I have just asked and will let you know asap!

Man, what would be better than a 6am poker game, hahaha. Cheesy

lol, i know right?! well i've been meaning to force myself to wake up earlier. this provides a little motivation. like i said though, i'm very open to pushing the game back a couple hours. Tongue

Using a VPN and come in from Canada to access the site... how you they be able to stop you unless you actually tell them you are from USA.

You got that, no? I am sure you will be in CA that day. Cheesy

yes, it shouldn't a problem---i just tested it and was able to register a new account via canadian IP address.

even if i cash i'll just keep the money on SB for the next private bitcointalk game anyway. the main problem is waking up early enough that i'm not short stacked when i sit down. Smiley

this may seem like a dumb question, but how do i navigate to the poker interface? i only see casino and sports betting.....

I wouldnt mind if we played 3 or 4 pm gmt - what does the rest think about it?

On the left navigation under "popular" you can choose poker:

I would like to hop-in and join this tournament as  well but I have 1 important question : How do I know that some of you are not IRL friends and gonna play in group just to make sure you get the prize ? Is this an official tournament ? Thanks.

If this is okay, then I will join for sure as I love playing poker and would  be nice to make it monthly tourney.

Now thats a good one! Cheesy You dont, I dont, nobody does - two guys participating can of course group up even if they were no rl friends... Thats not in our hands - to be honest though, I really dont think thats gonna happen - we want to play some poker just for fun with a little buy-in.

Sounds cool. Good idea @efialtis. Also I am comfortable with time as well but I am not sure if I will be free on that day. Still I would like to be on the list. I will drop a message 1-2 days before confirming my participation if that's alright.

Also would love to see it going regular.

Thats definitely what I am aiming for - maybe once a month or so. And who knows what the future will bring - maybe we will also have a very special tournament with all the monthly winners...  Cheesy Forget WSOP, here comes bitcointalk poker series!  Cool

I am very interested in joining this event, just waiting for when it will be held. Please let us know in this thread if everything has been agreed upon.

I have a question since this tournament is private only for forum people, are there certain conditions for those who want to join like do they have to have a Full Member rank and above to participate?

No conditions - anyone can participate. Smiley

awesome, @Steamtyme and i have been discussing getting a bitcointalk poker game going. you guys are one step ahead of us!

i would love to join. we're talking about sportsbet.io? sadly they prohibit players from the USA. does anyone know if playing through VPN and depositing/withdrawing with bitcoin (no KYC) is possible? their terms sound a bit dicey:

Quote
We have the right to carry out "KYC" (Know Your Customer) verification procedures and access to your Member Account may be blocked or closed if we determine that you have supplied false or misleading information.
Quote
We reserve the right to block / delay processing of withdrawal requests until requested copies of valid photographic identification, proof of address and/or credit/debit card are provided to our satisfaction (KYC).

how often do they exercise this "right"? Lips sealed

if i can manage to get in the game, then a non-turbo sunday NLHE $10 buy-in sounds perfect. 2pm gmt = 6am pst, so a bit later in the day would be ideal but (shrug).....

I have just asked and will let you know asap!

Man, what would be better than a 6am poker game, hahaha. Cheesy

Other than that - come on guys, we need more players! =)
Looks interesting. Count me in, I will gladly join if accepted Smiley
P.S: What about using a VPN or proxy for accessing the site?

Look, SB aren't just spending time hunting down people to defraud, not for hundreds of thousands as a JP player won at Bitcasino, certainly not for a what, $100 table of poker if we find enough people at $10 buy-in?

Don't take my words as advice but the ToC also actually doesn't let you access the site with an IP from a prohibited location. That means it automatically won't let you even login if you are doing that.

If you can login and access poker, you're not breaking that ToC;)

Wow sounds good for all poker lover out there but sadly because I dont really know how to play poker will try to research this game first before entering to real battle.

I am very interested in joining this event, just waiting for when it will be held. Please let us know in this thread if everything has been agreed upon.

Maybe its better to have a rank priority and above playing on newbie account just my own opinion its depend on OP if there will be a certain rank account to participant in this game.

Well it's 50/50 .
You can deposit $20 or so there , play poker through vpn ... if you're lucky enough the system didn't detected you are using vpn from US then they didn't asked for the kyc, you are free to play and withdraw the money there.

In the worst scheme, you won a lot from those $20 then they do a security checking and voila they prevent you from withdrawing the money  Grin. DWYOR

I agree it would be good to set them in BTC rather than $, like buwaytress said, but the stakes should be low since there are people used to playing at those poker tours with really cheap tickets ($1 sort of thing). My friend is one of those people who usually play at low-low stakes, but hopefully, he'll join you.

Stakes are complicated matter. It would be best if could have few tables with different stakes but there is not enough of us here to that. If stakes are too low than Texas holdem looses one of the best features - bluff. It is not the same if you are bluffing with little or no stakes or if there is a lot of money on the table. For me ideal stake would 50-100$ but I know that is highly unrealistic so I'll just let you guys agree on everything and join if I find the time.

Looks like we're beginning to get consensus. Sunday 2pm GMT sounds about right for me. If I have to leave midway, though Liverpool playing a bit after that is convenient, I'm happy to forfeit (or use autoplay if SB has that option. Probably update OP to have an instruction on how to confirm participation. Username, agree to pay how much, etc. 1 mbtc fee good, right guys?

Its not that tough Royse. Just watch a couple of youtube videos. I learnt poker by playing Red Dead Redemption 2 myself.

Exactly how I taught it to a 15 yr old too =p.

P.S. Time to delete those spammy replies.

I have updated the op and will provide more information (technical in order to join) asap. Also starting a poll now to see how people feel about 25/01 2 PM GMT.

Unfortunately it is not self-moderated, my bad...

Oh and come on guys, spread the word - we need as many players as possible! Smiley

I think that the timing is great, since playing late at night, because it's 'prime time' in the US sucks. I'm not much of a poker player, but I have a friend who really likes it. I'll pass the info to him and perhaps he'll join you guys as well. As for the stakes, I think they have not been discussed enough yet. I agree it would be good to set them in BTC rather than $, like buwaytress said, but the stakes should be low since there are people used to playing at those poker tours with really cheap tickets ($1 sort of thing). Edit: Sorry, he said he prefers poker tournaments with guaranteed prize pool.
