Many years ago, it had a constellation of veteran stars: Romario, Edmundo, Ramon... but in the end, it was a huge ego clash and the club achieved absolutely nothing. There was even an episode where Romario fought with a fan who threw chickens at him during the team's training session last year.

I'll leave the links to the articles below:
...
I think that if Romário were a commentator, he would be similar to the 'Craque Neto', he is egocentric, with his iconic phrases and apart from the fights and always involved in controversies, he made himself funny. He was a great player, despite the controversies.

Friends, have you seen Neymar's latest interview? The one he gave to former striker Romario? It was very interesting and he said some things we didn't know, like the reason for his departure to PSG in 2017... he said he left because he wanted to play with his Brazilian friends and that if he stayed he would be the only Brazilian at Barcelona... how crazy, I think it was a mistake lol

I'm posting here because there are rumors that he will return to Brazilian football, commentator Neto said he will go to Santos, but I still don't think he has made up his mind, but in fact the chances of him returning to Brazilian football are high.
Was it in this interview that he also got involved in a mini-controversy with Rivaldo and the two of them took jabs at each other? I found it hilarious and totally unnecessary lol.

And I think it was a bit of a poorly formulated question. It would make more sense if you asked Neymar which team that didn't win the World Cup would he play in place of which player, for example, the team from '98, 2006, 2010.

If I were him, I would answer: I would never change a team that won the World Cup, because the result could be drastic.

Romario was one of the best, I watched him at his peak, his positioning was incredible, most of the matches he spent quite quiet, doing his own thing, without showing any danger, but it only took one play for him to decide the game, for me he was one of the best strikers of all time.

The question was quite embarrassing, it put them all in a complicated situation, but I think Neymar wouldn't have a place in the starting team in 2002, RIvaldo played very well in that World Cup and made all the difference, I don't know if Neymar would be able to do the same, since the playing styles are very different.

Some time ago there were championships with former players and veterans, if I'm not mistaken it's called "7-a-side football", but I don't know if that still exists, I remember that many years ago I even watched some games and there were several famous players and stars from the past. Nowadays what we have are master teams playing exhibition matches throughout Brazil, some of the big teams have their veteran teams.

Yes but now i think we have the proper conditions to have a better enviroment to see this happening with a economic surplus for all the parties involved, with the streamings and a lot of companies like casinos and other ones putting money on it, and a lot of youngs seeing it in the stramings can be a new era of this.

This reminded me of the fact that bookmakers are inflating the football market. About 90% of the sponsorships for the Brazilian Championship are with bookmakers. So everything is inflated and they should look for alternatives soon to be able to do better.

For me, it's not a big reason for him to leave PSG. But if that's what he wanted, that's fine. I also think he hasn't made up his mind yet, but what usually happens is that the player returns to the team that revealed him.

But this usually happens when the player is in the final phase of his career. I think Neymar can play at a high level for another 4 years. Well, one thing is for sure, money is not a problem for him. He is already a multimillionaire and has several generations of his family with a guaranteed future. He should return to Santos out of love for the club. I don't see any other alternative.

For me they are still top players, Keylor Navas as a goalkepper can be pretty good, we all know goalkeepers can last much longer than pitch players, Rogerio Ceni is an example.

Sergio Ramos still a great defender and a defender also can play without having super speed when they are good in positioning.

Diego Costa he knows how to play this football, but i dont know how is him physically.

Dele Alli..... i think no, he has so many troubles behind him.

Something interesting I saw that ended up mixing soccer with futsal was the championship called Kings League. I believe some of you here must know about it. But it is a way for great players who are not playing to come and play with great quality as well. When you mentioned Navas, for example, I could easily see him playing in the Kings League.

I really can see coming something like a league for veterans players all aroun the world, because the players after retirement they dont know what to do in real life, so what is better than keep playing? And in a more fun way plus without all the stress from being profesional.

I dont know when this is gonna happen but i can see it not much more further.

Look at this, how interesting, Botafogo after 2 years or more under John Textor's management, the club had a market value increase of over 600%, Botafogo won the awards for the titles and along with that with the appreciation of the dollar, in other words, Botafogo is in a good phase, let's see if they keep up the pace this year, it's a team that deserves it.

For those who don't know, Botafogo and Vasco (as far as I know) are practically memes in Brazil because they are known for only losing games, so people tend to make a lot of memes on social media.

