Only 21 Hours left. We have over 90 submissions in this thread, while the Discord server has only 26 Submissions. I encourage everyone to upload their pizza on the Discord server's dedicated event channel #pizza-day-event-2023.

Discord Server Invitation Link: https://discord.gg/ahgHyku

I haven't seen a lot of entries on the discord server till now. They might have thought that the contest if forum based, whereas it is not. Voting will happen on discord and if any participant does not upload the picture on discord then their efforts would get wasted.

Is their any possibility to give them some more time and if possible quote those username who have not uploaded here on this thread.

I can't believe we're still discussing about what a pizza is because for you is acceptable to make a rice salad and call it a pizza. Please don't insult my intelligence, there is no need to "clearly define" a pizza for this type of contest, just google pizza and compare the images: do they look like rice salad? Do they look like unbaked stuff? Do they look like a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise thrown in a plate? If someone is writing on this forum it means he has internet access, they ask you to make a pizza then just google what a pizza is, that's it.

Yes... I can see that you know a lot.

Hi guys, this will be my entry for this contest, I am gonna post the images in chronological order.

this is my first time making a pizza and I am honestly proud of what I made despite burning the first pizza. for some reason I thought creating the pizza dough will be hard but it is surprisingly easy, what I found hard to do was spreading the dough to make a circle, you'll see in the photos below how well I spread the pizza into a circle hahaha. btw, the most time-consuming thing I did when making the pizza is carving those little pepperoni bitcoin logos.

the dough is made of flour, sugar, salt, water, and yeast. just a note that when activating the yeast you should use warm water. the fourth image is after I let it rise for at least 2 hours.

just carving my pepperoni bitcoin logos

here, I am putting the toppings on my pizza, regarding the pizza sauce, not sure if I should say "I made it" since I didn't make it from scratch but I don't have a ready-made pizza sauce so I used a tomato paste and added some water, grated garlic and ground pepper and simmered it for 5 minutes to at least bring out the flavor of the garlic and pepper. the green stuff is water spinach that was cooked in butter.

the first image was an epic fail, I completely forgot that I am cooking the pizza in high heat and ended up burning it, it still tasted good though(at least the parts that aren't burnt). on the second image I lowered the heat and monitored it just to make sure I don't fuck it up. don't mind the triagle-shaped pizza, I was trying the "steering wheel" technique I found on youtube, and as you can guess I fucked it up, the dough not being round probably contributed to the result

Lastly, HAPPY PIZZA DAY 2023

I'm trying my best to join this contest. I know I have no skills to make a Pizza, forgive me if it is not a great Pizza.

Don't worry about it, it's the effort that counts.
I don't know how it tasted, but the deal was to make a pizza and your product looks like a pizza. It cannot be mistaken for anything else meaning the goal was reached! Cool

This competition is really indeed a big fun to be because I have been seeing some egg spices, salad and some baking which I can not categorically call a Pizza 🍕. I know different regions can have there own kind of baking calling it a pizza which is fine. There are also different kind of pizza which was not defined in the beginning of this competition

No doubt that every one trying to make Pizza at own style. i saw some dishes which couldn't be calling Pizza but best thing is that it cooked in house and we can called it Pizza duplicate  Cheesy . some members waste so much time and make very delicious Pizza with top class decorations of BTC. I really appreciate icopress, fillippone  and some other members work as i not seen this kind of pizza decorations before this. They posted their entry at the end and now we have not so kuch time to copy idea from them. any way this whole contest bring lot of creativity and fund.

By the way when will voting be start ?
Pizza duplicate is what most of us are making which could be delicious also and it fun too. This is a great opportunity for many of us here to try our skill in making a pizza 🍕 even though we might have not tried it before. My first time making a pizza was as hell as fire because I was watching YouTube video on how to make a pizza and at the same time trying my luck.

My first baking of pizza was a delicious duplicate of pizza although the face was never looking like a real pizza and I was unable to get most of the necessary ingredients that was need to spice up the pizza. The challenge was hell because I couldn't even remember the last time I made use of an oven to bake.

I hereby congratulate everyone who had made an attempt to make a pizza especially with different ingredients even though the face was not so inviting like it ought to be.  fillippone won the last pizza 🍕 contest and I hope he win also this time. This year pizza contest would be competitive because I have been seeing some good looking pizza that would really worth the price.

I agree with you but the word "pizza" does not need to be defined as it does not need to be defined as "water" or "coca cola" we all know how these drinks are. If I order a pizza, the waiter must bring me a circular pasta cooked in the oven (preferably wood-fired) with a layer of tomato on the surface up to half a centimeter from the edge covered with mozzarella. This is the basis. Finally, you can season it with some ingredients such as ham, mushrooms, peppers, salami, artichokes, etc... but any type of strange dough cannot be defined as pizza. For the dough you need water, flour and yeast. It's that simple and I don't expect a regulation to define what a pizza is if the contest plans to cook one.

