Broner vs Santiago Feb 20 Showtime Championship Boxing (SCB)
Ok guys, I've unliock the thread and updated it with Broner's new opponent, (thanks to  bisdak40 for messaging me), Puerto Rico's Jovanie Santiago.

This Santiago although a replacement is good he has a strong punch and likes to go deeper in the body, but the biggest question is can he connect with a very agile Broner, but it's a good replacement though it's Broner's last chance to get back in the limelight, there's no excuse for him to lose here, it's a career ending loss if he lose here.

This is better to watch than exhibition fights like that of Mayweather.
Broner needs not to lose this fight or else, I don't know what will happen to his career afterwards.
No bookies has this match yet? Looking at bestodds, they haven't yet this one listed maybe due to the replacement.

Good replacement because it gives Broner a good chance of winning since Santiago is not as good as Pedro Campa's record which is 31-1, while Jovanie Santiago only has 14 fights so far.

If Jovanie Santiago can connect, I think he can if he does the right timing, he also has a good KO record, so with a perfect game plan, he can come up as a winner here and that will make him popular in boxing as fans knows Broner.

Lots of meme's after Broner loss against Maidana.

Look.  (ctto)

It was Broner who started it, Maidana just got his revenge, actually a complete revenge as he knock out Broner in this fight.
He doesn't show respect, he is not respected in return, good for him.

Broner is already a worn out fighter his boxing has been broken. We see how Pacquiao expose the weakness of his style in close range combat. He's an open book, should end his career if he's to lose with this match, we all know that Mexicans are skilled and love to brawl. Steady counter puncher like Broner should be an easy target. Probably the underdog has the upperhand here.

Though bookies has not yet placed an odds for this fight but i do think that Broner would be the favorite to win here and Santiago would be on the other side.

He may have lost to Manny Pacquiao and have not fight since but i do thing he is not yet a worn out boxer, he is just 31 years old and i do think that he still have a fight left in him, he have to train more and talk less  Smiley.

Of course, on his age he would come so far to become the most highest paid boxer and show more good fights in the future. This man placed more odds rather than those new boxers, because his experience on several fight fights is a key factor to enhance according to his skills as well. At that age, it's not yet over and I believed he definitely acquire more match and boost up his career in order to take that legacy.

I don't see what kind of legacy Broner will leave in boxing, probably his "trash talking" which he was popular of. Any boxer that fought Manny Pacquiao will always be remembered and as cocky as Broner, fans will not be having a hard time to remember him.

Legacy? None, he will be forgotten in obscurity, as I have said he is now a B level fighter, maybe not past his prime, but he is going there in that path very quick.

It's good though that he is still under contract and security a fight this February.

He will be known like this:

Internet sensation when he his lost to Marcos Maidana.

Don't bring that again mate.. I don't want to laugh again and again..

Honestly, IMO, the best fight of Broner is with Maidana, I hope they will have a rematch, Maidana just know how to Bully Broner in the ring and Broner has no answer. I was thinking while watching the fight, maybe Broner is just waiting for Maidana to get tired, but he was wrong, Maidana never get tired, he even almost beat Mayweather in a fight, so Broner is easy.

You can't change a boxer, that's his own style and that trash talking would not matter if he does not win fights.

His last 3 fights was against the great boxers in sports, he did not win on those fights, and this one is definitely easier for him, so I expect him to win.

I have never heard of this opponent and it is honestly not an interesting fight when compared to Berchelt vs. Valdez on the same night. Broner is not the fighter he once was and his value as an entertainer is diminished by his recent poor performances. I don't see a 31 year old fighter with limited experience and short notice beating him but I will definitely be rooting for the upset.

Actually all the names that have bee thrown on Broner was a no name fighter, sure they could pull an upset, but I highly doubt it. All cherry pick fight for him and onwards, as others have speculated, they just want Broner an easy fight and earn some money, get busy fights. People are going to watch though, just to see Broner loss to an unknown fighter, hehehe.

You guess it right, what I want to see here is on how Santiago will beat Broner's ass.

Broner seems already out of his prime, but this fight of him should be a win for him if he still like to get big fights, if he can't beat a non caliber boxer, then he has no right to fight popular boxers, no one would promote him to that, unless like what you said, fans will come to see how Broner will loss.