My br colleagues can give some hilarious examples like "go for Vasco/ir de vasco".

I don't think it's a good deal to hire these "old veterans". Diego Costa had an "ok" time in Brazilian football, and he might even be able to find a team to play for due to the shortage of good strikers. Sergio Ramos is a gamble, a defender who is almost 40 years old and has played in Europe his whole life. I think that even the hot Brazilian climate would make him hesitate in plays against young players, hahaha. Imagine, a 40-year-old man running after a 20 or 21-year-old boy, under a 40-degree sun at 4 o'clock in the afternoon on a Sunday, everything is set to go wrong.
Fluminense hires old players, they love old players haha, jokes aside, these old players are experienced and can help to lift the spirits of the team, since they are more experienced, but one thing you mentioned is that the climate in brazil can be a major challenge for them, but they should soon adapt.

Vasco has always been a joke club in recent years. Do you remember the episode with the mouse? It became a national joke, not to mention the several times the team was relegated from the Brazilian championship... and then there was the SAF incident that even ended up in court. It really can't be easy to be a Vasco fan. Botafogo, on the other hand, managed to align itself with its new owner. It just needs to try to maintain consistency and try to invest in the youth teams or in a training center.

It's true that Fluminense has always liked veterans. Many years ago, it had a constellation of veteran stars: Romario, Edmundo, Ramon... but in the end, it was a huge ego clash and the club achieved absolutely nothing. Thanks for the link, until now i dont see a huge reinforcement so far,i mean a star who comes back from europe or other contienent like is happening in the recents years, but for sure we are gonna have a lot of this cases, since the Brasileirao is again a top league and a choice for the players who wants to come back or dont have a place in europe.

So, I was curious about this too and I started researching some international athletes who are still without a defined club.
bviously, a local championship here in Brazil must be off their radar, but even so, it is interesting to speculate about the following names:

Keylor Navas - Former Real Madrid goalkeeper who is already 38 years old but is still "active", has been without a contract with any team for 6 months since leaving Nottingham Forest on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

Dele Alli has not played since July 2024 and was once considered a promising player in England due to his good performances at MK Dons, currently in the Fourth Division when he was bought by Tottenham in 2015 and remained there for many years.

Diego Costa - a good Spanish center forward who also plays as a striker on the field... he already participated in the Brazilian Championship in 2023 for Botafogo and then at Grêmio for a few months. He is also currently "unemployed".

Sergio Ramos was an excellent defender for Real Madrid but has been out of contract since July last year and has no plans to retire... as far as I know.

We still have over a month left in the current transfer window, so I believe the best is yet to come.

I always think that these players won't come to Brazil, but then I remember that Memphis is here, and other great players have come here in the past. But even so, it's hard for one of them to come here like this.

Still on the same subject, is David Luiz already on his way to a team? I'm interested in him going to Fortaleza, from what I heard he's a friend of Fortaleza's former president.

Did you see that Palmeiras has a new main sponsor: Sportingbet? The contract will initially be for 3 years with the possibility of renewal. Bets is arriving with everything in the Brazilian football club market. The company will pay R$100 million fixed per season to Alviverde, with correction according to inflation.

I had never heard of this player. What happened to him? Where is he playing? From what I saw, this article is from April of last year... I wonder if the kid has made it? The amount of young talents that are revealed by Palmeiras and Flamengo is impressive. This just shows that the more structure a club has, the more talented young people are attracted to the club. Investing in infrastructure is one of the best investments for a club.
About the jewel Estevam, I saw another news that he signed a contract with Chelsea and the boy will only go after the 2025 World Cup. The boy signed the millionaire contract at just 17 years old, let's see if he will succeed in any World Cup.

WE have a very long way to go until this tournament starts, but good to see we already have the thread open.

Yeap!!
We are Brazilians, football is our passion and will always be on the agenda, even if the championship is still far from starting Tongue
The fact is that we love to discuss and speculate about the chances of our favorite teams and the signings of players are already taking place, so we always have the expectation of rooting for the formation of a strong team and its likely performance as the championship approaches.

And anyway, this topic serves as a central information hub for us to discuss anything about the championship... we know that the teams are already very mobilized and a lot is happening, such as... the signings announced so far

In Brazil, football is literally played all the time. They only stop to celebrate, other than that it's football all year round.

The signings have been quite calm, without much extravagance. Just the basics to complement the teams. It's interesting to see that there have been few changes in coaches either, from what I've seen.
