The championships are "marathons" and not a "100 meters race". So the important thing is that the teams are consistent throughout the competition.

Every season, one or two small teams appear, which are sensations and make life difficult for big clubs, at least in the first part of the season.

Yes, it really is a possibility, and they have the conditions and resources to be champions again!
But if they are eliminated (Libertadores), Palmeiras will focus almost entirely on the Brasileirão and with that, they will have even more chances to win the Brazilian championship this year.
