Bitcoin in Bangladesh is yet a technology/industry where people think it's a dark side of internet. In general they think it's an illegal payment method (legal is paypal and others LOL). The media presents it in such a way that the viewers are bound to be scared. Bitcoin users do not feel safe because they know the local authority will give them hard time, they may even end up to the jail. People who are seating in the higher position in the administration they also have misconception about bitcoin so blaming them to make it illegal will be to much.

Bottom line : Bitcoin is scary in Bangladesh. If you talk about bitcoin then you are talking about an illegal object or whatever name you give it.

BitcoinBangladesh.org forum is created to spread the true knowledge about bitcoin, build a nurse a community who speaks Bangla and share their knowledge to remove the negativity the misconceptions about bitcoin in the Bangla speaking community.

Not many Bangali users are in here and the only reason is that they do not have good English writing/reading and understanding skills. I hope BitcoinBangladesh.org will fill the gap and will serve the local bitcoin community. This forum will also help people around every corner in Bangladesh to adopt with Bitcoin and it's technology.

We are open for any suggestion and support to make the community a successful and stronger.

If you are a Bangla speaker then please visit us, join us and help us to grow with your condition-less contribution. If you are not a Bangla speaker- do not worry, we have international section and I hope you will help us with your knowledge too. We have plans to hire some good Bangla article writers to translate some of the good informative topics from here and from our international section that will be posted by international users.

Thank you everyone for reading this announcement. Let's make everyone a Bitcoiner.

Regards,
https://bitcoinbangladesh.org

I am really surprised when I read this post because maximum bangladeshi  people still not understand about bitcoin. Some people’s know about bitcoin but they all thought about btc negative side. Last year Bangladesh Government announced how to use blockchain technology and they also budget huge amount for learning blockchain technology. And now I thanks to bitcoinbangladesh forum for helping new people’s for gathering knowledge   about bitcoin and others crypto-currency

If you create a separate forum for a very niche country where crypto is illegal and where majority posters would post in Bangla font, the experienced non bengali people would never bother going into that forum to see what's going on.
Not sure about that. I do agree that catering to a specific niche(Bangla people in this case) is a bad idea, but many of them will probably visit the forum to desperately earn some satoshis thanks to the pay per post model.

Problem here is that most of them will probably spam like crazy to earn some satoshis which is why this will probably become Cryptotalk 2.0.

I am curious about the response of crypto players in your country, are they compact in support of (bitcoinbangladesh.org)

The forum is a good starting point for those Crypto players in Bangladesh, the number of people in this forum is very small I think they should bond together to great a group chat for continuous support, the support is a good place to voice out any concern from Crypto players in your country, you should have a gathering.

There are bad ideas. And then there are very bad ideas. But this, this is the worst idea.

In some points, i am agree with your opinion.  As there is a law to punish anyone for using crypto-currency and there is no positive vibes in Bangladesh's economy about crypto-currencies. So this site might be a problem for every users who are going to use because if government trace the adminstrator or caught those people who are maintaining the website . Then, it will be easy for government to find out the users location using the ip data of the website. After all , everyone might be in great danger for this situation. But it won't be a problem if the adminstrator are living outside of the country.

You know, why I said that? Let me create an analogy.

When you are in your kitchen, you keep trying to clean the surfaces you see clearly in the open. You often do not clean under the stove, or under the basin, parts where the light does not reach.

As a result, all the dirt accumulates in there, the cockroaches fester and they spread disease and ruin your food and your health.

Similarly,

If you create a separate forum for a very niche country where crypto is illegal and where majority posters would post in Bangla font, the experienced non bengali people would never bother going into that forum to see what's going on. As a result, it would fester all kinds of illegal and criminal activities that would give crypto the bad name in your country as well as become very unhealthy for the economic health of your country. You might even find yourself at the crosshairs of the authorities then.

I like the impression of creating a forum which i believe will showcase cryptocurrency to the world but i will be happy if the OP and the forum moderator would do the right possibility to make sure no activities was done by their forum users in manipulating or abusing the merit system of this forum.
In the meantime, dont use think making the forum available to Bangladesh only could give the forum limitations?

Good luck on your project.

That's one of the risk if the government is not yet fully open to Cryptocurency they can easily track people because they have control on service providers and this is going to be risky, unless you recommend them to use VPN or better include other country to participate in the paid to post forum.

