1. Verify project's viability
2. Verify core team's identity
3. Check if they have a working MVP already
4. Check repository / Github activity
5. Ask the team on related questions on the project's social media channels, etc...

What should hunter do, if the projects passes all the 5 points you wrote, or simply dont have some the points. For example, bounty campaign of an exchange. Do you often see they put their team on public or post a lot in github?
Or MVP - often the team is in a processes of collecting funds, decides to run a bounty campaign. They wont have a MVP.
"5. Ask the team on related questions on the project's social media channels, etc..." - I've tried asking CZ questions about Binance in twitter, but he ignore me. If he ever run a bounty campaign, I'd better skip it. They seems shady, except CZ I dont know any representative from Binance.

Aside from that, I think every bounty hunter must do a little bit of research about the project and its core team's identity. Also there are a handful of steps as listed below that I think one should do first in order to verify the integrity of a project and steer us away from possibly joining a scam project.

1. Verify project's viability
2. Verify core team's identity
3. Check if they have a working MVP already
4. Check repository / Github activity
5. Ask the team on related questions on the project's social media channels, etc...

If we do these things, I think there is a high possibility that we could encounter some red flags and should already be doubtful about it and avoid that particular project. In this way, we will not be wasting our time and should discourage possible scammers from doing such awful acts.

Alright, everything has been explained and I think most of them here have understood the tips and tricks to join the bounty campaign, also about the rules there. the last of me, don't expect too much. once again, don't you think that by joining the project, you get money. not like that, there are still many processes. The first bounty was launched, various bounty, investment, pre-sale jobs were underway. then proceed to the development, distribution, then listing to the market exchange. if all the stages are successful, then we will certainly be happy because the payment will definitely occur. but if one fails, it is not impossible we will not get anything. I talk like this because of experience, where some bounties that finally failed to penetrate into the market exchange and until now I am still waiting.

basically patience and don't expect big, rest assured.

Bounties can be very deceiving and tricky some times, you might think a project is good enough where as it's a scam project, I almost fall for ibid signature campaign until I saw a bad review about this project called ibid in scam section on the forum then I quickly have a change of mind

You can also add to look on whitepaper and search if its plagiarism  or not if its plagiarism then its most likely they are scam project.

Those who don't have announcement thread created here is afraid to be asked by veterans members here .If they have nothing to hide, they should have room for those who want to ask questions and this forum is the best room for that .since ,we have many professionals here that works in many different project .

You gave very good points on how to avoid issues carrying out bounties  in the forum. In my opinion, the major challenge we have is on how to detect legit projects because several bounties end up not being lucrative for hunters.

You forgot to mention complaints or reports in the scam section, this is very important even if they have all the points but they have complaints like faking their team and their whitepaper blocking people in their telegram channel because of asking legit questions but the team refuse to answer, projects should be clean and transparent.

6. Make every effort to find bounties which are already listed in exchanges, it's will give guarantee and reduce the risk of working for free

5. You can search google for incoming good projects but some of these projects are not offer here in bct instead they just use other platforms to promote the project.
It's so hard especially for newbie, i join in so many bounty platforms but it's not good, For newbie better focus to find bounty in bitcointalk forum

I commented on this in the past, the biggest problem has been this model used, because the reward hunters are participating in something that still has no value and with that has a very uncertain future the correct thing would be that bounty hunters receive bitcoin weekly as payment, this would be the only solution

1. Join a bounty project promoted by reputable bounty managers here. You can try to search a thread here in the forum for them and there are quite few results of them in a list form.

this still doesn't guarantee that everything goes well, these scammers have taken advantage of the fragility of this system

The easiest decision is to follow a reputable manager with the bounty campaign because, in the first place, they would be the ones who would be vetting the campaign and token itself. After all, if they accept some kind of scam-related project, then he would be held responsible for what he is marketing and managing. That’s the best way, IMO.

