thanks for the thread, 15 years is a huge goal and i good know because in the past i was moderator/admin of some big forums that lasted a few years
I've never seen a forum as long-lived and used as this one
but then again we are talking about the main bitcoin forum, where Satoshi Nakamoto also wrote!

happy anniversary everyone

That is the power of crypto and bitcoin. The current management also has some role in this because many attempts in this niche by others failed to make any noticeable impact as a forum.

I would say let it go! It hurt less that way. Celebrate the ones still active and blessing us everyday with their knowledge. Today could be anyone's last!! The world is a strange place but death is not the end- death is the part we say "No to suffering", it's the most beautiful part of life adventure.

People have their own way to deal with it. I remember my friends, remember their memory, remember our time, good and bad. It makes me feel alive and inspire me to do good things knowing they are always watching and smiling. I feel empty inside but that emptiness reminds me that I am a part of greatness which brings the true meaning of my life.

According to therapists, both these approaches are normal.
Normally, in real life, I lean towards what BitcoinGirl.Club talks about. It gives me strength. I don't like letting it go, because it feels inappropriate, although there is nobody to tell us what's appropriate (or not) with our feelings.
In this forum, obviously, I don't know anybody.
I don't compare real life with digital life and this forum is the only "social media" I 've ever used.
This forum feels a lot like home to me - again, I don't compare it with real life -.
o_e_l_e_o has been the "uncle I 'd like to be like" in the future. Therefore, him gone has been a very powerful feeling, despite the fact that I don't know who he is. (I am using present tense on purpose).

A few things are certain:
  • there will be only 21 million bitcoin
  • time travel is not possible (a couple of notable exceptions involving flux capacitors)
  • I will try to stay part of this forum until my last day.

Happy Birthday, Bitcointalk.

I was late to the party, but I was able to grow into this community.
I still think that I got more from the dialogue with the giants on this board than from the contribution that I have made since I joined.
Satoshi, hal, lazlo, o_e_l_e_o : if I am what I am I surely own part of it from reading and rereading your posts.

It is good celebrating with you too as your efforts speaks of volume. I am happy you made it to this thread and I do not think you were late as the celebration is still on till it is a week as I see it (my own view).  I am also a body of your school of thought as it relates to this platform and Bitcoin and also applicable to my off forum engagements. I am so fascinated on your commitment to the growth and development of this platform and I believe not only me but other platform members are also learning from you.

Don't forget others.  TecShare, Bruno and many more.
Perhaps someone can make a dedicated thread about the lost jewels of the forum. We can always visit the thread and find the memories with them in discussions.

Happy 15th Anniversary Bitcointalk!

You are definitely right BitcoinGirl.Club.
In fact, as I said, I am relatively new so I must have missed some similar situations like o_e_l_e_o's.
My post, however, is dedicated to all the "lost" users of the forum.

Woc is truly a wise cracker and I'll be damned if the people around him ain't having a good time.

Yes, they do,
There was a time I laughed in an exam *Because I remember something funny about a buddy sitting behind me*, and the professor was like, 'Dude... why are you laughing here? It's not the place.' The girl taking her exam beside me started smiling; it was fun.

I am surprised that someone recognized the humor.

@Foxy I hope you don't mind me getting a little attention in a thread dedicated to You, tAcO(s) Grin & Forum's Anni.  Smiley

Happy 15th Anniversary to Bitcointalk!

It's been one hell of a ride, for sure. Since then, Bitcoin has achieved a lot. The price of Bitcoin in 2009 was around $0.001 or something, and now, it is almost about to hit $100k. It's a great leap, and Bitcoin is an invention that will be remembered for centuries to come.

I have had many positive changes in my life because of this forum and Bitcoin, so I'll always be grateful to Satoshi for creating Bitcoin and blessing us with its presence. I am lucky to have been a part of this space before many others.

Lastly, thank you, @Foxpup, for the taco.  Wink The cheesecake tasted average after that.  Smiley

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
My request got fulfilled and images are full and vivid now! Shocked

Cookies are done for the time being and I am going to take an imaginary bite off the cheesecakes (not popular where I live) - attempting to savour the deliciousness of the cake.

Bitcoin trying to cross 100k USD and bitcointalk turned 15years, what a time to be online!

I know I ought not be giving Foxpup merits, lest people start to really think we're cycling merits amongst club members, but once in a while I just have to say FUCK'T.  Happy anniversary to the forum, and I bow before the vilest of vixens.

haha... finally we have undisputable proof that the Dirty Turds are indeed merit cycling to solidify their grasp on power while licking each others filthy bums in the form of reciprocal merit giving. its an observable instance of provable evidence that you can't undo now you chemical toilet cleaner, not even with the help of Robovac, we can all see that you and him and Foxpoop use your hoard of merits to game the trust system and punish the whistleblowers, like the true hero of this forum, and we know that you cannot refute this despite multiple failed attempts to debunk our verifiable list of provable facts.

I wanted to make a new account to post this but got hit with an evil fee, so oh well.

Crazy to think I've had an account here for 10+ of the 15 years.

And boy oh boy, the longer I'm a member here, the more OG I get--even though I was about six years late to the party.  Most of the real OG members are long gone, presumably basking under the sunshine on their private islands they bought with bitcoin they mined or bought when it was worth pennies.  At least that's the impression I've always had.  This forum rocks, even with all of the garbage shitposters still present (hopefully that last part isn't what drove the old-timers away).
And only the OGs know that your username before was "The Pharmacist".  Kiss

And you are not OG enough to know that The Pharmacist is also, Huge Black Woman
  Grin

So yes, congrats to this whole community, we have been in a lot of ups and downs, but at the end of the day, we remain as one of the oldest community in the Internet and most active one I guess and it will continue to the next 15 years or so.

You knew it had to happen. Today marks the 15th anniversary of the founding of the forum, and although nobody asked for it, as a three-time Miss Bitcointalk winner, I feel it is my duty to the forum to provide this type of entertainment for such an auspicious occasion. (Besides, I have my reputation as vixen to maintain. Wink)

Our queen is always thorough about everything Roll Eyes

Five years ago I was thinking if we could have a party in Arnhem for the 15th anniversary but it it seemed it would have been only a 3-4 attendees party Cheesy (I hope Lucius, Spendulus and aoluain are not waiting there in this very moment Smiley)

I actually thought recently about that old topic of mine... like a nice memory...

But I am more than glad to see that Queen of all Foxes made this nice gesture and organized this party! Thank you!

Happy 15th anniversary to everybody!!!

I 've already posted in the thread, but I needed to say something more.
I 've seen many people mentioning o_e_l_e_o and, I have to say, I miss him...
I suggest, after celebrating the day as we should do, that we just spend some time thinking how much o_e_l_e_o has ameliorated the forum with his presence.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
Eight juicy tacos *Embarrassed to explain in detail*
I'm pretty sure I have but one taco, unless one or both of us is confused by all these food-related euphemisms. Embarrassed
bahahaha... I mean, how did you realize that to be a euphemism but missed the joke? Woc is truly a wise cracker and I'll be damned if the people around him ain't having a good time.
nvm, confusion is better in this case  Grin
Stop cracking us all up...  Tongue

BTW, you did a good job vixen and I'd wanna commend you earnestly.. I remember a thread in meta where we had to suggest who would do this, but nobody was willing to, until you stepped out. Again, you deserve all the flowers.
Thank you to all users and staff, both past and present, who have made the forum what it is today!
Thanks to Theymos!!!!!!

Happy 15th anniversary to the forum... If life permits us all, we'll celebrate like this again in a few more years to come.
