I call bullshit.

Have you read the article?

It appears to be more or less legitimate.

I didn't have much respect for the mainstream media but this goes to show that they will go over dead bodies to get some page clicks / sell their rag. Angry

If this is true and those are indeed the real names plus the real house... that journalist is completely insane (and a criminal that should be arrested in my eyes).

What the f# is this, completely destroying the privacy of the man who clearly did want nothing but his identity kept a secret?

I hope this is just a ridiculous hoax.

Gavin said he never knew who he was or his real name though so he has no idea if its bullshit either.

One of the best and most appropriate comments on the article.

Quote
I have just lost what little respect I had for Newsweek. The author has no scruples whatsoever. It is common knowledge all over the 'net that Satoshi is a reclusively private man who just wants to be left alone, so what do you do? You hound the man so that he feels like he has to call the cops, post where he lives, and post a photograph of his house that shows his car in the drive - WITH LICENSE PLATE VISIBLE. Where did you get your journalism degree? From a Cracker Jack box? You don't have the right to invade someone's privacy just because you want page views. This article makes me sick.

This may or may not be true, but that's the "beauty" of "journalism".  They can make any claims they want toward an anonymous person.  Who can prove otherwise?  You roll the dice and maybe this story forces the "real" Satoshi out of hiding.

Either case and if this is the real Satoshi, under Irresponsible Journalism in the dictionary, there should be a picture of Leah McGrath Goodman.  This is an incredible invasion of privacy and since she could never definitively prove this is the real Satoshi, Newsweek should be sued for libelist statements, as this is certain to have a negative impact on this guy and his family.

It's still called doxxing when "professional" journalists do it and wrap it in a bad article you know...

Boycotting that site 100% forever the "reporter" should be ashamed.

If she doesn't lose her job after this would be even more of a shame.

What did she do to lose her job?
This is news, man. People write what the masses want to read.

She posted private names, picture of person, picture of home including car license plate. Disgusting.

This is going to be the worst publicity imaginable for Newsweek and hell on earth for the person living in that house, be it Satoshi or not.

Whether he is or isn't THE Satoshi, we should do what we can to prevent any harm that may come from this.

I'll wager a groat that this is what they are counting on.

This is most likely not the real Satoshi. Unfortunately this article just ruined his life.

His life is now messed up either way I agree. I almost hope its Satoshi just because at least he would have the money to try and escape the media/everything else.

The narrative she paints does fit, but there is no evidence.

As others have said, it is irresponsible journalism to out this man in such a way.

Whether he is or isn't THE Satoshi, we should do what we can to prevent any harm that may come from this.
