He has beaten everyone in the Middleweight division so who's left for him except champions like Murata or maybe one of the Charlo brothers. But that is if Charlo wanted a piece of GGG right now because it seems they have been avoiding him for quite some time now. So I guess it's better for GGG to really target Murata and wait for the fight to be available.

He deserves to get a huge fight before he retired because the guy is amazing when it comes to fighting anyone who is capable to beat him but most of the time he managed to beat them instead. His record is incredible with only 1 loss and a high percentage of knockout wins, I'm sure he will give us a sure entertaining night which will be recorded in boxing history. Too bad guys like him have reached the age where they need to rest on their profession, I hope there will be some people who will gonna be like them in the future.

And who wouldn't want to see this great fight?

GGG will be tested again by a tough Japanese fighter who is a champion in his own. But covid-19 intervene again and so all we can do is really want for the Japanese government to ease their travel restrictions as this fight will not be move to any countries. And then maybe we can start to speculate again but obviously GGG is the fight favorite amongst us boxing fans.

I don't see a fight getting postponed as it will likely get cancelled eventually. GGG could find another opponent if he sees there's money on it, and I really like to see him fight again as he has been inactive for awhile.

As I do remember also, most of the postponement or reschedule fights in boxing ended up in cancellation, though it's a piece of sad news for every boxing fan that waited to see this fight, but the management need to follow the rules of the country for health purposes. However, maybe this kind of reason of postponement may not affect the original fight arrangement because the reason is valid and acceptable, and not it's not like the case of other fighters like the Casimero vs. Butler that the chance to see them fighting inside the ring is already lost.

GGG is a strong fighter and well experienced,  even with his age he still exhibit good fighting  skill . He has always performed very well in most match. Murata his also a good fighter, the fight will be very tough fight and interesting, I'll wait to see who win this fight between the two great fighters.

OP should now update the title thread to TBA. As far as reports are concerned, it will be 1Q next year*.

GGG expresses his disappointment on the postponement but understands that health concerns should always be a priority. Murata on the other hand, consider the fight with GGG will test his overall experience. The result will also determine his status in the middleweight division.

With what happened, both boxers now have more time to continue their training and be well-prepared more on the scheduled date.
We could really see the disappointments which this is something that we could really able to observe out even the fans who had been longing for these upcoming fights do really get disappointed with these postponement of schedules.

We should understand that they've been doing this for our sake though because health is much more important and should be prioritize rather than
on making things happen but lots would be compromised?

About the fight then Murata would really able to test out his experience at its hearts content knowing GGG could really beat him down
and he must be aware of that already.
While I agree with the measures taken by the Japanese government, something that is not being talked about is the viability of Japan to host these kind of events in the future, after all do we think this fight would have been delayed if it was to be held at the US? And if the answer to that is a no, then boxers will be more reluctant to fight there, after all boxers prepare themselves to be at their top shape on the day of the fight and if it is delayed then this means they have to change completely the way they are preparing themselves for that fight.

More likely the government doesn't like the spread of this new variant, they are just protecting their people.

The event will proceed either change the venue or wait for the green sign from the health department. It will favor both fighters
as they will have more time for preparations.

Both fighters are new to each other, so maybe there's some interesting action that may happen when the fight takes place.

All fights, regardless of sports, that will happen to Japan this month are now postponed due to the new virus variant called Omicron.

There's no date yet when will be the next schedule but obviously, it's next year, 2022. It will give more time for both boxers to train and prepare for the fight especially Murata as he needs as much as possible time to practice his techniques against GGG.

Let's just hope first that the new virus variant will not create global havoc again. If everything will go smoothly, we can possibly see this fight being re-scheduled right away in the 1Q of 2022.
While I understand why this is happening at the same time it is so sad, almost two years have passed since the first variant of this new virus appeared and yet it is still causing a lot of issues around the world.

I hope that scientists can determine how dangerous is this virus and I hope it is not as dangerous as it was speculated so we can go back to this new normality, that even if it was not as things used to be it was finally tolerable.

