So Botafogo Rj won the 2024 Serie A with 6 points difference to Palmeiras and this is a great achievement for them when they missed winning the Serie A a couple of years ago (of course completely at their own fault as they were leading with many points and lost in the end games in a row, still don't understand what it was, probably needed money and they mixed or fixed some games) and now they won it. I believe even for 2025 season they will be a strong contender yet I don't hope they do the same they did some years ago as written above when they let everything slip away from them and Palmeiras won that season if I remember correctly. I wonder why Sao Paulo is not a winner as they used to dominate in the 2005-2008 time and since then they are not seen nowhere, I would love to see them again as a strong contender.

There is something that serves as a lesson for Palmeiras, Flamengo and Botafogo: The fall of São Paulo's supremacy, previously the club that was the great winner in Brazil today is just a supporting actor, always with average seasons and full of problems, what happened to São Paulo was that it lost to itself, to its ego and let itself be carried away by the idea that it was unbeatable, it became full of debts and today it is just a shadow of what it once was.

What will happen to São Paulo is what Corinthians is going through now. Soon they will have a bigger crisis and that will make them a Corinthians fan club. The difference is that Corinthians only didn't close its doors because of its fans, something that São Paulo won't have in its future crisis.

I also think teams coming from Serie B don't stand out in Serie A, with the exception of traditional teams from Serie A which are relegated for a season due to extraordinary reasons. One example could be Santos, which is a traditional team from Serie A and has a history of important achievements in brazilian soccer. With a proper plan and a decent investment they can reach top positions in this championship.

Santos is doing nothing extravagant or fancy, but they are trying to take a conservative and solid route by hiring average players, like Tiquinho Soares from Botafogo, who did an excellent first turn in 2024, and was decisive for the leadership of Botafogo during a long time in 2023's Brasileirão. Now he is going to Santos and can help the team to maintain an average performance.
Main problem is about money, not many team here have a stable financial budget and can be quite large because of the limited investors and the lack of much income that can be obtained by some of these team, competition or league can be really popular when there are many rich team in it and are able to create great developments.

For team like Santos I not so surprised and there is indeed possibility for them to be able to provide surprise, but what everyone wants is not just one or two team but more, if the Brazil Serie-A can have more strong team and can always compete impressively like other competitions out there then that can be quite satisfying attraction.

I had never heard of this kid, but if they did a story about him, then he must have some potential. I hope he can achieve everything!

As for the clubs, if you look closely, big names always come from big clubs. And they are usually the same ones: Santos, Flamengo, São Paulo and recently Palmeiras.

With this inflation , I think he is a bit overpriced but he has massive talent for his age at only 17 years old so from this perspective , I think the price is ok. However , if the next 2 years will be as great for them as the last one , then I'm sure by the time he is 19th  , he will value more than 80 mil for sure and teams like Real or Barca will try to snatch him for sure.  Grin
I certainly have high expectations for him. They say he's better than Endrick, who currently plays for Real Madrid, but it's still too early to be sure. He's definitely already in the sights of European clubs. This news is from April 2024: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/times/palmeiras/noticia/2024/04/12/a-joia-de-r-245-milhoes-ja-na-mira-de-europeus-estevao-encanta-em-noite-historica-pelo-palmeiras.ghtml

I think the boy dribbles well for his age, while Endrick has more explosiveness and sprints, so it's certainly a clash between these two.

I had never heard of this player. What happened to him? Where is he playing? From what I saw, this article is from April of last year... I wonder if the kid has made it? The amount of young talents that are revealed by Palmeiras and Flamengo is impressive. This just shows that the more structure a club has, the more talented young people are attracted to the club. Investing in infrastructure is one of the best investments for a club.

I agree, but I hope we can have some teams that were promoted this year being relegated again, it will be more interesting to watch and the competition will be better
And when that happens it means that more team from Serie-B that are promoted will spend bad season in Serie-A and of course the popularity of this competition cannot increase, for years the same thing has been what we have always seen in Brazil football and it cannot be changed.
Top team always top the Brazil Serie-A competition in turn, there are team that can show surprise by winning the title but surprises like this are very rare and for this year hopefully what you say really happens with more interesting competition.

