I didn't even know that this exists (or existed).

It would be interesting to try these features:

Also, a chat could be fun.

As of right now, I've no idea if there is a need for your script (I barely use any scripts these days). The ticker and the auto-formatting of addresses might be nice, but other than that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey there I'm back
I was focusing on pywallet but I just remembered I made this script
If there is some demand I can revive it
Not that that'd be a pleasure to dive into those really old 2k lines but I need to do a user script for myself anyway (e.g. for giving merit without exiting the current page)

I have no idea who is watching this thread.

So here was email a little while ago,

Hello,

The physical node which hosts the Droplet(s)listed below experienced an unrecoverable hardware failure. Following the failure, we attempted to recover disk images for the affected Droplets; unfortunately, these efforts were unsuccessful.

As a result, some data is permanently lost. We are currently in the process of migrating all remaining data to a new physical machine. Once we are completed, your Droplet will be accessible via the web console once again. While some Droplets may boot, there is likely to be some level of data corruption that may affect the performance and behavior of your Droplet, including the ability for some applications to even start. If you notice a discrepancy in data, or you're unable to boot the Droplet, we recommend attempting to manually recover from a backup or snapshot.

We sincerely apologize for any impact. If you have any questions related to this issue please send us a ticket from your cloud support page. https://cloudsupport.digitalocean.com/s/createticket

Thanks, DigitalOcean

Affected Droplets:
jackjack.xxxxxxxxx

-------------------------------------------------

I just logged in to email support and ask if we could recover something and violla, the droplet is back online.

I have a moral issue against rooting into this without jackjack's permission. Does anybody know how to contact him (or can they ask him to reach out to me?).

With his consent (or even help), i would love to get into the serverside code and work to get it updated and back online.

p.s. I rebooted it and all, can someone please check and see if the script is working? I don't have it on my current browser.

Still not working, http://btpp.jampa.eu//getpassword.php (for example) is unreachable. Ticker never loads, etc.

Link to github is in the first post of this topic.
Is that the link you mean https://github.com/jackjack-jj/btpp ?

This appears to be the userscript extension only, not the server-side thing. I have yet to locate that.

I also don't mind hosting it. I don't have a link handy to the github, i think if you just search google for bitcointalk++ github it should come up.

I'm going to email digital ocean and see if there's anything we can't do to get that data back even though the VPS had data loss.

Unfortunately the $5/month VPS I've been hosting it on for the past forever went offline the other day due to a digital ocean error. There was data loss. I have not tried to manually recover the database. Jack probably has backups of it somewhere, not sure.

Was good while it lasted.

Hope everyone is well. The code is on a github incase someone wants to try to resurrect it.

Could you possiblt PM a link to it or post the Githib here? Have been interested in this for some time, and appears Mitchell also wouldn't mind hosting it.

Okay well unless someone else wants to take over the managing of this plugin, i'm going to go ahead and shut down the VPS? No use in hosting it and paying for it if nobody can use the script anymore?

Is anybody else interested in continuing it?
I don't mind hosting it on my VPS, assuming that you have all the source files?

I wanted to, but didn't ever get it working as remote server never gave me password, etc. Is the server side stuff sourced anywhere?

Hey guys, is this project completely dead? I was really enjoying it for years. Should I go ahead and kill the VPS that the database is on?

Or is anyone still able to use it

Or maybe @jackjack we could get you to get 'er running again?

jackjack has long been banned.

The website seems to be very slow which causes the images to load not at all or really slowly.

I cannot even get the site to load at all anymore + greasemonkey is useless on latest Firefox.
Tampermonkey works fine on Firefox. Upgraded just a bit before the new version came out and had no issues since then. Haven't tested this script in particular on TM though.

I have had zero luck with it on Firefox Quantum. Looks like tampermonkey will require an entire rewrite https://www.ghacks.net/2017/09/21/greasemonkey-4-firefox-57-compatibility/

Not a big fan of most "upgrades" but this one has been impressive so far. Hate to lose ability to use bitcointalk++ though, had a nice old-school vibe to it. For now Cyrus' dark CSS at least tones down the brightness.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you're mixing up Greasemonkey (the AFAIK original userscript manager plugin) with Tampermonkey (a relatively new and IMO better plugin, written based on the WebExtension standard which sidesteps any incompatibilities a massive browser upgrade might bring).

AFAIK it uses the same GM_* API (with a few extra functions) so any Gresemonkey specific functions that BT++ uses (looking at the source, it seems to only use GM_xmlhttpRequest) should work on TM.

Indeed I was confusing the two! I appreciate your recommendation and assistance, works fine again. I had formerly only used it with Greasemonkey so had no idea. Tampermonkey does indeed appear to be superior! Smiley
