New topic already started: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-caps-bottlecapsplus-powpos-high-protected-coin-2329756
But I change later some parameters.
It will be SCIFI clone with some changes. SCIFI - fork from recent NVC
Coin swap very easy, after start I send premine to all old CAP addresses (see BUK swap)
User just put old CAP wallet.dat to new directory and start CAPP

But first I need obtain consent from Cryptopia.

also need to reach out to trade satashi and have them pause trading

Who is going to be the developer, admin, coin swapper for any of this?  Huh

Hint, it's not me...

Is there anyone who cares about CAPs that has any experience with actually doing any development work? Other then myself?  Speak now..
I can do this, but some users decided that "We do not need a hostile takeover."
My github https://github.com/scificrypto and 3 of my coins on Cryptopia.

I have been apart of several dev teams as well and can give some support. I only own about 400k so I don't have much at stake and most are locked up on cryptopia but can help with support on bitcointalk, website and discord if needed.

Not hostile. I will gladly help for what I can, and if you need peer review or help with testnet, etc I can do this.

What is the plan? Fork HYP? and update for CAPs. I think better to fork newest NVC or PPC straight up.

I had plans to put some fixes into CAP, but not a complete reboot.

Someone needs to control the OP as well. I don't have that user Account.  I think it was flound1129 who had it at one point.

Is there a current solution in place vs the suggested one? What would be the pros and cons of each?

I've been a very small part of this team promoting the coin on various POS coin threads.  I don't have much to lose compared to some.  It would be great to see more voices chime in here.  I'm too busy to know exactly what is going on, but I gather not only cryptopia is losing but many private individuals?

I respect the exchanges, but they are in a better position to take a lose probably than individuals.  Almost every exchange has done things to protect their own interests over their customers at times.

I analyze tx from that 3 address. All belong to attacker on Cryptopia and it was not first attack.
Previous was October 8,9,10.
Admins from Cryptopia, it is hacker addresses:
EvkWsGkW1xFhNxCMDMFG7rHjF4vc23xy2D
F4GqUVjQAu2dQJeUejisw5HxbooP5CjFCJ
EyViNxLswJm8Ar8KT3MTPm6hfMrjXHmtCW

Summary hacker stole 36M CAP from Cryptopia.

New hackers addresses for next attack: from 82 to 160 in rich list.

PS. Better solution will be create new coin (Hyperstake clone) and send all premine to current addresses, except  hackers 82 to 160 in rich list.

This would certainly alleviate some issues.

I support this option. A new chain would be a lot better for a number of reasons.

im in too, lets start fresh with a new bitcointalk thread and new more secure chain

So, is it worth our while to keep our wallets open for staking right now?

I see CAP now have 185% rate just because one of nodes have -60 min time shift.
It is because developer had tried quick fix one bug (time wrap stuck), but create another.

PS. To fix this bug, just need return original function GetNextTargetRequiredV1 and reduce max time drift to 3 min.

PoS attack very easy, but better not explain step by step for everyone, or more users may try it.
About Cryptopia, I think attacker not only sell CAP and get bitcoins, but also take all CAP from exchange to 3 top address in richlist and now have 38M coins.

I'll private message you.

I'm curious as to how the attack on CAP was actually done. Since it didn't require someone to have 51% , but merely to generate faster blocks, how exactly did the attacker accomplish this?

Are there any other possible theoretical attacks we haven't seen on a POS network?

I'd like to see more the community have more discussions about this in order to minimize potential issues in the the future.

it was explained above a bit... I was under the same impression about 51%. I believe this was actually a double spend attack

Yes just a double spend attack. Cryptopia shares some of the blame by only getting 20 confirmations.

I don't know... apparently this is a first for me... didn't even really know it was happening until someone pointed out the negative balance address.

I'll have to learn a bit more about it.
