I have never heard of this opponent and it is honestly not an interesting fight when compared to Berchelt vs. Valdez on the same night. Broner is not the fighter he once was and his value as an entertainer is diminished by his recent poor performances. I don't see a 31 year old fighter with limited experience and short notice beating him but I will definitely be rooting for the upset.

Actually all the names that have bee thrown on Broner was a no name fighter, sure they could pull an upset, but I highly doubt it. All cherry pick fight for him and onwards, as others have speculated, they just want Broner an easy fight and earn some money, get busy fights. People are going to watch though, just to see Broner loss to an unknown fighter, hehehe.

He is giving Broner a chance to win, it is really a nice pick for their promoter and Broner. With a 14-0-1 fight record for Santiago, it is very obvious to think about what will be the possible ends. This is likely just an exhibition fight and an easy win for Broner.

But I don't think it buys more interest to the public and I'd never think about a close fight scene. Thus, I expect a higher odds for Broner, of course, it is the best choice to be made when putting a bet on them.
The public will still bite it and most of the people who will not be enjoying this fight is the boxing fans that wanted to see the Campa v. Broner fight but here we are, Santiago v. Broner. Broner could handle this one in my opinion, Santiago is not that big in the scene as Campa is back in his homecountry Mexico, the record is the only one that backs Santiago and I think that with Broner, he will be tasting defeat.

Here is the record for Santiago:

https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/422452

But nothing has change though, relatively easy for Broner's comeback fight.

And all the fighter that they have in line is unknown, so I think they wanted Broner to look at comeback fight so that he can still secure high profile names in the future for a high paying salary to help deal with court cases,  Grin. Let's see how Broner will sell this fight.

New opponent for Broner, - Jovanie Santiago

Quote
Adrien Broner has finally settled on an opponent for his long-anticipated return.

The former four-division title-holder will oppose Puerto Rico’s Jovanie Santiago on February 20, multiple sources have informed BoxingScene.com. The bout – which will be contested at or near the junior welterweight limit of 140 pounds – will headline a “Showtime Championship Boxing” tripleheader from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The three-bout broadcast also will include Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin (21-1, 14 KOs, 1 NC) and Dominic Breazeale (20-2, 18 KOs), of Eastvale, California, in the co-feature. Former IBF lightweight champion Robert Easter Jr. (22-1-1, 14 KOs), of Toledo, Ohio, will meet Ryan Martin (24-1, 14 KOs), of Chattanooga, Tennessee, in Showtime’s opener.

Still easy fight for Broner and quick money, although Santiago is undefeated, he hasn't face a fighter like Broner.

Oh this is very unfortunate for the two boxers.

Well as far as I know, there have been news speculating that AB might fight Michel Rivera this February 13 as a replacement for Campa. Based on boxrec, Rivera's standing is 19-0-0 with 12 knockouts.

I forget to update the thread with this latest news, thanks for the reminding. Once everything is finalised, will either update everything or create a new thread. For now I will have to lock this thread as Campa is out of the picture.

I don't like loud-mouth boxers  Smiley, so if the odds on betting for Campa is attractive then i will go for it, same as you mate.

Is this a title fight?
This would be hard for Campa but i do see the chances for him to beat up Broner. Same as yours, i dont like those boxers who do talk shit before the fight.

Let their boxing would do the talk.  Wink

Broner has been really a trash talker and despite being defeated by Pacquiao, he still claims that he defeated Manny. It's supposed to be Camba's chance to prove himself more in the ring but since he backed out because of covid reasons, I guess they would find a good match for Broner this time.

As a fan of the Legendary Manny Pacquiao, I don't think that Broner is really effective inside the ring because as you can see in their fight on January 19, 2019, he struggled defeating Pacman.

I will place my bet on Campa, I'm not a hater of Broner but I just want to place my bet on where the odds is much higher. As I've watched those previous fight on Campa and is underdog, I think that he can still dominate Broner inside the ring because any thing can happen once the fight started.

It is important to seek some research first before betting our money on the side that where we are capable of winning.

Broner has a better record than Campa. Broner fought Pacman, Mikey Garcia, Maidana. Meanwhile, Campa fought nobody, IIRC.
This should be an easy fight for Broner, but he may lack match sharpness since he hasn't fought for two years!

Lol, no fight this as well year for Broner Grin

Ohh, this is bad news.

Anyway, i think that PBC will look for a replacement as i think Team Broner can't afford to postponed this fight to a later date as their boxer is already out in boxing for too long, if he loses he might blame ring rust for it lol.

Regis Prograis would be a fine replacement as the two have bad blood in them.

I will be rooting for Campa since I don't like his opponent and also I can't wait to see their interview before the matchup. I'm sure there are lots of trash-talking to make the fight exciting to watch. Anyway, Campa should know how to counter this guy because he has some power but lacks of technique to show his opponent. he can find some way to win this match if he wants to win.

I hope he does, Broner is still good he still has that power, quickness and ring generalship, I based on his last fight against Pacquiao, but Campa can punch he just have to work on his timing and just hope that Broner will display his arrogance and become careless so the knock out punch can get in.
I am not stereotyping but Mexican boxers are real good when it comes to boxing, I am a Pacquiao fan but you have to give props to some Mexican fights that he had. I do agree with you regarding Campa's but he hasn't fought on the American soil yet which could be a good or a bad thing, good because he is already a hard lined fight and bad because he does not have the experience. Broner hasn't won since 2017 so we should expect some effort to win in this match from him.

Campa hasn't had a fight for a year now and I think that it will be on his side if he does a lot of training during that time period.

Shallow rivers are the loudest sometimes, there are exceptions though, if the fighter has the skill to back it up then let his/her mouth run wild. They are the best fights to see because we can see if humility topples cockiness. Campa hasn't had a fight for a year now and I think that it will be on his side if he does a lot of training during that time period.

I would say that Campa is no push-over, he is Mexican and I think he will give Broner a tough fight. No odds yet, but if Broner is the betting favourite, I might go with the underdog Campa just for s**t and giggles, hehehe.
Adrien Broner will be the favorite in the fight by the bookies even though he is returning after a 2 year gap. He was having legal troubles and i am not sure whether he will be in a good state of mind and the long break he had will have an impact in the fight and i will place a small bet on Pedro Campa simply because Broner is returning after two loss and a draw.

I will go for Campa on this one also. Seems that there are a lot of things going on with Broner and I believe he is not ready for this fight. Not yet listed in sportsbooks here but I think they will list it soon as it is happening this coming month already. Maybe at first bookies will favour Broner, but once the fight is getting near, the odds will be reverse. Just my thoughts here.

Broner is in bad shapre right now and he badly need this fight in order to regain his career and also for money of course as he is facing some serious problems because of his attitude.

But if he will not step up his boxing technique and his attitude in the ring then there is a big chance that he will receive an upset to Campa. And Campa is in great shape with regards to his last 5 fights were he didn't receive any loss compare to Broner that he has 2 losses in his last 5 figthts. With regards to odds, I think it will be a close one and will favor a little to Broner.