I think it’s quite easy to make a project look like a legitimate one. Just by doing active stuff and making sure that the community is around, a few months probably, they are going to get away with the bitcoin that you deposited.
Agreed. This was the thing I mostly consider before joining in a bounty campaign. Simply because, as you were said, there's no reputable person in this forum who will waste his/her time in managing a scam project besides, I doubt that they will put their credibility in a risk that could possibly ruin their account.
Moreover, I even also consider to conduct some background check about the project like their whitepaper, their roadmap and more.

The best one to look out for is to check the utility of the token. In the project and the infrastructure that they are going to make and of the token value will appreciate without any speculation on the token over long term.

Many scam projects have a good whitepaper which they used to attract more investors. Scammers nowadays are evolving too, they already adapt the forum phase that's why they are already very cautious on all documents and information they post in there website. The only thing they can't avoid is too fake the team member. They don't want to risk there identity that's why most scam are using fake member profile.

Checking whitepaper for plagiarism is least to worry because only incompetent scammers are doing that.

Utility is an important thing but there was the main consideration before try to join in any bounty and it should be the token must have listed into the exchange site and that will bring use the more guarantee to not get scammed.

Most of the project nowadays are fraud or scam if I am not wrong. Others may not agree with because they earn that much. Yes, there are really few good project to join with and this is why there things you need to consider. Here are my few cents of things I know in bounty hunting.

1. Join a bounty project promoted by reputable bounty managers here. You can try to search a thread here in the forum for them and there are quite few results of them in a list form.
2. Do not be greedy and put too much trust on the project. If you can earn then good if not then let it be. As long as you get a reward then that would do already. If you try to join all of the bounty in that project then it will be a load of work and if ain't pay you then that is really a waste of time and resources.
3. If the team offering the bounty hunters to pay a small amount for the bounty hunters to process the rewards then pretty sure they are scam. They just trying to scam even the bounty hunters.
4. Join an organized group or team handling bounty projects scrutinizing the project before accepting will likely to be legit.
5. You can search google for incoming good projects but some of these projects are not offer here in bct instead they just use other platforms to promote the project. However some offer the project has offer it here in BCT so it will be a  good chance to join that kind of project.

Then do not forget the rules and regulations of bitcointalk forum. Plagirism is the most reason getting ban in this forum. You would not likely to get ban especiay if you get ank up already. Many here likes to report and investigate copy and paste post.

It's just somehow hard to get good paying bounties nowadays, that's why if it is only one or two projects someone will promote per month, it must be good ones.  In addition to above hints and others by those that have commented.  Try and study if the idea or concept of the project is achievable, some projects do give white papers full of ideas similar to building castle in the air.  Also, be careful of projects that promises heaven and earth as reward; you know what I mean by that, because at the end of the day, you might not likely to get anything.

some good points and I totally agree, but for bounties using platfrom this seems to be a bit cautious, because I see this year project who use platforms to publish their bounties are not so reliable, it's better to follow bounties on bitcointalk because I think it's more safe and also if the project is indicated a scam project there are usually several of senior members who are quick to make accusations on suspicious project.

Let me add a few things.

6. Check their whitepaper and the team it's plagiarized/stolen or not (using plagiarism tool and reverse image), if you found it plagiarized/stolen... it's a red flags from their project and you should not join the bounty.
7. You can follow the recommended safe bounty of both this thread Safe Campaigns in the Altcoin section to join. Dont waste your time with others and list of bounties good quality (new update 23_06_2020). This is just recommendation and not force you to join, you can choose bounty whatever you want.

I guess it will not apply in scam project. I had join a good project to which token is used to bet football games. They had even advertise their project in a football league. They even sold their tokens at the same time. So.much promise was being made and all were expecting a good result and will be listed soon as the token was sold out during the token sale. They had already develop the platform for betting and we even tested the platform by betting using free tokens when one sign up into that platform and could also buy or transfer tokens in that platform.

Now they became inactive and no update at all. No exchanges just a pure scam. It was really a good project but things change because they were really scammers.

Utility is what drives investors into a particular project, that's what you need to focus on, most new projects team only have one aim, they want quick money so they create fake hypes, a bounty hunter must be very hard working and smart too