It's a new variant and they are making prevention of this virus not to spread, so the decision is understandable. It is probably just postponed as they could still fight again once everything settles back to normal. Lots of fights are postponed or cancelled due to our current situation, but it's not new to us, so let's still get positive and continue hoping that eventually it will be realized in the near future.

Japan government wants to lessen the chance of wide spread of this virus.

They don't want to see the spread of this virus inside their country. We can't really say when the fight will resume,
but like what you have said, GGG will benefits he will have the time to continue building his stamina.

I will follow you GGG to KO Murata..
They are one of the countries with very strict protocols about enforcing the rules as long as this virus is still around. In fact they are now restricting flights to their country and there are several countries that are not allowed into their country at this time and one of them is my country.
But speaking of the actual match, they are less favored because the two boxers are at least more prepared to train and find the right strategy for the match.
on the other hand I will also give my bet to GGG in this match because technically GGG has been confirmed 70% can win this match if you look at the statistics and performance

The omicron virus is quite new, it's a normal reaction for a country to restrict international flights to prevent people from entering their country while the study of this virus is still ongoing, but eventually, as they find out the virus is not so harmful than the previous ones, then they will eventually open it again.
But indirectly things like this become one of the losses for several parties, and one of them is this match.
I'm quite looking forward to this match actually because I feel it is a worthy match, but with the omicron of this match now there is still enough clarity and I still don't know the official schedule of this match now.

It could be good or bad for the boxers, they already trained for a certain date and have pushed their bodies already. But if the fight is postponed then they have to relaxed again because otherwise they will be overtrain.

And not just the physical but the mental strain it gives to sports athletes, you train away from your families this Christmas and now it will be cancelled and then you have to think about the training again.

You have a valid point there and these boxers ended up with no choice. Training is hard whenever the weigh-in is approaching as there's a required weight. Since the fight is cancelled they have to stop their usual training and will back again at maintaining the weight once there's a schedule now. I'm sure they will soon catch up as they are both professional. Maybe hard at first but eventually they will be used on it.

It's also a problem that there's no date yet leaving them without a specific plan for their respective training sessions to start. For now, they just have to relax a bit and enjoy their vacation.

Been seeing a lot of sports events postponed before this year ends.
But this will be good for boxers as they have more time to prepare and think about their strategies.
As we battle this new covid strain, we may expect more events to be suspended for the time being.
Let's wait if we can overcome this new wave faster than the previous one.

Im already anticipating that there would be another one after another thats why its never ending kind of situation and lets hope that it shouldnt really be like this because this doesnt only delay or putting the risk of these sports events but also in other industries as well.
Yeah, there are lots of events had been postponed now which is understandable and its true that this is an advantage for those
boxers yet they do have more time to train up their bodies excluding into those who are in need of money badly. Cheesy

Well taking into account that GGG represents for many of us a kind of good feeling or that we always want to see the success of GGG, we cannot go through the enormous potential that Murata has, for many the winner is Murata, but I think this time I I would go for GGG, no matter how old I am, I have to be consistent with what I think, and at the same time I know that some of the emotions can influence, but I think that this time GGG can surprise, it would be a good closing of year, let's wait and see how this time of preparation unfolds, I am sure that GGG will give everything to get the victory.

I think that's not the case here based on the feedback of the majority. Only a few think Murata has a chance to win.

Their pointers are:

- Popularity
- Experience
- Strength
- FirePower

GGG's age doesn't look like a problem that's why he was the Favorite to win the match.

But it doesn't mean Murata has no chance to win. We will see next year as the fight is now officially postponed.

Not really a fan of underdogs but in this GGG vs Murata situation, the possibility of an upset is high IMO because of the former's inactivity in the ring and his age. We have seen that recently on the Pacman on how age affects his fight and for me, GGG is not exempted hehe.

Have read the news that this fight might be stage on the first quarter of 2022, so by that time GGG will be 40 years old.
