I feel like a dope for paying 1.99 for several of these. Part of my "value" calculation was the ability to mine for a period of time, then resell the hardware. Now that possibility is gone.

Even your resellers are fearful of ordering another lot for fear they will be undercut again by price cuts and have a lot of unsold inventory.

In hindsight, you should have picked a reasonable price to begin with and stuck with it.  There's no way I will order any more of these for fear of getting fucked again.

Only reasonable price for those is $25ish.

what is the order email address for US customers. I don't see it in the first post.

I believe the order email address for batches of 50 or more is [email protected]

That is the email address I used in past communication for ASICMiner USB purchases.

Everyone knew that a block erupter would never earn 2 BTC from day one, so they were overpriced. Once you acknowledge that fact, it just becomes a question of who gets left holding the bag.

As a reseller, you can protect yourself from these sorts of things by only offering products to your buyers that provide them with a decent value and pass on the overpriced offerings!

I don't understand all these people who complain about them "overpriced" and "robbery".
If you don't like the price then simply don't buy. There is no lack of demand even at this price, so nobody cares about your complaints. Obviously AM reaps the benefits of no competition, and that's okay, because the price is determined by market, not production costs. You don't expect friedcat to be marxist even though he is from "communist" China. Smiley

Yes, no one forced people to buy them. But people are stupid and will be pissed off at you once they'll realize they can't turn profit on their 2BTC USB-sticks. I already wrote about this before that they should decrease prices in steps not to piss off buyers. For example price decrease of 0.1BTC every week (and a bit lower initial price) right from the beginning would not piss off so many people as it does now. It probably still wouldn't be profitable, but at least less people would be angry, therefore buying more in the future and even with decreased prices the revenues still can be as high due to increased volumes.

Of course you can enter the numbers into https://bitclockers.com/calc (mining calculator) and see for yourself.

An estimate on difficulty growth is not so hard to make either. Just look at hashrate increases from last weeks and enter the percentage. But I as already said, people are stupid, and for their own sake (AM) should not piss off the buyers so they will buy more products IN THE FUTURE.

Bitcoin - helping to end bankster enslavement.
Now that its .99 each I would like to order 200 units but I want to do it via Escrow so I know I'm not getting screwed by sending that many bitcoins to someone I don't know.

My asshole is already to big because of BFL and Avalon delays I'm not going through that again.

I don't know what does this mean...
"Customers in Canada Please contact forum member teek, whose RRP is agreed by us."

Last time I wanted to order Someone with a gmail address gives me a bitcoin address and tells me to send money.  Come on!!!
Lets get real here I need some sort of security.

I can't believe so many people are complaining about price drops.

News flash, bitcoin difficulty is going up fast, so ASIC price drops are going to be the name of the game from here on out.

If you thought a block erupter was a good enough value to buy at 2 BTC, it should be a screaming buy at 1 BTC, so buy some more.

OP says forum user Teek handles Canada, but i don't see any group buy thread or similar thread started by such a user so not sure how to proceed...

Teek runs wtcr.ca, you can buy them there or on bitmit

It's at 3 Bitcoin per share and look at their dividend payouts...terrible.

I actually rage when I see things like this. . Even at current all-time-high prices, AM shares have an annual yield of 28%. Now, go out and find me ANY OTHER INVESTMENT IN THE WORLD offering that sort of return. Jesus Christ.

EDIT: Sorry, name-calling is mean.

Still the Best 1973
And that would be like any product with a price drop anyway. Like those massively expensive plasma screen HDTVs.

By buying USB Block Erupters at 1.99 BTC, you made the decision to give your money to friedcat in exchange for the product. If you got your product, nothing is wrong. There was never any promise that you would be refunded if prices dropped.

If you bought 950 at 1.99 and now 50 at 0.99 they will pay the difference 50 x 0.1 = 5 BTC

950*1.99 = 1890.50 BTC  ,  50*0.99 = 49.50 BTC

1890.50 +49.50 = 1940 - 5 = 1935

1000*0.99 = 990 BTC , 1000*0.1 = 100 BTC

990 - 100 = 890BTC

890*2 = 1780 BTC for 2000 USB Block Erupter... 1935 BTC for 1000 early adopters.

Early adopter get's Scammed... And community still says friedcat u done well... Cheesy

I assume this is in jest and not an actual accusation against friedcat for scamming/price-fixing/etc (I say this because the cost could have remained the same, however I believe production has become more streamlined and demand still high enough to warrant continued production and now we all can benefit from a lower cost).

Awesome. Bought 6 of these at the old price 12 days ago and still don't even have them, and now a price drop. Fucking great.
I'm not sure who you ordered from (although the original order is likely placed if you are expecting them in the mail, so I'm assuming you are not up for a refund), however if you ordered direct, a friendly (lol keep that in mind) PM couldn't hurt.

Anyway the real reason for this post was regarding running a Block Erupter from a Raspberry Pi.  Given that you are providing the Pi (although I would only recommend doing so with a Model B, Rev. 2 unit) with enough power (I recommend a custom adapter rated at 5.25V/2A - the reason being that voltage is lost due to the cable in use and other fun electrical reasons and this will give your 5V products 5V, instead of 4.75V; also regarding amps, the Pi can use up to 700mA on it's own, if available, so the reasoning behind this should be obvious) you will likely be able to run 1 Block Erupter, however I take no responsibility for whatever happens to your hardware (most likely the worst possible outcome would be tripping the fuses on your Pi's USB port, and if you can afford to buy one of these units you can likely afford another Pi  Tongue).

Note:
I have an extremely bad habit of writing in parathesis when I am tired and seeing as I've been up for hours without coffee, I made the main sentence bold to be more easily read, however please read the entire post before acting on it.