Broner though said that in one interview that he is not yet out of his prime, he said that he is just 31 years old still young to still compete with the best. But in his recent fights, he has more losses, so maybe when he steps up on opposition, he usually doesn't perform very well.

So me may be still in his prime, but I would say that he is just a B-level fighter right now. And they try to have him a 'gimme fight', to bring his confidence again in the ring.

His mouth is a level A boxer but his boxing skills is already in the level B, and will soon be in level C if he lose this fight.

He has not won a fight for 3 years already, it's kinda hard to prove again as for sure he loss some confidence after having 3 consecutive loses.
I don't want to judge but this is all what I think based on his fight history.

Meanwhile Santiago is not a champion but he is an undefeated boxer, both can use this chance as a great opportunity to create some buzz.

Hahaha, nicely put mate, yes, his mouth was his downfall, specially in the Maidana fight. We understand that they need to hype the fight and to promote it, but most of the times, Broner went over board with his trash talking and when he lost he became an internet meme sensation and I think it has affected him negatively after that.

So a B fighter fighting a C fighter, it's gonna be close but I think Broner has still the advantage here and could be favourite.

I hope that the sportsbook will also hype him so much so he will be a heavy favorites, when that happen, I'm gonna enjoy taking a very attractive odds for Santiago. I know he hasn't been KO in his career, maybe this is the time and I'm gonna bet on that.

The problem with Broner is that he is too lazy to train and would rather like a exorbitant lifestyle and that really separates him from being the best like Floyd, or Pacman. And when he rose in ranks like in 140-147 it magnify as it is a tough weight class to begin with. Definitely, Broner will be the favorite as he is fighting a unknown fighter at least as far as the US fans.

He has not chance to win against the Legend, they are not on the same level so I don't think that was really a good gauge to determine if his career is already over or not. Broner will remain entertaining but he can never be as good as Manny, I guess he just need to be aggressive, unfortunately he was looking at his idol in boxing which is Mayweather and he can never be aggressive following his style.

He is fast but Manny was faster, the fight of Broner that I liked was the fight between Maidana, he got beaten hard.

He is giving Broner a chance to win, it is really a nice pick for their promoter and Broner. With a 14-0-1 fight record for Santiago, it is very obvious to think about what will be the possible ends. This is likely just an exhibition fight and an easy win for Broner.

But I don't think it buys more interest to the public and I'd never think about a close fight scene. Thus, I expect a higher odds for Broner, of course, it is the best choice to be made when putting a bet on them.

Most likely this fight will be to promote his next fight again. If he can show some good moves and knock out his opponent smoothly, the fans might want to see him again in the ring with a worthy opponent. As you can see, it's all about marketing strategy no matter where you will go. everyone seems trying to promote their boxers the best way they could. Honestly, if Broner is not such a big mouth, he can show us some good fight in the ring with his speed. I don't know if he still got those skills, I think this is why they match them with this weak opponent to see if he still got those skills.

he appears to be really a strong fighter back then but suddenly his career dwindle and his youtube goes viral especially when he loses against Maidana. the guy is still very loud and obnoxious after it. i wanna see something like that again kinda new meme of Brooner.

The public will still bite it and most of the people who will not be enjoying this fight is the boxing fans that wanted to see the Campa v. Broner fight but here we are, Santiago v. Broner. Broner could handle this one in my opinion, Santiago is not that big in the scene as Campa is back in his homecountry Mexico, the record is the only one that backs Santiago and I think that with Broner, he will be tasting defeat.
As expected, some boxing fans will be disappointed but it was the decision of both teams, either we like it or not, the show must go on.

We don't know if Campa wants to fight against Broner, or he wants another opponent because he likely moving away from Broner. I don't know if this is all about money sharing and both parties are not agreeing. Well, that is my opinion, of course, it is a big consideration since boxing is also a business.

i think the only they are going to be talking now is just the location where they are going to hold the fight. the article seems to have written that they're sure the fight is going to happen.

Quote
The bout will take place Feb. 13 atop a Showtime Championship Boxing (SCB) telecast at a location to be determined.

It's all about money, promoters knows how to value fights.

They are allowing Browner to regain his popularity he'll bringing money still so giving him a chance to get another good look to go for the blow and fight another big name after winning, unless they are working behind and making another new name to this sport.