It seems like you did not like the mashed potato pizza. Nor the salad pizza. This is the reason you started creating drama  Roll Eyes
Kidding aside, you will see more submissions next year as long we feed them with merits. They are not here to win the contest. They know they won't get a vote and did not submit their so-called pizza on the Discord server. All they want is some merits! I understand that everyone's creativity and ability to create are not the same. Maybe I made the worst-looking pizza. But, at least you will be able to recognize that this is a pizza. They were not looking good. Still, it's a Pizza.

it may well be better to allow that one to be entered and to attempt to receive votes.. rather than completely leaving such a submission out of the contest...
If it's a pizza contest and someone submits an entry that is clearly not a pizza, what's the point then? If next year we make a pasta contest would you ever submit a risotto or a salad?

Are you suggesting that pizza has actually been clearly defined?  Then yeah no problem.  Are you going to presume that anyone looked at the dictionary for the definition of pizza or to know what is the definition of pizza if it has not been pointed out?  That's seems to be the point that I was attempting to make, which is people might have differing definitions of what is a pizza if such definition has not clearly been made from the start...

For example if the definition of pizza is that it has to have tomato sauce.. or it has to have bread or it has to have cheese or it has to be cooked in some kind of an enclosed space (oven)?  Can you make a pizza that would qualify in the contest without tomato sauce, without bread, without cheese, cooked in a pan or on a non-enclosed grill?

Hypothetically speaking, within a contest, pizza could have a variety of crazy-ass definitions including but not limited to that all pizza submissions must have some kind of a green vegetable (such as lettuce), noodles, corn, pineapple and/or anchovies contained therein.    Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

By the way, from my perspective (to the extent that it matters), if "pizza" has not been adequately defined at the beginning of the contest, then you (I am not referring to anyone in particular) better not be trying to define "pizza" after the fact.. and in that sense it is likely way better to wait until next year to define (clarify) what you believe is pizza (for the purposes of the contest) in order to have adequate ways to eliminate members based on their seemingly shitty submissions that are not likely to get votes, but they may well still end up receiving merits for being submitted to the "pizza" contest -  even if they are low effort and pretty loose with anyone's (who is anyone's) perspective of what might a "pizza" be.    Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
I'm sorry but are we actually debating what is considered pizza in 2023? Just a quick copy-paste from Wikipedia:

Pizza is a dish of Italian origin consisting of a usually round, flat base of leavened wheat-based dough topped with tomatoes, cheese, and often various other ingredients, which is then baked at a high temperature, traditionally in a wood-fired oven. [source]

If the "pizza" is not baked of course it can't be considered a pizza. If someone uses cake ingredients it can't be considered a pizza. I'm not saying that all the pizzas must be exactly as stated above but at least some basic steps must be followed.
I am not debating what is a pizza.  I am merely pointing out that if pizza has not been defined then it would not be fair to impose a definition after the contest has already started....

Regarding your wikipedia reference, was wikipedia pointed out as the "official definition" of pizza for the purpose of this contest?  #askingforafriend... myself    Wink   Tongue

By the way, in the end, I don't care that much regarding the extent to which the contest is fair or not - except stating my opinion regarding if the goal were to be to have a fair contest, then it is probably better to have the definitions of: "what is a pizza" for example, in the beginning of the contest, not being made up on the fly after a contest had already started.
I can't believe we're still discussing about what a pizza is because for you is acceptable to make a rice salad and call it a pizza. Please don't insult my intelligence, there is no need to "clearly define" a pizza for this type of contest, just google pizza and compare the images: do they look like rice salad? All I see is that some persons are very curious to join the competition because they can earn merits and others may feel like trying there skill in pizza making which is cool. We might not be able to differentiate someone that is hunting for merit and those who truly want to make there own pizza even though they might not be skilled in it. I hope so see some new type of pizza here maybe I can try learning how to make something similar to them.

I have a suggestion for you, or maybe another member from Italy who's willing to do it. It might be a good idea to write some basics about how pizza came to be, and why it is important in the culture of maintaining the Italian tradition. I believe that it would help many here to better understand the whole thing and why the current discussion is being held here.
I know there is an interesting story about Margarita and the 3 colors on it.

Also, If I remember correctly, you already wrote a short guide for pasta once.

Since we're arguing about the definition of pizza, there were opinions that we should have meat on pizza, that such meat should be on the outside, that pizza should be round and it should have tomato sauce and cheese on it, so without further ado, here's a pizza con patate.
