How can something be IT Administrator Resistant?! I'm mining just fine  Grin

Found my first block, 7 hpm
I wrote that there is little protection (large memory requirements and the restriction on the number of processes. In any case, this coin harder to mine than XPM, where you can throw a little invisible process that don't use much memory, and no one will know it.

User are trained to look for cpu usage and not memory so it won't matter if you start one xpm thread with low memory usage or one proto thread with 700 mb memory, even finding a blocking process is beyond many users capabilities. Even quads are uncommon in offices so the sneaky sysadmin woulnd't start more than one thread anyway, thus the 3 threads limit is ineffective.

If you are a datacenter admin on the other hand, both doesn't bother you since you're either running linux or just spam instances.

But we are going offtopic  Grin

Started mining about 9:30 am

So far 2 blocks on 6 core Gulftown (within minutes of each other), 1 block on dual Xeons, 0 blocks on quad opterons.

There's a $5000 bounty for anyone who can prove it is vulnerable to GPUs or ASICs.

Nice bounty

So, is it true that the when you have 1 x 10 hpm the chance of finding a block is greater then when you have 2x 5 hpm? I think somone wrote that at some point, just wantet to ask if that is true?

Yes, definitely it is true. It is better to provide more hashing power in one instance. I switched from 2 and 2 threads to 3 and 1, and found a block.

well ok, I guess I will switch back to one or two instances....thogh that is quite unfair then, that means the big guys with 60 hpm dont get 6 times as much but rather maybe 20 (or what ever) times?
Though that would explain where all the blocks go Sad

I run it with Mac successfully. So how to mine? There is no debug window for mac version.

Thanks.

Check that CPU and memory is under heavily utilization.

FreeTrade, please don't make any changes in client, because the present client has a botnet-resistant and IT Administrator resistant (this resistant is light but useful for other people)

Nothing is IT admin resistant,  resistance is futile.

Good to see a new algo .

I love this subforum.
There is some restrictions that make it difficult to use the full power. And that's good.

Where can I see more details on the mining procedure? Shares accepted etc? What are the commands?
Thank you in advance!
All solo mining right now.

How many blocks has everyone got? I just landed my 5th.

Congrats. Still waiting for my 1st block with a core i5 and a lappy i3.

Its very hard to solo mining this coin.

May be the pool is useful

For Windows 7 you can see some information in file debug.log located in [YourSystemDisk]\Users\[YourUserProfile]\AppData\Roaming\ProtoShares
