Evil beware: We have waffles!
Looks like they are confiscating gold from India's people. Jewelry also.
And to balance that with the Official stance:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/No-tax-on-jewellery/gold-purchased-out-of-disclosed-income-Finance-Ministry/articleshow/55724734.cms
It is Gold from undisclosed income they are after.

Same error as here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.17033838

I had a S9 mining at around 5.6TH, so decided I'd try the newest firmware.
Now I get this:
Hardware Version   Socket connect failed: Connection refused
Kernel Version   Linux 3.10.31-ltsi-00003-gcf03eb9 #81 SMP Mon Apr 25 11:20:36 CST 2016
File System Version   Tue Nov 29 06:13:15 EST 2016
BMminer Version
Uptime   1
Load Average   0.13, 0.04, 0.01

Tried power reset, leaving it unplugged, everything I could think of.
What should I do?

Hey team,

I noticed my S9 today (for a few hours) experienced a drop in hashrate for 1 board. It went from a typical 4600 GH/s down to 1250 for about 3 hours until I noticed. There were no xxx or anything. I restarted the miner and it is hashing like normal again. I will continue to monitor. I've had the miner for about 2 weeks.

Should I be concerned? Do you think the hashboard would have recovered on it's own eventually? Do you think it would have been bad to continue without restarting?

Thanks
I would guess that the temperature of the chips dipped too low. It is a common problem for the S7 as well. You will not usually see any Xs when it happens either.

You may be right the ambient temp in my garage is 4 deg C at the moment. I am working to increase the ambient temperature.

Cheers
I wonder if you could redirect some of the heat output back into the input.

Good idea man! This is what I ended up doing, I put my S9 on a shelf and enclosed it in a bed sheet. Much of the airflow is returned to the intake, and much is replaced with fresh cold air. Simple and cheap Smiley
Perfect, I was going to say put in a cardboard box with adjustable hole on top.
Bedsheet provides pretty good insulation, heat containment.

If you've got one S9 hooked upto the APW3 PSU then if you unplug the PSU from the wall then it will stop mining and switch off. Possibly run for a second or two once power is off as the capacitors will have to discharge.

just don't touch that plug with your hand after you disconnected or you will get a fine memory...not.

Two 11.85th boards arrived today. Will crank them up later.

so, so far what is your % of boards that went bad?

Not sure, pretty low. 90 boards, 4 bad after a while. 2 warranty, 2 not.
Have batch ones and up.
They are not as reliable as s7's were.
But they use a POOPload less power.

i just don't see a on/ off switch on the BITMAIN APW3-12-1600-B2....what do i do ? Huh

It just occurred to me that you did not even connect a power strip to the wall before connecting your APW3 to it.
A good power strip has an on/off switch, which you can use.
Using high power power supplies connected to expensive equipment without an adequate power strip (or PDU) is a good way to get your equipment ruined if there is a lightning nearby. I use APC:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/457933/SurgeArrest_P8U2_8-Outlet_Surge_Protector_w-_2_USB_Ports

not sure if it is enough, but was OK so far when lightning shutdown everything on multiple occasions.
It also has an electrical noise filtering (EMI/RFI) and would indicate a faulty circuit.

Very good point I should have mentioned that. Some things are common sense to me, but sometimes I must remember everyone hasn't quite got the same sense  Roll Eyes Cheesy

You should see a pair of yellow and green wires leading to a 2-pin plug with green jumper. That is the DC on/off for the PSU.
Pull the jumper and DC to the miners is off, connected the jumper and DC is on. That is where you can put a switch to replace the jumper if desired.

As for 'power remains on when (power) plug pulled' is just the stored power being bled off by the fan. That power reserve is NOT feeding the miner because the supply turns the DC output off when the line drops out.

Wow. They did not provide a switch?
see instructions here (two methods):
https://enshop.bitmain.com/files/download/APW3-12-1600%20user%20guide.pdf
page 5/8

I assume that any PC mobo on/off switch would do for method #1, assuming that distance between on/off and gnd is like on computer motherboards.
Search for "motherboard power switch" on ebay.

yanking power from the wall is iffy. At least figure out which circuit it is on (in power box) and maybe switch the circuit off before disconnecting power from the wall. BEWARE that PSU even when disconnected can still jolt you pretty good if you touch the power plug after disconnecting.

can somebody share their experiences with this problem because directly pulling the jack from the wall sounds stupid? i don't know jack about electronics so this turning on/off you said i don't understand nothing....Also when i just plug the PSU from the wall it still keeps running so i thought they installed some kind of protection measure for electricity shortage.

awesomeminer.exe will allow you to shut mining off but not power. Doesn't really pull any power not hashing
Just kills the bmminer program.

How do i turn ant miner 9 off through the computer interface? so i don't need to plug it off directly from the socket

is this a theoretical question?
you don't plug S9 into the socket to start with, you connect it via PCIe cables to power supply unit (PSU), which typically has an on/off switch.
it is fine to switch antminer off by switching the PSU off, but wait minimal of 20-30 sec to switch it back on.
you can only reboot the software via gui as far as i remember, although if you don't provide correct pool info, it would not mine, but I am not sure if this is good for the miner as boards might heat up anyway (not sure about the latter point).
