One of my S9-s board stopped hashing after the warranty was over, I might need to send it for repair at my own costs.
As I know I need to send it in US right? And also what will be the max cost of repair/replace the board ?

I paid $150 plus $25 Shipping to Colorado a couple weeks ago....location is relevant to the shipping cost.
I'm sending my boards from Georgia, Tbilisi. Shipping would be higher. Does they pay for shipping back or it is on me too ?

I think that they have a site in both Russia and Ukraine for all EU/european customers.

Er, contact them first. As far as I know they have EU and Russian repair sites as well as the one in Colorado.

freq set to 600, all boards show the same, fan at 90%, approx 12.7th scoring, noise wise its the quietest of 5 s9's - no howling

So my batch 21 13.5 s9  purchased from Bitmain Colorado 5 Nov was actually getting pretty decent numbers, took a look at it one morning and pow, one board not hashing…power down/up multiple times etc etc .. no change, contacted Colorado, sent them the appropriate screen shots, they offered an exchange of the entire unit, bundled it up and shipped it off yesterday.  I don’t recall reading anyone else exchanging an entire unit, could this be the beginnings of EXCELLENT customer service?Huh

So I sent off my batch 21 13.5th to bitmain warranty.com Friday after they offered to exchange it after a board stopped hashing and now Thursday night its merrily hashing away in my garage (granted the proximity of Kansas to Colorado is probably relevant) but it included this little stocking stuffer…

Kernel Version   Linux 3.14.0-xilinx-gf387dab-dirty #38 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jun 17 20:02:51 CST 2016
File System Version   Fri Jul 15 21:14:01 CST 2016

There is a 13.5 sticker on it but it includes the fan speed control and adjustable freq  YEEESSS
  Thank You BitmainWarranty.com

That is the last pre-autotune firmware. Are all the boards running at the same frequency?

What do you guys reckon is a best temperature for those miners to run on? I have noticed that when it becomes too cold it starts hashing lower. Its very strange, but it seem to me the best performance is when the chips are about 100C. Is that still safe temperature to run on?

Any miner I've had that I've been able to see the temp on has run best when the BOARD temp is 50c so whatever the chips are in relation to that. Usually about 20-30c more than the board.

I was able to finally rollback my Batch 12 S9 to 7/11 version. What a relief!
Chip temperatures are 10C lower, errors are 5-6 times lower as well.
As far as i can see, bitmain was focused on autotuning and made a firmware (11-25) that is worse for non-autotuning batches.
No progress at all for four months (in software) as far as early S9 batches are concerned.
That is excellent news Smiley

I am curious to know what everyone else has done with junk boards. Maybe sidehack could salvage the asics and build a limited run of stick miners or pods?
Starting with chips in the s7 the combination of smaller package size/finer lead pitch coupled with top sinks epoxied to them, all make the harvesting and reuse of the chips nigh impossible.

Is a burned board repairable or basically junk?

It depends what has been burned.

Give us a picture.

One board is burnt under the heat sinks which I have not yet removed and also burned on the front end. A second board has light burn marks on the front end as well.

Hard to see in these pictures

don't send it, it's junk
You may want to throw it on ebay and let them bid it up. I'm sure there are parts/heatsinks that can be used.
If you send the pictures to bitmainwarranty.com and create a support ticket they can tell you for sure if they can repair.