The difference in difficulty between the Brazilian championship, from series A to series B, is huge. All new teams that move up a division feel this and spend the championship fighting for lower positions in the table. Perhaps even Santos itself will have this difficulty, because despite the team being big and well-known, the quality of the squad is that of a second division team.

This reminds me of something that streamer Casemiro said a few years ago. He said something like the Brazilian Série B championship is the most competitive, since no team in the world has won Série B twice in a row. Grin Grin

Palmeiras has been making major signings for 2025 and is preparing for the brasileirão. The alviverde has a group valued at 236 million euros, about 20 million ahead of Flamengo, which was in first place in this category until the end of the year.

Estevão alone is one of the top 100 most valuable players in the world, valued at 50 million euros. Do you think the boy is overpriced?

I don't think there is any favorite for the title this time. Last two years Palmeiras had already started the championship as the favorite one, even though things completely changes along 2024, and Botafogo won.

Naturally, Botafogo should be the favorite for the next season, but the team is changed. We don't have Artur Jorge, Luiz Henrique and Tiago Almada anymore. Some other secondary players were also sold or didn't have their contracts renewed. The team has to build a new composition from a very raw stage, especially regards its mid-offensive squad. A new coach is also essential.

All we have so far are promises of a better team than it was in 2024.

I'll wait for the state championships to give my opinion on the Brazilian championship. The teams still need to organize themselves and until then everything can change, and from what I've seen, Botafogo is negotiating or has already negotiated some important players so I don't know if they'll be able to maintain this sovereignty.

The Ceará team and Mirrasol went shopping, while Mirrasol signed 10 players, the Ceará team went further and so far brought 11 new players to its squad, which means that the teams will arrive at this season with a huge risk of not having an ideal quality of chemistry. Could this be a reason to be aware of the possible fight to avoid relegation? I don't know to what extent this is good for a team... since the squad that arrived in Série A was possibly dismembered.

I will definitely bet against these teams for at least 5 rounds in a row. It is not possible that so many signings will make the team gel in time to generate any significant results. Unless these 11 players that Ceará has a contract with are a complete team. Grin Grin

What should we expect from the teams that were promoted to Serie A this year? Are they here to stay or will it just be a quick stopover and next year they will return to Serie B?

Are any of them likely to stand out against the teams already established in the elite of Brazilian football?

So... Mirassol!!!
We have a new debutant in Série A, am I right?

I confess that until now I hadn't stopped to observe this team, and I don't think I've actually seen it play, I barely remember its name. It's always good to see new faces, and I hope they can stay in the main league of our sport for at least more than one championship to get good sponsorships, give visibility to previously unknown players who can become new talents in our football.

Ceará... I have my doubts, I think it should be among the last, if it doesn't get relegated again.

About Santos and Sport... it's hard to say, I don't expect good results from them, but I also doubt they'll be relegated again.

Let's wait for the championship to start and the first games to take place before returning to your question.

Are any of them likely to stand out against the teams already established in the elite of Brazilian football?

A brief analysis about the teams that went up from Serie B to Serie A were:

Santos
I think they've learned their lesson in Serie B, just like the other big teams they've relegated, they should have a regular championship without too many surprises, probably top 12 in the end

Ceará and Sport
I'm going to make the same analysis for both teams
Both teams are strong in the northeast, but in the national championship they don't have the same strength to compete with the teams from SP, MG and RJ.
They are teams that spend some time in Serie A and some time in Serie B.
They should maintain the same situation, staying in the middle

Mirassol
This team is a big surprise, they'll be playing in Serie A for the first time.
They had a good campaign in the B series, only 1 point behind Santos, and ahead of Sport and Ceará.
They are signing some more experienced players and could be of great help in a difficult, long championship with several big teams.
A good yardstick will be the Paulista championship, which Mirassol will also be competing in among the big teams, in Serie A.
I'll keep an eye on the team, it could be a pleasant surprise for everyone.

Do you have a different opinion?

Sport, I believe that due to the endless crises, it is a real possibility that the club will fight to avoid relegation again. As for Santos, I agree with you. They will be in the middle of the table, perhaps trying to get a place in the Libertadores Cup at best. As for Mirrasol, I am very curious to see how they will behave in the elite of Brazilian football. I believe that due to their work and structure, they can positively surprise.