I just visited your website and after around 2.5 weeks since you posted this thread I don't see any activity at all, this might be because you have just limited your market to the Bangladeshi people which you have admitted that Bitcoin isn't really popular in your country. Aside from that most topics are left without any content and there is really no conversation happening. With the use of translate to English function in Chrome you will see that instead of members talking to each other they are just posting what they want about the topic without anyone replying to what they have said. It might be the lack of activity or people are just new with the concept of a forum so maybe the mods in your forum should be the ones engaging in a conversation and should be active since the site looks pretty dead to me.

Hey OP! Reminds me a bit about the state of bitcoin in my home state (which is, in an everlasting microcosm of its own that insists on being different from the country it belongs to). The local language is not widely spoken online, resources for crypto and Bitcoin are few and old, essentially, people from my country educated enough to know about tech speak English, so those who only speak the local language are left behind and fall prey to the scams associated (mistakenly) with Bitcoin.

It's a tough call, but you might want to look for existing Bangla forums already and then insert Bitcoin into that. Then you tap into an existing community. Just my thought. This one, striking out on your own, it's unsustainable. Can't pay people like this, you'll get fleeced.

I was about to sign up after reading that you are paying 1000 sats per post but had to back off because you are only paying Bangladesh board I must be honest my time is very precious you should allocate funds for English board so it can move on and attract members from many nations.

Dude, his whole point is the Bangla-speaking community, not the English guys;) Your time is precious, sure, it's all precious to all of us, so maybe get his point first before asking;) Plenty of other opportunities =)

I quickly check your website, I know it is local to Bangladesh folks, so how can you attract people here who don't speak your native language?

Goodluck to your forum and to your dedication to bring Bangladesh to Bitcoin though. Your government seems to lack the understanding towards crypto but maybe you can tip the tide in your favor in the next coming years and change how they look at Bitcoin. Best of luck.

Thanks for your good words Kemarit.
Bitcoin is very much an unrecognized and misunderstood technology/concept in Bangladesh. Very few people have some idea about the concept but majority who heard about bitcoin has very negative thinking about it. Surprisingly, these known people about bitcoin are not even a tiny fraction of the population of the country. If you ask 10 people I am pretty sure you will find that none even hard about it. I am talking from my own experience. May be you will find 1 or 2 from 100 people but those are the one who only heard about the term "bitcoin" with some negative feed. The reaction is like this : "Oh! Yes!! Bitcoin!!! The _______ use it?" (in the blank put something negative like: drug dealer, black market, arm business etc)

It gives me pain, it makes me hopeless when I see the nation is falling behind just because of the lack of true knowledge. The forum is just a little initiative to help Bangla speakers to understand the true benefit of Bitcoin. It is a big job to take on only in few of our's shoulder but I hope there will be some other bitcoin lovers also who will work with us too.

Thank you.

I have a feeling that's the case in general [lack of Bengali users] since your government [or banks] consider it to be "illegal [unfortunately]". How are you planning to drive traffic towards your forum?

I think that you need to be courageous to work out things about BTC and be very frank when you talk about it. Even in India (still having a lot of lack of Indians to follow up with the correct definition of this technology and its proper use), we had a case ongoing between RBI and IAMAI and the result has been pending since 2 years and I guess more to go, but still we have got a community here that discusses a lot about BTC - everything highly knowledgeable as well as on-topic and we are even trying to gather more and more users in that section and are successful to some extent. There's nothing impossible to achieve, all we need is the will to start.

We are open for any suggestion and support to make the community a successful and stronger.

If you are not a Bangla speaker- do not worry, we have international section and I hope you will help us with your knowledge too.
You might want to consider changing the purpose of that section into something that can help attract traffic [e.g. Other tech stuff so you can promote it in multiple places]...

I think that some speculation games that we have on Indian board and more competitions where some rewards are given to the community for their contributions (even honor is enough for the brave) are good ideas to bring more Bengali members to their community and participate in the giveaways and/or discussions.

May I ask where did you tried to post your proposal? and who's moderator that answer to you? Have you tried posting on the meta section? there's a lot of higher ranked members or moderators are in there and might notice your proposal.
Not sure which account belongs to him/her but I found the following proposals:

- Urgently need a sub-forum for Bangladesh. 200+ pages since 2014.
- need a bangla board in local section
- A separate board for Bengali language?

It has been asked here many times but since the community is not much bigger (from the regular view), I think this is not something they have in their list.

I was with this forum from long time and I have had this request several times but never heard a positive response so I was working on setting up a team for me to have our own community in our language (Bangla) to help and grow a community to bring positive impression for Bitcoin in Bangladesh. Bangali people really are in darkness about the entire Bitcoin and Blockchain technology.

The idea of this project was created one and half year ago and I was able to register a domain and start putting things together only few weeks ago.

Thanks for your input brother.
