I know about bitcoin since 3 years. And I have been continuously seeing that during Christmas [25 December] Crypto Markets dump hardly. So what do you think about this Christmas and BTC price movements? Dump is coming to near? Or we can a different scenario in this Xmas?
We can't say it will dump or pump, bitcoin has never follow just one trend all the time, that's why it's very unpredictable because it changes from time to time. Though there's an upcoming halving by next year, we can't even guarantee that a pump would happen, we are just hopeful but we can't assure good things will happen.

So this Christmas, I hope that BTC will not dump so we can continue to see a significant growth in the remaining days of the year.

I don't think the prices would go the same every Christmas. There have been different scenario and it's really hard to determine the exact movement of the market. It's just an advantage that the market situation got a little better this time. Let's just hope for the best in the coming days.

Bitcoin price markets are unpredicted, and you cannot say that every year, bitcoin will face another dump, although we have that possibility. If you check 2017, at Christmas, the price is not dumped, but it gets pump higher although, before Christmas, the price was getting dump so hard the price still trying to increase. So based on that, we still hard to predicted what will happen at Christmas, and if the price is a dump, then so be it. That will a good time to buy another low price of bitcoin.

This is my third Christmas with bitcoin. 2017 christmas was when BTC saw its ATH, 2018 Christmas was dry and this Christmas we saw some variation in price. Overall we cant say there is one to one relation bw BTC price n Christmas. BTC has it's own dates of Christmas celebrations.

Bitcoin price is unpredictable but charts at the end of the year is generally more interesting to follow especially with ATH in 2017.
I am a little bit disappointed this year.. The price stuck at $7k while I was hoping to see something close to 5 digits...

We might not see another 5 digit Bitcoin price nor more than $10,000 until the halving is done. Base on what have happened from the last 2 Bitcoin halving, it seems that the price tends to have a rally and make another ATH a year after the halving.
Another guess is, if Bitcoin breaks the $10,000 resistance level beginning of January, huge possibility that It will gradually increase for the whole year of 2020.

Buying pressure decreases. We see more dumps in the market, and yes Christmas season is here and it may be one of the major reason why price movement goes somehow down. You know season of giving gifts, get away trips and a lot of discount sales in mall, and probably those who dumps a lot are totally making their fortune just only in crypto currency. And who would've resist such sale, right?

I see this period as a longer week-end. Speculation on the price can happen, but I think that their effect will become close to zero as soon as normal banking/working days start again.

There isn't really any generalized answer for the BTC market every Christmas. Just like what the first comment said, BTC experienced various movements from each Christmas, which doesn't really follow a pattern whatsoever. Saying a dump may happen, well yes, it could be possible, but no clue as to whether it would happen or not. In the end, the market is still the market and would still move as it pleases. Though imho, I doubt it would actually dump suddenly after all the sideways movement we've experienced the weeks prior to Christmas. Could be a sudden dump, but the market would probably enforce a correction there and move up again after a few hours or so.

First its hard to know if the price of bitcoin will be pump or dump but its better to make a big dump why? Because we can have an opportunity to buy more before the 2020halving. If you can see the chart of bitcoin its already make a pump and now I'm seeing a dump again.

I think that ahead of Christmas many people are selling their assets to prepare for tonight and it needs money to prepare for it. It could all be a dump now because there are many needs on Christmas.
So I don't think this is a problem because it's a bit of a dump and after that the pump will start again, and this is indeed an opportunity to buy and hold a few months before halving occurs.

I think not every Christmas bitcoin are dumping we can be positive that bitcoin can goes up too. So we need to be wise once bitcoin this Christmas are going to dump if we have money buy some and keep the bitcoin. But if you have bitcoin then the price goes up you can sell them and  buy again once bitcoin gonna down.

Its too late for a big pump this holidays because in 17hrs we are going to celebrate the Christmas and the price is still down. Yes, over my years of working here I saw already this kind of trend and I do believe that next year will be another great year for us, it may now come this last week of 2019 but let’s move on and look forward for everything that bitcoin can offer to us.

Yeah, they are right. Christmas has nothing to do with the bitcoin price. Others think that the price is dumping for the reason of selling off their BTC to fiat money for the preparation of holidays like buying gits and having foods to eat on Christmas eve. If you see a fall in Bitcoin during the Christmas holiday in the passing year, it doesn't mean that the same scenario will happen in this current year.

I'd agree bitcoin doesn't do so well in autumn

How about the 2013 and 2017 bubbles?! Those were very bullish autumn months.

These generalizations never work out. The only way to say "BTC is always bearish during x and y months" is to omit the contradictory data. Smiley

In 2011, 2013, and 2016, the market was bullish during Christmas week. In 2012 and 2015, the market was sideways. I don't agree with the conclusion that the crypto markets always dump at this time.
I'll take your word that what you say is correct, since I haven't checked the charts before posting this.  I don't remember how the last few years went for bitcoin around Christmas, but I don't ever remember the price being predictable at any point during the year, not even toward the end.

I agree that people tend to see patterns where they don't necessarily exist--that's part of human nature, and it's that Dunning-Krueger effect or whatever it's called that describes the phenomenon.  I try not to succumb to that when dealing with markets, which is why I'm not a TA chart-watcher.

And right now bitcoin is as sideways as ever.  There hasn't been a huge price drop, not even that one we just saw.  That had happened in November as well if I recall correctly.

As much as possible do not connect holidays, seasons, and also historical price movements on your analysis for the current price movement of Bitcoin will be. Basically what you are doing is just as good as guessing what the price of Bitcoin will be without actually doing any kind of analysis. I think extasie has proven that what you have seen in the last three years is wrong and Christmas has nothing to do with Bitcoin's dumping. Yeah we ended it bad during December 2017 but it does not mean that this will be a routine cycle for Bitcoin every December. You must also consider other factors such as volume, moving averages, and actual demand before you can even say that Christmas has something to do with it.

Every Xmas doesnt signify on having similar events when it comes to bitcoins price. We have seen all through the years on how it do behave when we do already heading up to this season.

By looks on the current price yet we do already have 2 days left for the said holiday. The price had rose to 7500+ and do tank into these levels. We cant be sure that it would surge nor dump
on next days to come.So the answer of this question is "no one really knows".

Despite some different opinions I don't think there is connection between Christmas and Bitcoin price. Some think that price is falling because users are cashing out their coins but I don't think that happens in such extent that would influence the price significantly.
Also, I don't think that Bitcoin behaves according to some predictable pattern that would allow us to make some solid conclusions.

I'd agree bitcoin doesn't do so well in autumn but I think its more due to people trying to cash out to buy presents and other stuff for Christmas rather than anything else (those who store large amounts in crypto).

I don't think bitcoin will see much of a fall due to Christmas, there may be little trading from the west but the east will still probably keep trading and keep the price on the current trajectory. I think it'll take a while for us to see the markets do a substantial move (a few months probably).
