some sort of web easter egg when bitcoin hits preordained highs?

Yes.  I've seen several, but never seen the same one twice.

I found a bug I think.  I was wondering 'how many coins to $100' so zoomed the depth chart out.  It got narrower, but the Y axis didn't adjust, and so I didn't get an answer to my question:

I just saw what looked like an ad with a short video of a baby on your website.  Right around when bitcoin was
hitting $95.00

!?!?!?

My compliments for a very nice web site. Don't know if it has already been suggested, but how about a thin vertical line through the highest exchange rate ever ?

Love this, it's the most reliable BTC price chart I've found.   Smiley

Wouldn't mind having time zone selection though.

When viewing "EUR" for mtgox, and zooming out the lower chart to get a broader picture
of the bids and asks, then starting at some out-zoom-level, the y-axis scaling becomes
inappropriate.

e.g. at the moment, the rate is about 60€==1BTC,  and at a zoom-level that shows
values from 58.5 to 61.5 and the y-axis on left side scales from 0 to about 1800.
So far, it's ok, but if I zoom out (again "-"), then the y-axis scale suddenly goes
from 0 to only 200, letting the red side appear like a simple vertical line.
(The actual scale-ranges will probably change with every new bid or ask, but
I hope the problem is still understandable and reproducible.)

I've seen this only on the EUR chart so far, and my guess is, that once the upper end
of asks slips into the range on x-axis, it gets something like an infinity value for the
graph-data at the right side of the chart, and thus falls back to the left-end value
for scaling.

Love the site - I'd like to donate free domain renewal at Namecheap for 2 years so this doesn't happen again.  PM me!

Take my example pic with the nice 70 price. The two green bars below my blue line say bids have been added (upper bar), asks have been removed (lower bar), but at what price? Somewhere around 70. It looks/feels somewhat unprecise and hurts a little.

Anyway, I am always glad bitcoinity is working, when mtgoxlive is broken 70% of the time.

Yes, that is odd.  There are somewhere between 4 and 5 bars per $2 division in your picture.  Seems kind of messy.

This is the only live ticker that reliably works for me.  clarkmoody hasn't loaded for me for weeks, btccharts doesn't seem to work at all any more, and mtgoxlive never really worked very well - not that I've tried so much since switching to bitcoinity.

agreed I love your site. The only thing I miss is that there isnt a way to combined the charts like http://btccharts.com/#m=mtgox-BTC-USD

Also I liked how if i hovered over a wall for example a wall at 65$ I could see all the order that make it up. for example:

64.9995 - 200btc
64.9999 - 34.5btc
65- 20.5btc
65.0001 - 10btc

I still don't get it. This WTF sentence seems wrong: "Bars on the left of the current price are bid offer changes, and on the right ask offer changes."

I think the sentence is correct.  What do you think is wrong with it?
Thank you, your explanation made things a little clearer. I was just having big trouble to fully wrap my head around the graph (see below).

Time from left to right?

I don't know what you're asking.  The upper chart has time as the X axis, and plots price against time.  The lower chart has price as the X axis, and plots market depth (as lines) and changes in market depth (as bars) against price.
OK no time axis for the bars.

Why did I not get it into my head? The red/green depth change bar x-positions look completely arbitrary. It looks like there is no connection to the price. How can I tell at what price / price range the change occurred?

Take my example pic with the nice 70 price. The two green bars below my blue line say bids have been added (upper bar), asks have been removed (lower bar), but at what price? Somewhere around 70. It looks/feels somewhat unprecise and hurts a little.

What about making the depth change bars symmetric to price ticks? It will not give more information but may let people understand better what the bars are all about.

Anyway, I am always glad bitcoinity is working, when mtgoxlive is broken 70% of the time.

... but what I came here for was to ask about this:

How can the last trade price not show up in the recent trade list?

This happens quite often for me.  Is it my bad connection?  Are you fetching the last price separately from the trade history?

I still don't get it. This WTF sentence seems wrong: "Bars on the left of the current price are bid offer changes, and on the right ask offer changes."

I think the sentence is correct.  What do you think is wrong with it?

Prices to the left of the current price are bids (people trying to buy bitcoin under the current price) and prices to the right are asks (poeple trying to sell bitcoin over the current price).

The statement is a little misleading, because if the current price used to be to the right of a bar but has now decreased so that it's to the left of the same bar, two bars will be overlaid on top of each other: one showing the decrease (to zero) of the bids at that price, and another showing the increase (from zero) of the asks at the same price.

Time from left to right?

I don't know what you're asking.  The upper chart has time as the X axis, and plots price against time.  The lower chart has price as the X axis, and plots market depth (as lines) and changes in market depth (as bars) against price.

I think your domain name expired...

Just got that news from reddit. I must admit, it feels pretty lame.

I just renewed it, I hope my request to renew succeeds before somebody's else registration Wink Thanks for info.

And while I'm typing, thanks for all feedback and donations (like seriously, really really thanks). I'll post some more detailed replies with probably some updates later (because stuff).
