OP Updated

If you reach the total volume of 1,000 USB sticks, price is dropped to 0.89 each. We will also pay back the price difference of all your historic transaction (timeline started from the 0.99 pricing) of USB sticks. For example, if you bought more than 1,000 sticks, 500 for 1.99 and 500 for 0.99, the new price will be 0.89, and we will pay you the price difference for the 0.99 USB sticks, that is (0.99-0.89)*500=50BTC.

Sorry for the original ambiguation before that misled some customers that the price difference we pay back is 1.0BTC. What we expected to say is for the price difference based on both new prices.

Sure the dividends seem small, but the share value continues to grow. You can always sell the shares and make a profit.
When it comes to investing in niche markets without even partial company disclosures, you might run out of buyers.

I want 25 at the new price guys.  If there is another buyer that can match my amount, PM me so that we can go in on one together.

Take that 1 Bitcoin and invest it into something which might make a return.
ASICMiner shares?
It's at 3 Bitcoin per share and look at their dividend payouts...terrible.

Soooo they figured they were done price gouging their potential customers, and decided to give them a (little) break?

Legitimate question:

Does this mean that they are going to refund 1.99 BTC-0.89 BTC = 1.1 BTC per unit to anyone who has purchased over 1000 units?  Or 1.1BTC *1000 = 1100 BTC to each person who has purchased over 1k units?  If so, where does that BTC come from, and how does it affect dividends?  Or am I reading this wrong?

I almost asked this also since its a bit ambiguously wordd.

I'll bet that since these are new terms of sale, the 1000 counter starts today.

If not, I'd hope the buy organizers will return some of the 1.1btc to those buyers who helped them hit their quota.

Yep...all these Bitcoin supporters who are lining AsicMiners' pockets are hurting themselves in the long run. If you are interesting in Bitcoin mining you need to steer clear of this device.
Problem is nobody else is shipping anything immediately (unless you ordered MONTHS ago) so what do you suggest?

On top of that, buying from them you know that this just allows them to put up more of their own hashing power

2BTC per miner is highway robbery and they knew it.
1BTC is just robbery.

+1

Said to a colleague today, now they are only overpriced, instead of ridiculously overpriced.

As they cost about .15 BTC each to make (yes, I know this is a guess but it is an educated one), a selling price of .5 BTC each would be fair and also allow they buyer to actually make a profit.  At almost 1 BTC I do not see a profit in them with difficulty growing.  On top of that, buying from them you know that this just allows them to put up more of their own hashing power (since they pay so much less for it) without going over 50%.  You are doing them a favor at this point.

Dropping a price by 50% a month after launch is just dumb and it's likely to confuse your prospective customers.

Difficulty double up, so I think it is OK lowering the price.
Now they're at the same price when they started selling them.
They can't decide the USB's price, it is the market and difficulty. If Bitcoin changes fast, price needs to do the same.

You can't kill math.
If anything, people should learn to stay away from AsicMiners' stuff until they drop their prices, because they will do it.
All prices drop all the time. That laptop you purchased last year for $1500? Today you can get the same one for just $1000. It's how technology works!

No dude it is not.  Manufacturers set prices based on product lines.  The model has a manufacturers suggested retail price which probably will not change over the life of the product.  If you bought abc tv at walmart and then a week later they dropped the price by 50% what would you do?  I'd demand the lower price and you know what, walmart would give it to me because they understand marketing and sales.

Yes, well, they must be setting it on supply and demand. There isn't enough demand for the USBs to justify a bulk order, so they lower the price to generate marginal profit.

And obviously the difficult changed since last month Wink

This isn't fair for Canadians.  I want to order 1000 USBS.  However,  I want to take advantage of my previous 50BTC order so that I can get 50BTC off, but WTCR in Canada won't be able to honor this.  It now seems that Friedcat is screening out Canadian emails as he hasn't replied to me for quite awhile now, as he probably wants me to deal directly with WTCR.  Bullshit.

WTCR is capable of getting 1000+ units for you.  I wouldn't worry about that!

I won't get the 50 BTC rebate though for my previous 50 unit order.  Did you miss that part?  It was never a question of not being able to get 1000.
