I really like Neymar's football, I hope he has a good season with Santos, although the brazilian league (brasileirão) is competitive, the level of aggression and tactics isn't at the European level. Neymar's return will make many brazilians start watching football again, whether they are Santos fans or not.

Well i fact that is the only thing make me doubt about how much he can made, because if his knees arent well prepared or cant be more hard, he can be in big troubles, a kick or a bad leverage on the leg and he is gonna be again a lot of time outside the pitch, lets hope he doesnt get injured easy.

This greatly benefits our championship, it brings more visibility and makes the championship attractive for other great players to come and play here. I even said a few days ago that I think Neymar will play few games at Santos, it's like a pre-season to recover physically and technically. I think that Neymar, despite being a great player, will be inferior to what he used to be, he will lose a lot of his speed, he will have to change his way of playing, even to protect himself from possible new injuries.

Sorry guys for not being before in this thread after the HUGE news of the coming back of Neymar to his former team.

Im very happy to see this happening, NEymar always wants to comeback and i feel like he was trapped in Saudi Arabia and not happy at all, now he is free again and i think is gonna be again happy with all his people, if his body dont fail to him i can see him making again dance all the defenders in south america.

Welcome!

Neymar at Santos is like a season of physiotherapy and the gym, to get back to playing at a high level... Neymar had been having difficulties getting back to playing in Saudi Arabia, imagine in Brazil, where the championship is much more difficult. I think this transfer is more of a celebration than a sporting event in itself. I believe he will play very few games for Santos, it will be a kind of farewell before he embarks on a new path in his career.

Yes, i support what you said but i also think the fact of being on Brazilian soil is what Neymar need to recover all his confidence and happines, and with that he can start again to build his way of play and if he starts in a good mood can be back to his golden era pretty soon.

But does Santos have a team that can play for Neymar?...

Although I don't like Neymar very much, he plays very well and well above average
Santos managed to win a lot with him basically having the team play for him

If they manage to put together a good defense so as not to concede goals, they can simply focus on Neymar and play the whole game based on him and it could work out very well.
Any play he takes the ball on can result in a goal

Maybe Santos can still bring in 1 or 2 good players for the team
Maybe a player who is on the sidelines and has no team to play for hahaha, as we mentioned a few days ago, Marcelo, Felipe Melo etc

What are the prospects for the championship with Neymar back? Will he really play for the short time he will be here, or will it be something like he did with his previous team? Will he just bring people to the stadium and at the end of his contract he will go to Europe?

That's a good question!
As far as I know, Neymar signed a 180-day contract. Which is enough to play a good part of the Brazilian championship
He also said that he will try to bring in more players to strengthen the team

I believe that he still wants to return to Europe and that he's going to focus on the 2026 World Cup, so his choices must be to achieve that goal
Maybe play here to raise his level again, attract attention, be able to train the way he wants...
What do you think?

I saw Tiago Leifert talking about his strategy. It would basically be to get into the swing of things here at Santos, play to gain confidence and then he'll be free in the middle of the year. But the reason he's leaving in the middle of the year is because of the European transfer window. The focus is on leaving Brazil, so he's here to gain confidence and use it as a showcase.

I think that's right. Tiago Leifert is very close to Neymar and they've probably already talked about this... Especially because it doesn't make sense for Neymar to come to Santos to end his career, since he still has a high level of football to play. If he's in shape, he could easily play for another 4 or 5 years. He came back to get in shape and close a cycle with the club, after that it's another goodbye to go to a better club.

But does Santos have a team that can play for Neymar? We know that Santos has returned to the A series, but the performance of the current Santos team is not guaranteed. But the name Neymar can certainly attract a lot of marketing for Santos, so if the team management is smart, they can get a good sponsorship and sell a lot of products like T-shirts.

Neymar may be focused on playing a season at Santos, getting a better offer to play for a European team and focusing on the World Cup.

Usually when brazilian star players return to brazil, it's near the end of their careers, but the boy is young, doesn't have the same energy he had when he played for Santos and Barcelona, is a party animal, gets injured very easily (since he is always a target for players) and is quite provocative.

Santos doesn't have a competitive team and last year they were struggling in the second division of the Brazilian championship. For me, Neymar is just coming to say goodbye to Santos and try to get back into shape, completely different from what Ronaldo was like at Corinthians or even Ronaldinho Gaúcho at Flamengo/Atlético-MG. I think Neymar will do a test to see if he can still play at a high level and then go to a European team or even Flamengo... Santos accepted this because they don't have money or a strong team... so it's a kind of exchange of favors: bring Neymar to make the fans happy and Neymar has a club to try to recover to injury. It's just business... Neymar's "father" is a great negotiator, I think he's behind all this.

Is there anyone here who still follows Botafogo development after winning the Brazil Serie-A title, they played very badly in the Campeonato Carioca and have been 4 match with only 1 win, the other 3 match ended in defeat and I see from every match Botafogo really seems to have forgotten how to play impressive.
Some top and best team in the Brazil Serie-A did play badly in the Campeonato Carioca, I don't know why something like that could happen and of course quite lot of people especially Botafogo fans are quite disappointed with some of those defeats.

What happens is that the big teams are using reserve teams at the beginning of the Rio de Janeiro championship, Botafogo, which lost, is an alternative team, the same happened with Flamengo, which is not doing well at the beginning of the year, but soon the main teams enter the field and return to winning and playing strong football as they did last year.

Romario is what they call "one of a kind" i think we are not gonna see again something like him again or also nearby to him, his way of playing was something else, a incredible shooter with super skills on dribling and a way of moving his body out of this world.
Between Ronaldo9 and Romário, who do you think was the best? I can't tell you, but Ronaldo's dribbling style is also out of this world. For me, Ronaldo the Phenomenon could be better than Messi if he had focused more on training and hadn't had the knee injury. I think Zidane can compare himself to Ronaldo in terms of dribbling.

Romario was one of the best, I watched him at his peak, his positioning was incredible, most of the matches he spent quite quiet, doing his own thing, without showing any danger, but it only took one play for him to decide the game, for me he was one of the best strikers of all time.

The question was quite embarrassing, it put them all in a complicated situation, but I think Neymar wouldn't have a place in the starting team in 2002, RIvaldo played very well in that World Cup and made all the difference, I don't know if Neymar would be able to do the same, since the playing styles are very different.
You're right, but Neymar is one of the best dribblers of all time. He just missed being the best in the world, but that was because he didn't want to be.

I didn't follow Rivaldo very well, but I think he was the best of the world in '99. He played really well. It's a shame he doesn't get much media attention.

Another player who was wronged was Djalminha, who didn't play in any World Cup. Brazil wastes a lot of great players and then complains about not being champions anymore.

Djalminha was one of the most skilled players I have ever seen play, what he did on the field was incredible... There was a controversy that left him out of the 2002 World Cup, he was one of the big favorites to be called up, but he headbutted his coach at Deportivo La Coruña and was left out of the call-up.

Here is a video of the incident:

It's really hard to find someone equal or better than Romário, because besides being good, he has the personality and aura of a champion. He's reached the point where he doesn't need to prove or be approved by anything, he just does it.
