Dropping a price by 50% a month after launch is just dumb and it's likely to confuse your prospective customers.

2BTC per miner is highway robbery and they knew it.
1BTC is just robbery.

Dude the price drop is ridiculous.  ... And these price drops of 50% or more are stupid.

Yeah, at least on the AM Blades it was 75BTC down to 50BTC. I agree this price drop of 50% is a bit difficult to stomach Sad

If anything, people should learn to stay away from AsicMiners' stuff until they drop their prices, because they will do it.
All prices drop all the time. That laptop you purchased last year for $1500? Today you can get the same one for just $1000. It's how technology works!

No dude it is not.  Manufacturers set prices based on product lines.  The model has a manufacturers suggested retail price which probably will not change over the life of the product.  If you bought abc tv at walmart and then a week later they dropped the price by 50% what would you do?  I'd demand the lower price and you know what, walmart would give it to me because they understand marketing and sales.

It's only been a few weeks.  Tongue

Also...laptop can be useful for many years. Asics do only one thing and there's even backroom talk amongst the developer(s)/supporters to change the code to make it hard on Asics.

If they drop the price in half one more time, I might start to get interested.  At the current price, it would only be enticing for folks who were contemplating GPU or FPGA rigs.  The price needs to get down to .5BTC per miner to be in the ASIC wave.

You can't kill math.
Legitimate question:

Does this mean that they are going to refund 1.99 BTC-0.89 BTC = 1.1 BTC per unit to anyone who has purchased over 1000 units?  Or 1.1BTC *1000 = 1100 BTC to each person who has purchased over 1k units?  If so, where does that BTC come from, and how does it affect dividends?  Or am I reading this wrong?

If anything, people should learn to stay away from AsicMiners' stuff until they drop their prices, because they will do it. It's still too high and people should stay away from the group buys until the next drop.

FYI...in three months these things will be making so little bitcoin that you wont even bother plugging them in.

Seems not fair  Huh

First round AM hardware always carries a premium. Trust me. Still stinging from purchasing 50 for myself @ 99.5 BTC knowing I can now get the same number for half that price today but C'est la vie.

Dude the price drop is ridiculous.  I'm happy to pay a premium for a first in hand product but the price of .99 btc for one and .89 btc for 1000 is stupid.  And these price drops of 50% or more are stupid.  These people do not know what they are doing, all they are accomplishing is to piss people off.

I was reselling them in EU.
That means now I can't do that and I'm not going to be capable of reaching the 1,000 mark? Seems not fair  Huh

Everyone who bought these USB sticks for sale at a higher price will now be forced to sell them at a loss or be stuck with them.
Serves them right!  Tongue Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Tongue

Could this be FriedCats way of getting revenge (for all of us) on those a-holes who buy new consoles/ miners/ etc and immediately list on ebay with a price thats +25-100% ?

I sure hope so  Cheesy

I was going to buy a bunch of them (a few thousand) but did not for this very reason.  The OP may know something about producing an ASIC but the OP and his advisors know nothing about marketing and selling product.   I suggested using distributors months ago and they've only now come to see the value fo that tried and true model.

Their pricing makes them a non-competitive product and their price dropping makes them a horrible potential partner.

They should, like most manufacturers, set a single unit MSRP (price) and then offer serious discounts for volume purchases (on the order of 30%+).  The first company to adopt that distribution model will gain immediate market share.

Hogs get fat but pigs get slaughtered.

The rational part of me thinks that people will be less likely to buy these because AM keeps undercutting itself and making it harder to profit off these things.  The irrational part of me concludes people won't give a damn and will buy them because.... "ZOMG ITS A CUTE LITTLE ASICCCCCCC AT 50% OFF!!!!"

This isn't fair for Canadians.  I want to order 1000 USBS.  However,  I want to take advantage of my previous 50BTC order so that I can get 50BTC off, but WTCR in Canada won't be able to honor this.  It now seems that Friedcat is screening out Canadian emails as he hasn't replied to me for quite awhile now, as he probably wants me to deal directly with WTCR.  Bullshit.

WTCR is capable of getting 1000+ units for you.  I wouldn't worry about that!

I won't get the 50 BTC rebate though for my previous 50 unit order.  Did you miss that part?  It was never a question of not being able to get 1000.

In Cryptocoins I Trust

He charges a mark up.

I think laughingbear (me including) is more interested in getting them from the source for .99 BTC
Yes, my markup is 1.01618-.99 = 0.02618 per device.  For $2.82 per device you get expedient service and peace of mind knowing that you will get everything as expected.  If you are ordering over 30 units you get FedEx next day shipping included.
No matter what you say, this an excellent service. But we all know you do have a bone to grind with me. So coinhoarder, I encourage you to handle your own orders and I'll continue distributing ASICMiner/friedcat's product. See my signature.
Thanks

No bone to grind with you...

I'd just rather buy from the source with no mark up.

Your "expedient service" and "peace of mind" don't quite match the expedient service I could give to myself (cut out the middle man). No "peace of mind" required either because there is no 3rd party. Only me ordering from Friedcat.

This is not about you Canary... these things have a slim chance to make ROI in 2 years as is, no need to add extra expenses.
