget the all time high that year, but followed by the bearish trend in 2018-2019. So it's really hard to say if the dump are over yet.

We just have to remain positive, a good $7500 at the end of the year is still good, as we are close to 90% year-to-year.
