One of the clubs that could be the "Paulista Champion" in (next) year is, in my opinion: Palmeiras or Corinthians, basically the elite of "paulista football". I don't think São Paulo has a chance, the team is not doing well in my opinion.
I still miss the Brasileirão championship, the points-based championship is something else, because the team that is leading has to have players and coaching staff with impeccable psychology.
The knockout championships also have a valid point, but because they last much less time than the points-based championship, they don't have the same emotional weight.
But let's enjoy what football has to offer us, because football is joy (and at the same time it's not, lol).
The Brazilian championship's straight points style is the same as that of the European championships, and it was a big change in Brazil, because in the past eight teams qualified for the knockout phase
But can I say something controversial?
I really liked that style hahaha, it was interesting to see the matches, because the first-placed team played against the eighth-placed team, the second-placed team played against the seventh-placed team, and so the logic went
So even eighth place had a chance of being champion
But the current method is much fairer with the most balanced team of the year and one that maintains consistency, I have no doubts and I don't want it to change
I agree, they might use what I said earlier here, looking for talent for the main championship, so to speak. They test it in the state championship and put it into practice in the Brazilian Championship. It's quite fair in my opinion, revealing talent or aligning the team for a better championship would be ideal.
This is probably the best thing about the state championships, a good chance to align the team, to make some tests and to see if the team need any changes
There's another very important thing about championships
1 - Small teams play against big teams, gaining experience, attracting a large audience to their cities, so they can get a better sponsorship budget and can evolve more than just playing against small teams.
2 - a great chance to discover players with a lot of talent who could play for a big team
