Hi

I disabled 2FA because I dont had the passphrase for it.
I still cant do any transactions!
Wallet is asking me again for a passphrase I dont have!
Please tell technicans they should set it again to standard, I dont have a passphrase and my money is locked there!

many thanks

Hi lycantrop,

Our technicians have checked that everything is working. We can't reset your passphrase because our wallets are user created and we don't have the private key. When creating your wallet the system displayed multiple warnings about how important the backup pdf is and that we can't recreate or reset it for you. You can try as many passphrases as you like, maybe you will have luck and find your passphrase. Again we do not have access to your wallet, we can not reset your passphrase or move funds from our side.

I'm truly sorry for your loss of funds but this is how bitcoin wallets work.

Best regards,

Robert @Bitwala

omg, it worked! i had luck trying out some password, thanks for help!

What do you mean the money is lost Huh?
I have 655 EUR locked there !!!
THE SYSTEM NEVER ASKED ME FOR DOING BACKUPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have 655 EUR in my bitwala wallet and i want to load my CREDIT CARD with it !!!
Dont steal my money!!!!!!!!

Well unfortunately if the wallets are stored encrypted on their server, there's nothing they can do to recover the funds since you are the only one holding the password. Have you tried entering the password on different devices because it might be a keyboard layout problem or something. If you don't figure out the password, you can always ask the wallet file from them or the encrypted private keys (or whatever method they are using for the wallets) and try to bruteforce it open if you remember even a bit from the password.

Which backup pdf? How can i request this PDF?
In past i had never put a "passphrase" before transaction, now system demands a "passphrase", what is this passphrase, is that my login password?
I never had an passphrase for my bitwala wallet, why is it now?
Is this passphrase from google authenticator?

Hi lycantrop,

When creating your Bitwala Wallet via mobile or web app you are asked to create/save your backup. This backup pfd contains all the info you need to recreate your wallet and your passphrase (the passphrase is of your choosing). If you created your wallet via the mobile app you have been asked if a webcam is close by to create the pdf by "scanning" your backup QR codes. If you have not done this yet please do.

The passphrase is not your password that you use to log in.

Best regards,

Robert @Bitwala

Guys, do you have any problems during transactions or during loading card?

I get everytime an error-message "Problem decrypting key.Wrong passphrase?"

Also I get no answer from support despite multiple support-messages!

Hi lycantrop,

The technical team got back to me and everything is working as normal. Please check your backup pdf to make sure the passphrase is correct.

Best regards,

Robert @Bitwala

Bitwala is having problems again with the card loads for me. Anyone else is having this problem?
Mine has been stuck since yesterday night :/

Hey onnz423,

We have had a higher demand on card top-ups over the weekend than expected. Our team are topping up cards as we speak.

Best regards and my apologies for waiting.

Hi bitwala,

any FAQ about the tax in germany? Im from germany.
For example: If i buy 1btc at 6000€ and the transfer to the bitwala wallet. After that price increase to 6400€ for 1 btc. Now i do some payouts with my bitwala card. What i need to do? Or is tax include in the system?

thx for the answer.

Hi micaxel,

Sadly we can't give you any tax advice. I can only recommend you ask your tax advisor.
