I think autotune should have been a new version. s9+ or something, s10.
It's a different animal.
Ja. Why Bitmain abandoned their practice of the "+", no idea. Especially considering that it is a one-way street in the s9 firmware's compatibility. Per Bitmain about using pre-batch 16 firmware in batch 16 and higher miners:
Quote
CAUTION: This firmware is only valid for machines purchased prior to October 1, 2016. Using the firmware on machines purchased after that date (Batch 16, 17 and higher) will cause the machine to malfunction and void the warranty.

I tried going back to 7-15 550 tar and it did not work for me.
The wheel was turning for 15 min, then disconnected. Not sure if the slow upload is to blame or software incompatibility (probably the former).
Will try late tonight when there is less traffic to hosting. I don't like 11-25 at all. Maybe 50-100 more gh (on average) at the expense of boards staying at above 94C in ambient that is below 70F. It is kind of sad that they could not properly master their older S9 in 4 months that had passed.

hi all, please help, after upgrade my s9 to latest version, i cant hashing anymore.

"Socket connect failed: Connection refused"

my version is 12.93ths, i have set the 600M freq, but still cant make any hashing.

please help... Cry Cry Cry Cry

first look at the mirror and curse at your self for doing a firmware upgrade when your gear was working. Grin

next power down.  wait 5 minutes  power up

then wait 1 hour and check your gui

good luck bro

well, people were doing upgrades because their gear was working, but close to 100C, at least i was on one machine and only because someone posted that upgrading decrease chip temp a bit. I did not upgrade two other S9 because the upgrade procedure was so bizarre. Who knows how long miner can tolerate being close or at 100C. I have a feeling that during summer/fall one of S9 boards faulted because of the high temp, but I could be wrong.

1. It is unwise for bitmain to roll out upgrades every day without proper testing and a description writeup.
2. If someone can organize a proper repository, people were volunteering to upload prior updates.
3. From my experience, socket error message should disappear in 5-7 min, but it you did some frantic actions, then it might not.
two things: first just try a soft reboot in the system pane. If that did not work, try a hard reboot via PSU on/off switch. Keep it off for 15-20 sec.
If that did not work, but miner is online, remove the copy of software that you were trying to upload from PC, then download it again. Once download is done, upload it to miner and let it do it's stuff for 10-15 min, then see if you got mhz choice pane (550, 600, 650). Choose, click on set, wait another 10 min, click on mining pane. If no mining, soft reboot in system (wait 7-10 min) and if not, again hard reboot and wait 7-10 min.

If all of the above did not work, miner is in trouble.

I feel very regret for doing upgrade!!, seriously.., it's an hour ++, it's still not hashing,.. Oh My God!, it's anyway to restore to its original version firmware?

I didn't get the 11-28 version.  Is the consensus that 11-28 is better than both 11-25 and 11-29?  I would like one of the newer ones that evens out the fan cycling.

Shocked Shocked 1 hour? you serious?
To see how it is really doing, yes he is.
That said, check every 10 min or so though. The socket connection error is from the hash boards being busy with their auto-tuning. The hardware (hash boards) will connect to the miner software when it is finished.

hi, i just got my antminers S9 but they are working at temps over 100, but all my S7 are working under 50 temp, i have good cooling, (with s9 i can not edit the fan speed and its realy quiet it might be the problem) is there a way to activate this setting ?

Have you tried resetting them?? Not sure how on an S9 but im sure it will be in the manual somewhere.
Looks like you have autotune s9's
What version of firmware are you running? What is the speed on the label? The new 11-29 firmware should work well for you with cooler temps.
No fan setting on the new autotunes, it figures out what the speed should be.
where can i see the firmware version? and what speed and label are u talking about?

@wolfen
I made a filebox for firmware at http://www.filefactory.com
It is password protected for upload. PMed (you are welcome to upload whatever you have re firmware).
I will only accept genuine files (no changes) from people I already know.
Surprisingly, this site does not have https, not sure why.

EDIT: Nevermind, this is a sneaky site.
It told me to setup just the password, but now it requests email addresses and names of uploaders when i NEVER specified this.
Another info collecting entity.

Also be aware that the s7's report only board temps. I take it the temps you are concerned about are the chip temps - not boards right? Can't compare the 2 as the chip temps are always high on the s9's. As in from mid 80's to yes even around 100C.

there is no 11-28 anymore, replaced by 11-29.
I wonder...if something needed to be added one day later, would you need at least a few days to check it out?
If someone used 11-29 firmware, please post.
I have one B12 miner on 11-25, chip temp are too high. I have another on 7-13 and chip temp are 10-13C lower.

@wolfen or anyone else, maybe we can organize a firmware repository: i am interested in earlier reliable firmware for a 550 mhz machine (my understanding is that 7-13 firmware is just for 600mhz, but I could be wrong). If you can post the 7-13 tar, it would be great.
I use the 600M 7-13 on my 550M machines, works ok , you can set the freq and the fans.
