Do you have intermediate pictures of the process? Be aware of the rules in the first thread:
...
As it stands, since at the moment you only have final pictures, I can't consider your entry in order to have a fair competition environment...
I forgot to add a picture of the intermediate process of making this pie, tomorrow I will add that picture.
I will take some pictures from my wife's cell phone.

If this is allowed, I will add if this is not included in the competition qualification, maybe I can make a new one if I have free time.

I had a lot of fun participating in this last year!

I'll contribute 3 mBTC to the prize pool.
Thank you for your generosity PowerGlove. I will update the thread accordingly.
(I'm not sure I'll be able to participate again this year, but if I do find the time, it'll be on the same basis as last year: a submission with a ton of help from my wife; like I said last time, I'm much better at eating pies than I am at making them, especially without my buxom sous-chef to basically tell me exactly what to do and then let me take all the glory.) Cheesy
Please tell your wife that both of you will have to upgrade your skills for this year edition as the competition will surely be fierce. Tell her that bitcointalk fame awaits at the end of the competition  Cool.
Are we about to eat some pies, or each other? Tongue
I blame my gluttony for this mistake (or by being too much into the contest I guess?). Although each question that you made could be open for discussion, I will much prefer to correct the typo Smiley.

And, for giving a hand of help here, I proposed this topic inside AOBT group, for being translated in other languages, thus the contest will have more visibility inside the forum, by being announced in the local boards too. I don't know yet if my proposal will be approved, but I hope it will. In any case, I will certainly translate your topic in Romanian.
Thank you for that Gazeta! Like last year, I have messaged theymos to see if this year we could also have some spot in the "News" banner but that might not happen (which is understandable) so any support in spreading the contest is great.

The first submission for the Pie Baking contest.

Contest rules:

  • Pie must be made by yourself and the theme should be Bitcoin related. Check out last year entries[4] if you are unsure if your entry will be qualified or not.
  • The definition of a pie, per Merriam-Webster, states:
Code:
a: a dessert consisting of a filling (as of fruit or custard) in a pastry shell or topped with pastry or both
  • Any entry that doesn't follow the mentioned characteristics will not be counted for the contest.
  • In order to be qualified you should post a picture containing your homemade pie + a piece of paper with your username and date. At least 2 more pictures should be taken during the making of the pie to ensure that it wasn't bought;

The first submission for the Pie Baking contest.

There is no more interesting concept but I made a pie that is almost the same as the previous pie but it is still interesting and eaten with the family to celebrate this.  Smiley

Here are just a few photos of the finished pie.

Hey Rick, thank you for your efforts in iterating again this very nice contest! I liked a lot the fact that last year's iteration attracted many participants, thus the contest was a success. And I am more than sure that this edition will also be a success.

And, for giving a hand of help here, I proposed this topic inside AOBT group, for being translated in other languages, thus the contest will have more visibility inside the forum, by being announced in the local boards too. Thank you again for your nice thoughts and for organizing this contest!

@RickDeckard, If I throw some money into the pot for the prize pool, would I still be eligible to participate as a contestant in the competition?
You would still be edible eligible. From my perspective you are not buying anything and you are not getting any kind of leverage against other contestants by contributing to the prize pool. As an example, PowerGlove did the same last year[1][2].

Welcome to the second edition of the Bitcointalk Pie Baking Contest!

I wasn't expecting that the first edition of this contest would get any noticeable steam when I first shared this idea[1]. Thankfully I am glad to say that last year edition had a great number of entries and totally surpassed my expectations. I considered it to be a great success but it was only because of the community support and engagement. Thank you all.
This year I have a new challenge: To surpass last year success. Without further due, I am glad to announce that the second edition of the Bitcointalk Pie Baking contest is now LIVE!
The aim of the contest is still the same - Celebrate the famous Pie day but instead replace the Pie number with our beloved bitcoin symbol.

Prize:

There won't be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place this year. Per some feedback from last year, it would be great that users could vote in more than one entry. Adding to that I also believe that in such system we should aim to avoid letting votes go to waste. In an effort to strike a balance between ranking entries and making every vote count, this year the voting system will be based on the single transferable voting system[2]. You can see a practical example of the method here[3].

The amount of bitcoin gathered during the event will be distributed equally between the three most voted pies.

Like last year everyone is free to contribute to the prize pool. If you want to contribute to the pot just let me know and I'll update the table below. Currently the prize pool holds the following funds:

New prize (collectible) addition as of 10th of March:
The great artwork posted by 1Dq gave me an idea of an additional prize - A contest inspired canvas collectible made in collaboration with 1Dq! The artwork will be kept in secret and only myself and 1Dq will know the final result. That is, until the winner receives it and (hopefully) posts it!

Here is the main information:
  • Canvas size: 30x40cm/12x15in
  • The pool of winners of this collectible will be one of the 3 users that will share the podium;
  • The winner of the collectible will be chosen using bitmover Bitcointalk Giveaway Manager;
  • If the winner of the giveaway declines to receive the award, then another draft will be made using the same tool for the remaining 2;
  • If no winner accepts the award, then it shall be made a giveaway between all other entries to the contest;
  • This process will repeat until someone accepts the collectible.

Prize Pool:

Contest rules:

  • Pie must be made by yourself and the theme should be Bitcoin related. Check out last year entries[4] if you are unsure if your entry will be qualified or not.
  • The definition of a pie, per Merriam-Webster, states:
Code:
a: a dessert consisting of a filling (as of fruit or custard) in a pastry shell or topped with pastry or both
  • Any entry that doesn't follow the mentioned characteristics will not be counted for the contest.
  • In order to be qualified you should post a picture containing your homemade pie + a piece of paper with your username and date. At least 2 more pictures should be taken during the making of the pie to ensure that it wasn't bought;
  • Only 1 entry per user (you're free to include any number of pies on your picture);
  • Competition will be held in two phases:
    • 1st Phase - From 14th February (00:00 GMT) to 14th of March (23:59:59 GMT) : This is where all the users are free to submit their entries -> Live Countdown
    • 2nd Phase - Voting process from 15th of March to 29th of March (23:59:59 GMT). Winner shall be announced on the 31th of March.
      • During this phase, users are allowed to rank their entries in order of preference until a limit of 4. You are free to edit the vote until the 2nd phase ends.
      • Users that do not support more that one entry are free to vote in just one entry. You just can't surpass the limit of 4 (suffice to say, entries ranked above the 4th choice will not be considered).
      • No merit sending is allowed from nominees to users which nominated them
  • Independently of the submissions that we have, the prize pool will be distributed between the winners;

Who can participate & vote?:

  • Users with 30 merit (airdrop merit won't count) and 30 activity.
